Unless you’ve been living under a rock, and that rock happens to be around the Bermuda Triangle, you’ve seen the recent craze of ‘Oodies’. You know, the incredibly giant hoodie/blanket clothes that, admittedly, look incredibly warm (and oddly stylish), usually made out of either cotton or fleece fabric. They look great, but they’re also a bit pricey. While this may not be an issue to some, others simply can’t justify paying £80+ for an oversized wearable blanket. But they shouldn’t miss out, right? Everyone deserves an oversized wearable blanket to keep toasty during the Christmas period! So here are some great alternatives that have been released in competition with the Oodie collection by other retailers, online and physical, that may be a little nicer to your wallet, and still feel amazing to wear.

The Grinch Snuddie - Primark

Earlier this year Primark released The Grinch Christmas range, and to say they literally flew off the shelves would be an understatement. This elusive Snuddie, as they’ve dubbed it, went out of stock at the vast majority of Primark's around the UK in the leadup toward Christmas, as every man, woman and child clambered to purchase one. They ARE rather Grinch looking admittedly, even down to the rough sort of flyaway fur on the Grinch's hands. When this was brought out, the price was £28, so a much cheaper alternative for sure, which may have also played a part in its popularity.

The Snuggle Range - M&S

Marks and Spencer released their own range of hooded blankets called the M&S snuggle, for adults and kids, and then also the character collection, mostly for children, which included a hood made to look like the character in question, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Stitch (From the Lilo & Stitch series), spiderman, and so on. These are even nice on the purse, ranging from as small as £8 to £26 depending on the style.

Character Oversized Hoodie Blankets - eBay (And other online retailers)

While it’s unsure who or where these were manufactured by, these are typically sold on eBay, and are another great alternative, especially for those who love certain animated characters. These take on the full approach of the character they’re meant to be, instead of merely having a picture of the character, the hoodie makes up the character itself, complete with ears! There’s a cute selection of Pokemon for you trainers out there, along with baby Yoda from Star Wars and another Stitch and Angel entry. These tend to be around the £25 - £30 mark too.

Hoodie Blankets - OHS

The Online Home Shop has an incredibly affordable range of ‘hoodie blankets’, and tends to be somewhat more subtle than some of the more adventurous designs of other brands. Maybe you want subtle. Maybe you’re not a fan of Pokemon and Star Wars and just want something super warm and stylish to wear around the house in the colder seasons, in which case, this site is perfect. All the hoodie blankets are a ‘One size fits all’, and also have a zip alternative, or extra long ones that look more like a bathrobe. But a really warm bathrobe, that you’d want to tuck in your legs and sleep in. These are much more affordable too, ranging from £6 onwards up to around £25.

After establishing a more structured skincare routine years ago, I always look for new skincare products and devices to try. So when PMD approached me to try the newest device from their ever-growing range, the PMD Wave Pro, I jumped at the chance!

The PMD Wave Pro skin spatula device

I've been a dedicated PMD fan since I first tried the PMD Clean Smart Facial Cleansing device. Fast forward to today, and the PMD Wave Pro is an amazing device for my skin!

What is the PMD Wave Pro?

The PMD Wave Pro is an advanced skin spatula that extracts, infuses and lifts the skin using SonicGlow technology. It also uses E-Wave technology to help leave the skin looking glowy and radiant.

What are the benefits of using the PMD Wave Pro?

There are great benefits to using this PMD skincare device. The benefits are:

  • It minimises the appearance of large pores and blackheads
  • Reduces oil congestion
  • Helps to achieve softer and smoother skin.
  • Helps the absorption of skincare products
  • Lifts and tones the skin

What are the three modes of the PMD Wave Pro and what does each one mean?

The skin spatula has three modes - Infuse, Extract and Lift.

"Extract" mode (Mode 1) uses negative ions to help lift debris and dead skin from the pores. Only use this mode weekly.

"Infuse" mode (Mode 2) uses positive ions that help absorb skincare products that you use. Use this mode daily.

"Lift" mode (Mode 3) helps to properly lift and tone the skin. You need to ensure that your fingers are on both Touch Points for the E-Wave technology to work. Use this mode daily.

What are the steps to use the PMD Wave Pro?

Step 1 - Dampen the skin with water or toner
Step 2 - Turn on Extract Mode and with the front turned downwards, gently glide onto the skin in an upward and downward motion.
Step 3 - Apply your moisturiser or serum.
Step 4 - Turn on Infuse Mode and, using the back of the device, infuse skincare in an upward motion.
Step 5 - Mist your face with toner.
Step 6 - Turn on Lift Mode, put your fingers on both Touch Points and lift in an upward and upward motion over the crow's feet, lip lines and eyebrows.
Step 7 - Turn on Extract Mode, place the PreciseXtractor over any blackheads or whiteheads and gently push down.

Is there anything else I should know about using this device?

The device comes with a charger. The device should be charged for 2-3 hours before its first use. If you're pregnant or have a pacemaker, you need to consult with a doctor before using this device. I should also make you aware that the beeping from this device is a little loud when near the ears, so wear earplugs if the noise is too much.

Is the PMD Wave Pro worth it?

I've used this device for a couple of weeks now and I have definitely noticed a big improvement in my skin in a short space of time. The device is such a multi-tasker, it helps the skin so much in just three modes. My favourite mode is the Infuse Mode as it helps to really stimulate my skincare into my skin. Because of that, my skin has had more of a glow lately and feels so much more rejuvenated.

The other mode I am really impressed with is Extract Mode. The gunk it has removed from my skin has been incredible. I honestly thought my skin was pretty ok in terms of whiteheads etc. The Extract Mode is such a game-changer when it comes to extracting whiteheads from the skin. With this mode, it's a lot gentler than other extracting devices, which is something I love.

I have loved this extra addition to my skincare routine. I tend to use the PMD Wave Pro at night because I have more time to go through each mode than I would in the morning. But obviously, each to their own!

I would definitely recommend buying this device if your skin needs a little pick-me-up!
