I'm Lucy and I'm an ambivert.

Whenever I have seen people I follow ask on their Stories whether we're an Introvert or Extrovert, I never know which option on the poll to tap. I tap on the one which depends on what my current activity is. If I'm sat inside watching The Repair Shop with a cuppa, then I tap Introvert. If I'm 'out out' necking Passionfruit Martinis, then I (tipsily) tap Extrovert. But I've never really wanted to place myself in one camp. They're both complete opposites on the personality spectrum and I can't put my finger on which one I belong to.

What It's Like Being An Ambivert

Just recently, I came across the word "Ambivert" and immediately related that this kind of personality. An ambivert is a person has a balance of being both an introvert and extrovert depending on their mood, situation and goals. It's like your smack bang in the middle of the personality spectrum. Yep guys, that's me. I'm so pleased that I have managed to find a personality trait/spectrum I can relate to and that I belong to, after years of wondering which of the other two most popular personality traits I belonged to, it's nice that to find out about the ambivert personality.

So, what's it like being an ambivert? Well, if you've been like me and felt unclear whether you're an ambivert or not, see if you can relate to these key traits -

1) YOU  LIKE  SOCIALISING  &  SPENDING  TIME  WITH  YOURSELF
__________
This is me in a nutshell. During the lockdown, as much as I enjoyed having time to myself, I really missed socialising and craved it so much. I love being out with friends and going to eat, drink cocktails or even doing something as simple as going for a walk. But then some days, I like to chill at home with a cuppa/glass of wine and just have that bit of me time. Now there's some normality back in our lives, it's been amazing to do both of these things properly again.

2) YOU  FEEL  COMFORTABLE  IN  DIFFERENT  ENVIRONMENTS
__________
Ok, this can differ in a lot of people. Some environments I feel at ease in. However, environments like festivals are places I don't feel relaxed in. Yet, most ambiverts feel relaxed being in whatever environment or place they find themselves in. Whether that be a crowded bar or in the living room watching Netflix, there's not many places an ambivert would not feel uncomfortable in or be a part of.

3) YOU  FEEL  INDECISIVE
__________
Oh my word, I'm the most indecisive person in the world. It can take me ages to make a decision and I'm not a fan of being put on the spot in that perspective. Sometimes a friend will come at me with a plan and I'll base my decision on what mood I'm in. Ambiverts usually withdraw from social situations or be unusually quiet when they're in a social situation they're not in the mood for. For example, if I go out and I'm not in the right frame of mind, I will almost certainly be quiet to the point where I don't bother to interact with my friends/family at all.

4) YOU  CAN  WORK  WITHIN  A  GROUP  &  WORK  SOLO
__________
I work as part of a team well and love working with my work mates to solve problems and to just help the day flow well. Then, I like doing things such as blogging on my own, having that time away to myself to write and create content is something I also thrive on. It could be the same for you too.

5) YOU'RE  VERY  EMPATHETIC
__________
Ambiverts generally are good listeners and can sympathise and put themselves in the shoes of others to help solve the plights of others. An ambivert can ask questions and try to help.

What Ambivert Means

I can honestly say that being an ambivert is fine with me. I feel happy that I have a personality trait I can relate my whole persona to, I'm proud to say that I'm an ambivert. I know people who will read this may not connect with this and will either side with being an introvert or extrovert. But I hope that this post has given you something to think about!

Are you an ambivert? Can you relate to this personality trait? Let me know!
