Even though the majority of women have heard about pelvic floor exercises/kegel exercises, education is still needed to fully understand the positive impact of these exercises. The good thing is that the topic of the pelvic floor and the exercises is a popular topic today and there are some good reasons why women should do them. Whether you are post-partum, have stress incontinence or, in my case, have a lung disease which means coughing has had an impact on my pelvic floor, kegel exercises are vital in terms of our pelvic floor health. It could be that exercising, sneezing, laughing or even lifting can impact your pelvic floor health. However, there is a device that can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles - the INTIMINA KegelSmart 2

The INTIMINA KegelSmart 2 kegel trainer

Let me just say first that every person's body is different. If you're unsure of anything, consult the nurse/doctor at your GP.

So, what is the KegelSmart 2 and how does it work?

INTIMINA's mission is to educate and empower women surrounding women's bodies. INTIMINA have now developed the KegelSmart 2, which is not rechargeable and smarter. The KegelSmart 2 is a simple rechargeable device which helps to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Once inserted, the device registers your pelvic floor strength and automatically sets your exercise level. Vibratory stimulation of the device helps to improve pelvic floor muscles. You would only need to use the kegel trainer for 5 minutes a day. As your pelvic floor strengthens when using the KegelSmart 2, it adapts and adjusts to your current pelvic floor strength level. The kegel exerciser device is 100% body safe as it's made of medical-grade silicone.

Who is best suited to use the KegelSmart 2?

Any woman can use it if they feel that they're noticing any 'leakage'. But this device is certainly beneficial for women who have stress incontinence, post-partum issues and even women with Cystic Fibrosis like me.

When can I start seeing results from using the KegelSmart 2 device?

You can usually start seeing results in 12 weeks (according to a study done on 49 women).

What are your thoughts on the KegelSmart 2?

Before I go into my thoughts on the KegelSmart 2, let me tell you the reason why I need to do pelvic exercises. As I said, I have a lung disease (Cystic Fibrosis) which is often nicknamed the "coughing disease". Now, coughing on a regular basis has had a negative impact on my pelvic floor muscles. I tried doing regular pelvic floor exercises daily, but would often forget to. The KegelSmart 2 has helped me to remember to do them and has had such a huge benefit on my pelvic floor muscles. I have noticed that there's less leakage and fewer 'oops' moments when laughing, coughing or sneezing.
