Values reflect our hearts' deepest desires. They are what we aspire to be and what we stand for. Having values guides us and motivates us to what we think, do and say. I have always known my values, but I know that my values aren't like everybody else's. <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Values are different from goals. They are not something we achieve, but they send us in a direction we individually work towards. I've always felt that my values reflect on my life and my past experiences - both good and bad. Not only that, but our values are ones that we were brought up on by our parents/guardians. When it comes to values, there is no right or wrong, it's simply what matters to us the most.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ9VgLEBc6HOKV1B6iH2Fsis4NgpxZ_PJ8dvPhuB_0VHtt5v54YczX6Ef5td9a58NGb8lTe2EdNdlZgr6R1Me1xw0HwIEMIYYn9TeofeBvWJnnDu5GoUZuPTNagyPI0bf3sKOJmq3zfxBxTZBRjAjaHKW24DFnlA_rCxLGwQOaJnL-0qHZPqd4EXnWe_zj/s2400/top%205%20values.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman sat on a bed holding a white mug." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ9VgLEBc6HOKV1B6iH2Fsis4NgpxZ_PJ8dvPhuB_0VHtt5v54YczX6Ef5td9a58NGb8lTe2EdNdlZgr6R1Me1xw0HwIEMIYYn9TeofeBvWJnnDu5GoUZuPTNagyPI0bf3sKOJmq3zfxBxTZBRjAjaHKW24DFnlA_rCxLGwQOaJnL-0qHZPqd4EXnWe_zj/s16000/top%205%20values.jpg" title="My-Top-Five-Very-Important-Values-In-Life-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Now, the values I'm going to list here may not be ones you practice in your life, but these are the ones that I deem the most important to me.</div><div><br /></div><div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">How did I know which values mean the most to me? </span></h4><div>A while ago, when I was having sessions with a psychologist to cope with my <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/05/health-anxiety-my-story.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">anxiety</span></i></b></a>, she asked me to do an exercise over Zoom on this <a href="https://www.meetingpointcounseling.com/tools/ACT-card-sort/"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">website</span></i></b></a> to see where my values align and split different values into three categories -</div><div><br /></div><div><i>Very Important</i></div><div><i>Important </i></div><div><i>No Important</i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><br /></div><div>The objective of this exercise was to see what values were important to me today, away from my anxiety. Honestly, picking my top 5 most important values was easier said than done. Out of 37 values, I had to narrow them down to five values which I consider to be "very important". This took me a good 15-20 minutes as the majority of these 37 values I consider to be vital in my life. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">However, after a lot of swapping and shifting, I finally narrowed my top 5 "very important" values to these (in no particular order) -</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) Loving - showing love, affection or great care to myself and others</span></h4><div>I'm all for showing love not to others, but myself. There are some incredible, beautiful and inspirational people in my life - I want to show them all the love and care they've given me. Through all the difficult, exciting and mad times, they've shown me love, patience and encouragement. I only want to give them that back. Also in regards to showing love for myself, I deserve to, given that I've been fighting a lung disease since I was a foetus. My body, mind and soul deserve a little loving and TLC!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4E4OEJ12n1ZtMpi-I-QhOEvcXehgRbVHbRImAWaW52QtInha719UGnxXD-dVhpuoVpUq8UdvBg5K2nuwce_J3saim-0dsuqtIxZVZ4pNAAgGR3E8_v3G_5OpXD13b92ZOW-DuVmv06OahmTA1e1Nihy1Wjf0eN8GcT7WtyNQvchlwsu_oeqG7RBrtLuI4/s2016/5%20very%20important%20values.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman sat on a bed holding a white mug." border="0" data-original-height="1537" data-original-width="2016" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4E4OEJ12n1ZtMpi-I-QhOEvcXehgRbVHbRImAWaW52QtInha719UGnxXD-dVhpuoVpUq8UdvBg5K2nuwce_J3saim-0dsuqtIxZVZ4pNAAgGR3E8_v3G_5OpXD13b92ZOW-DuVmv06OahmTA1e1Nihy1Wjf0eN8GcT7WtyNQvchlwsu_oeqG7RBrtLuI4/s16000/5%20very%20important%20values.jpg" title="My-Top-Five-Very-Important-Values-In-Life-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) Friendly - warm, open, caring and agreeable towards others</span></h4><div>It's better to be nice than not be nice at all. What is the point of being unfriendly to someone? It doesn't make you a better person and I'd rather be friendly to someone than be a b*tch. Being friendly is something as simple as saying good morning to someone as they walk past you. Not being afraid to start up conversations with others. Saying hello to a new work colleague and making them feel at ease. It doesn't hurt to be friendly towards others.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) Kind - being considerate, helpful or caring to myself and others</span></h4><div>I love kindness. Sprinkle that sh*t everywhere. Being kind doesn't need to cost the Earth. There are SO many acts of kindness you can do for not just others, but yourself too. Being kind to yourself is important for your mental health and well-being. If you're wondering how to be kind to yourself, it could be something as simple as doing an act of self-care, showing gratitude or recognising yourself when you achieve a personal goal. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Mindful/Present - fully present and engaging in whatever I'm doing</span></h4><div>This is a value that has become very important for me in my life. Being mindful and present is something I want to introduce into my everyday life. I don't want to dwell on the past or think too much about my future. I want to be present and mindful in this current moment. For me, thinking about the past and thinking about the future has an effect on my mental health. Thinking about bad mistakes doesn't do me any favours, I need to deflect myself away from that as it starts my overthinking. It's kind of the same when I think about my future. I start overthinking about what the future may hold for myself and others and that affects my mental health also. I want to be more mindful and present with today. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3wTkGddksKEKDcaBMiQdvW2Js21bB0MPl1CakTzkS1qhe8SCmwAw2li7AueBF4oj8tGHRRKgnK40HFh6nSlpIfR1GRuWbkQBRD-BZB7hwfcTA4AA3D5NOUamlkZ4GdjuIdkxl42CBiombqvLMKhudBvkeJbXHC3LjMJ02NCLfxtrKOHLCFAuXQQYIRbha/s1600/my%20top%205%20values.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman sat on a bed holding a white mug." border="0" data-original-height="1416" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3wTkGddksKEKDcaBMiQdvW2Js21bB0MPl1CakTzkS1qhe8SCmwAw2li7AueBF4oj8tGHRRKgnK40HFh6nSlpIfR1GRuWbkQBRD-BZB7hwfcTA4AA3D5NOUamlkZ4GdjuIdkxl42CBiombqvLMKhudBvkeJbXHC3LjMJ02NCLfxtrKOHLCFAuXQQYIRbha/s16000/my%20top%205%20values.jpg" title="My-Top-Five-Very-Important-Values-In-Life-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">5) Independent - choosing for myself what I do and how I live</span></h4></div><div>I love being independent. Being independent gives me such a confidence boost. It's good for my self-esteem. I'm someone who does take advice on board, but I'm also someone who likes to go against advice sometimes if it's not right for me. Being independent, for me, means making decisions about what I want to do and how I choose to live. This value has been a priority of mine for years, I feel if I don't have independence, I have nothing. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So these are my top five very important values in my life!</span></h4><div>As I said before, everybody's values are different from one another. Some of my values you may not agree with, and that's fine! I'd love for you to try sorting out your values into those categories by tapping/clicking the link above. It'll be interesting to see which values you deem to be essential in your life. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Let me know your thoughts!</span></h4>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8541552407677501610.post-48468628371029326662024-03-11T02:13:00.000-07:002024-03-11T02:13:46.881-07:00Hello Klean: A Review of the Shower and Haircare Brand<!--Google tag (gtag.js)-->

<i>*There are PR items from Hello Klean in this post. See the end of the post for more details. </i><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Ever notice this - when you wash your hair in different places, your hair feels different to what it would feel if you washed it at home? I get you. Whenever I've been away to a hotel, if I wash my hair there, my hair feels more luxurious afterwards than it would when I wash it in my bathroom. This could be because of 'hard water'. The type of water that runs through our taps is defined by whether it's hard or soft water. Hard water means when water has a high mineral content. Meanwhile, soft water has a lower content of minerals present. I looked at a map of this and I live in an area where we have moderately hard water. This means that it can be harder to properly clean hair and skin. However, Hello Klean has come up with a solution to this problem.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNBPP9IodXhyphenhyphenL1zlxsKw_rzh5mmKd2H7wQ5Zb4OHHKfMLpkk5KZouuM_JdYLhRGiT3HsBbBD4v7yx3GisO0jqBTJzxcN5G0jsaLkONR6x_pe01eIijhPQv7Se2uqtyruTJYCnyyCknEx0BH6BemCLrZxT9aFq9CWiK-UbT39nzymmVrZEp1uqkIltMZ-NX/s2400/hello%20klean%20products.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Hello Klean Clarifying Scalp Soak and Exfoliating Scalp Brush." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNBPP9IodXhyphenhyphenL1zlxsKw_rzh5mmKd2H7wQ5Zb4OHHKfMLpkk5KZouuM_JdYLhRGiT3HsBbBD4v7yx3GisO0jqBTJzxcN5G0jsaLkONR6x_pe01eIijhPQv7Se2uqtyruTJYCnyyCknEx0BH6BemCLrZxT9aFq9CWiK-UbT39nzymmVrZEp1uqkIltMZ-NX/s16000/hello%20klean%20products.jpg" title="Hello-Klean-A-Review-of-the-Shower-and-Haircare-Brand-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Who are Hello Klean?</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://helloklean.com/"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Hello Klean</span></i></b></a> is a company that aims to wash away all of your hard water woes with their shower care products. My scalp does look a little healthier than it did previously. I wouldn't use it for every hair wash, but it's good to have it when my scalp needs a little TLC.</div><div><br /></div><div>The star of the show for me has to be the Scalp Brush. Since I've been using it when I shampoo my hair, I've noticed the difference in terms of how soft my hair feels afterwards! I've even used it when my hair is dry (washing the brush in between uses) so my scalp gets a little pick-me-up in between hair washes. </div><div><br /></div><div>I would recommend Hello Klean if you're someone who lives in an area notoriously known for having hard water. If I had a working shower, I would have loved to try the Purifying Shower Head to see if that made a difference to my hair. </div><div><br /></div><div>What I also love about this brand is that their products and packaging have a lovely minimalistic look and also their sustainability practice. Most of Hello Klean's products are recyclable (except their filter mixes). </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Overall, I really like Hello Klean and I love what the brand is doing and what they stand for!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2bxp4oClqb5vdn9JxBsw5P8RGIvbbIRRibAzz4u1rEV3CcR9evj08woRe5iVtVIam1nkMyvFX5NPkymGSeZ6SrMUEupnYlFLM4JDWjDSvTpMmtTXT6L5OBFOktvIr_y6sz5VBz4gMvcy3vz_fpwXD9wZfTy8o0KK8CnmNz_VyEw1p-zZclFhAZiknS7rp/s2400/hello%20klean%20scalp%20soak%20and%20scalp%20brush.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Hello Klean Clarifying Sclap Soak and Exfoliating Scalp Brush." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2bxp4oClqb5vdn9JxBsw5P8RGIvbbIRRibAzz4u1rEV3CcR9evj08woRe5iVtVIam1nkMyvFX5NPkymGSeZ6SrMUEupnYlFLM4JDWjDSvTpMmtTXT6L5OBFOktvIr_y6sz5VBz4gMvcy3vz_fpwXD9wZfTy8o0KK8CnmNz_VyEw1p-zZclFhAZiknS7rp/s16000/hello%20klean%20scalp%20soak%20and%20scalp%20brush.jpg" title="Hello-Klean-A-Review-of-the-Shower-and-Haircare-Brand-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">I'd love to know your thoughts on this!</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><i>*These items from Hello Klean were sent to me in exchange for a review. <div style="text-align: center;"><i>This post contains PR items. See the end of the post for more details. </i></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Natural deodorants are one sustainable bandwagon I have yet to jump on. I've been reluctant and sceptical about trying a natural deodorant. I'm very self-conscious about how I smell, especially during the Summer when I feel sweatier and somewhat wilted. I am a woman who likes to pack on the deodorant during the warmer months. This is why I haven't glanced at natural deodorants - for fear that I would leave a green streak of mist behind me everywhere I walk. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaibKvkUExDyA3GcrTnaubvQHCcj8Pjn58wQeFnWwOrzsnarDavmVLn0HoSPS0UtAfn9POdOj2xzgm7jBrinqH5w7t9fO1LvSW1GLbkG0zKlCWoBONBJENrPCeL6TB0WjUuqdtbAAqQ873PWN4j-tqHr-tK6QYSTq9lcYYzaRp5Nl9KkIsCxODVul_xtvY/s2400/using%20a%20natural%20deodorant.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman using a Salt of the Earth natural deodorant." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaibKvkUExDyA3GcrTnaubvQHCcj8Pjn58wQeFnWwOrzsnarDavmVLn0HoSPS0UtAfn9POdOj2xzgm7jBrinqH5w7t9fO1LvSW1GLbkG0zKlCWoBONBJENrPCeL6TB0WjUuqdtbAAqQ873PWN4j-tqHr-tK6QYSTq9lcYYzaRp5Nl9KkIsCxODVul_xtvY/s16000/using%20a%20natural%20deodorant.jpg" title="Natural-Deodorants-Why-You-Should-Try-Them-At-Least-Once-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>However, after reading about the benefits of using natural deodorants, I thought I would try. What have I got to lose? I've seen so many people I follow use natural deodorants and rave about them, I kind of felt intrigued to see what the fuss was about and see if the hype was worth it. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I got sent this natural deodorant from Salt of the Earth recently, so there would not be a better time for me to try it. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://saltoftheearthnatural.com/"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Salt of the Earth</span></i></b></a> are a UK natural deodorant brand whose products are certified natural, vegan and cruelty-free. They sell a range of deodorant products to suit everyone's preferences from sprays to roll-ons to balms to even crystal deodorants. They also sell refills for some of their deodorants and the factory they make their products in uses 100% sustainable electricity. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>When I first tried this deodorant (disclaimer, I did a allergy test on my wrist 24 hours before use), the smell hit me first - it smelled so good! As their deodorants are made of natural ingredients, there's no chemical-like smell after spraying. As this was a new deodorant for me to try, I was a little worried about it keeping me protected in terms of sweat and odour. After applying the deodorant, I did my daily workout routine. When I had finished, I still felt quite fresh and not needing to grab the bottle for another spray or three! The scent of this one here is 'Spiced Gingerbread', Christmas themed one. But there are plenty of other scents for you to choose from on Salt of the Earth!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUr3oSHVbQQKzhVc33kIceDRN0x9l_KLl3OpGLAj4EcUuOKV1wjAsofF_9clayGFvKqtutFmdHZUdrC19RyaEYheR3u1CBdgmCKBtH0XW8iIkgE4RiYGClgYYrorAb0V_e-R_HrJB1aS-Hk1HHXn-zkrR5Mt_rIog2QyV54zqOOD4xvBbmV5PpAyWydoZD/s2400/natural%20deodorant.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A brown bottle of the Salt of the Earth natural deodorant" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUr3oSHVbQQKzhVc33kIceDRN0x9l_KLl3OpGLAj4EcUuOKV1wjAsofF_9clayGFvKqtutFmdHZUdrC19RyaEYheR3u1CBdgmCKBtH0XW8iIkgE4RiYGClgYYrorAb0V_e-R_HrJB1aS-Hk1HHXn-zkrR5Mt_rIog2QyV54zqOOD4xvBbmV5PpAyWydoZD/s16000/natural%20deodorant.jpg" title="Natural-Deodorants-Why-You-Should-Try-Them-At-Least-Once-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>I would definitely recommend this brand if you're looking to try a natural deodorant for the first time. However, if you're still sceptical as to whether a natural deodorant is right for you, then read on.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>There are lots of benefits to using a natural deodorant, even if you just want to try it at least once. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Here are some of the reasons why you should at least try a natural deodorant:</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) They are safe to use</span></h4><div>There is no aluminium in a natural deodorant. As aluminium can be toxic and it can make the smell worse once it wears off. Natural deodorants contain natural ingredients (obviously I know) instead of the standard aluminium, synthetics and propellants in normal deodorants.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) No more yellow stains</span></h4><div>Now this is one benefit I am all for! I suffer with yellow stains on my tees which is highly annoying. I did not realise it was because of the aluminium in my normal deodorant. This is definitely a good enough reason for me to swap to a natural deodorant!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) They eliminate odours</span></h4><div>We want any deodorant we use to eliminate odour when we sweat. The combination of natural ingredients used in making natural deodorants will do just that.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Much better for sensitive skin</span></h4><div>If you are someone who has sensitive skin, a natural deodorant is your best option. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">5) They don't clog your pores</span></h4><div>Sweating is a natural function in our bodies, it helps to regulate our body temperature. Also by sweating, your body is getting rid of the harmful toxins in your body. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglpwvag1l1XNr93uXvGWslkgE2gSgQAx1G4SLT87x7oPTAN-8wbMo6vyxp9UMPklhQMwMKSATCHAgb3fVP0t6DB0xcHmbQ9bbmGnmic39G79mxk79mxSOkYwoxBnTnLh7_27Y5tn6ta-WGwRq1JDyVIc3Ak1_ebx4f62ZF21neOh5AcfOMs7hHgojl8IT6/s2400/salt%20of%20the%20earth%20natural%20deodorant.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A brown bottle of the Salt of the Earth natural deodorant." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglpwvag1l1XNr93uXvGWslkgE2gSgQAx1G4SLT87x7oPTAN-8wbMo6vyxp9UMPklhQMwMKSATCHAgb3fVP0t6DB0xcHmbQ9bbmGnmic39G79mxk79mxSOkYwoxBnTnLh7_27Y5tn6ta-WGwRq1JDyVIc3Ak1_ebx4f62ZF21neOh5AcfOMs7hHgojl8IT6/s16000/salt%20of%20the%20earth%20natural%20deodorant.jpg" title="Natural-Deodorants-Why-You-Should-Try-Them-At-Least-Once-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">The big question is, will I be making the swap to a natural deodorant?</span></h4><div>I think my answer is yes! I may do a bit more research to try other natural deodorant brands to see which one works best for me. A simple conversation with my Mam while driving in the car is the inspiration behind this post. I won't delve into the conversation as I wouldn't want to bore you. However, she told me to stop belittling my illness. Now, my Mam is the nicest woman in the world (biased I know) I know that she didn't use the term 'belittling' to insult me or be derogatory in any way. I knew exactly what she was trying to say. Since that innocent conversation in the car, I've been thinking about what she said a lot. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDB_35QtzYUt2ELiu3ZiEUja69XEHEhH2sr1av1Xu-UaKqJUWVmeTi6ne5ZxHVaD8eClIYdCcXAIXjDc_2P2pvzYuqcvymA0YK0Zf9d9zoxfRKMSkzU3CNutweATGL1DhGGEnKwWqDzYrEa5xntKXobnyQwB2aGqD-YOZp89oi4PQMw-mckWnhJ3M5yqBy/s2400/do%20i%20downplay%20my%20illness.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A white trinket dish with tablets on." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDB_35QtzYUt2ELiu3ZiEUja69XEHEhH2sr1av1Xu-UaKqJUWVmeTi6ne5ZxHVaD8eClIYdCcXAIXjDc_2P2pvzYuqcvymA0YK0Zf9d9zoxfRKMSkzU3CNutweATGL1DhGGEnKwWqDzYrEa5xntKXobnyQwB2aGqD-YOZp89oi4PQMw-mckWnhJ3M5yqBy/s16000/do%20i%20downplay%20my%20illness.jpg" title="Am-I-Guilty-For-Downplaying-My-Illness-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Am I really guilty of downplaying my illness?</span></h4><div><br /><div><div>Now, for those who are new to my blog or for those who don't know much about me, I have <i><a href="https://www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk/what-is-cystic-fibrosis"><b><span style="color: #e06666;">Cystic Fibrosis</span></b></a></i>. It's a chronic genetic condition which affects the lungs, digestive system and sinuses. To be fair, it also affects other parts of the body. But those three are the main affected areas/organs. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, thinking back to that car conversation, it really stuck in my mind. I couldn't shake off what my Mam said because, deep down, I knew that it was possibly true. Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware of the seriousness of <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2021/06/6-things-i-wish-people-knew-about-cf.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Cystic Fibrosis</span></i></b></a> (CF) and I don't deny that. But maybe the reason I downplay my illness is that I choose to but in a subconscious way. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">When I'm out and about, I don't choose to highlight or talk about my illness.</span></h4><div>I don't go around with a sign around my neck declaring that I have an illness. I don't choose to be so open about it unless I need to. For me, I like to keep CF at home. I don't like to take it everywhere with me. I mean, I do have to take tablets when I eat meals so that's a bit of a giveaway when I'm in a pub or restaurant. The only time I talk about CF is if someone asks me how I am and how my health is. Even then, I will try to be as brief as possible and not divulge too much information. </div></div></div></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqS3NW_mh3kZKYHidcs_mBm6D15i-Nm3oCSKVB5ZXm7vHkNGamSw5x24I_9Nl-S-UtvJppwSccGy0aNvjokPfT1N13kfGxBC5KH6zoU3A6h7H7sk2dg-ytbdtcGRVEKagL50mWlLR46Y0l8XsA-4VLAN31f0WeIUKUhjdhZh0upx02mrFO_AUCZWEgiCd3/s2284/downplaying%20my%20illness.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A white trinket dish with gold trim with tablets on." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqS3NW_mh3kZKYHidcs_mBm6D15i-Nm3oCSKVB5ZXm7vHkNGamSw5x24I_9Nl-S-UtvJppwSccGy0aNvjokPfT1N13kfGxBC5KH6zoU3A6h7H7sk2dg-ytbdtcGRVEKagL50mWlLR46Y0l8XsA-4VLAN31f0WeIUKUhjdhZh0upx02mrFO_AUCZWEgiCd3/s16000/downplaying%20my%20illness.jpg" title="Am-I-Guilty-For-Downplaying-My-Illness-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>This may sound like I have a sense of shame for having CF. That is in no way true. Weirdly, I'm proud of the fact that I manage to conquer this illness every day and overcome every obstacle it's thrown at me. But I think I don't choose to highlight it every day not just to the people I love, but even online. I have had a few fellow bloggers praise me for raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis as they didn't know much about it until they followed me. That's quite a proud moment for me. I'm just someone who doesn't delve into the nitty-gritty unless it's necessary eg if my health is playing up. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>With me, if I feel well and feel that I have good control over things concerning my health, I feel that I don't need to elaborate any further. Maybe that is what my Mam meant about me belittling and downplaying my illness. It's not that I don't take CF seriously or do not fully comprehend the severity of it, it's just that I won't elaborate unless it's necessary. I'm not downplaying it, it's just that I don't like to bring it to the centre of attention.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I'd love to know your thoughts on this, whether you have a chronic illness/condition or not. I would like to see if you would do the same or if you have done the same.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Let me know your thoughts!</span></h4>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com23tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8541552407677501610.post-77815202165665995562024-02-26T05:37:00.000-08:002024-02-26T05:38:39.827-08:00Four Factors I Consider When Creating Fashion Reels & Posts<!--Google tag (gtag.js)-->

I love creating fashion posts. It's something I love to do and something I love sharing with you. However, I don't like how I manage to create Mount Clothing after shooting clothes reels and posts. But that's a story for another day. But making fashion reels, as much as it's enjoyable, can come with its obstacles. There are some factors I take into consideration before creating any fashion reels and posts. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc61OSLc2N2LQtUVeqWWcxrN9w4jiAIzNOPcTLt_i7-wXMdGori0dFWFmiON1o0XS37z9B_m7nfXH3rhgQE8BBRU3tLG7uhMwbLkTT67IPUw7-6Pt_AoujSXI17M-K6gWwGrZjywFjtshNiM-VK9oQyufpnXzKZXDFgJFyOVLK8teTpXPP6BaIY7JPWicR/s2400/creating%20fashion%20content.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A magazine, a candle, a beige watch and gold bracelet." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc61OSLc2N2LQtUVeqWWcxrN9w4jiAIzNOPcTLt_i7-wXMdGori0dFWFmiON1o0XS37z9B_m7nfXH3rhgQE8BBRU3tLG7uhMwbLkTT67IPUw7-6Pt_AoujSXI17M-K6gWwGrZjywFjtshNiM-VK9oQyufpnXzKZXDFgJFyOVLK8teTpXPP6BaIY7JPWicR/s16000/creating%20fashion%20content.jpg" title="Four-Factors-I-Consider-When-Creating-Fashion-Reels-&-Posts-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>I've always said that I will create and post content that my audience can relate to, appreciate, and like to read or watch. For example, I would never create content about lawnmowers as I know (I think) most of my followers have zero interest in lawnmowers. Just FYI - I have no interest in lawnmowers. But you get what I mean. I always strive to create content I know my followers will be interested in, including fashion content.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>As I've said, there are factors that I consider when creating fashion posts and reels. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Here are the factors that I consider when creating fashion reels and posts:</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) Lighting</span></h4><div>If it's a dark cloudy day, I may as well pack my tripod away and try another day. Lighting is key for me when shooting fashion content. I want to ensure that the shade of clothes I'm wearing is reflected accurately on camera. I can't shoot a light blue suit on a dark day, the light shade of blue wouldn't show up properly on the photos, even after editing. For me, it's got to be a sunny day (not when the sun is shining through the window) or it's got to be slightly overcast. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHSjDIPct0KVijseaTXMyUBCpIfaypHdt1_GVrUpGoLl-Mz-mYVfJ5ftGRgj1NuqKgy74ygH7gzyI4dtb-GNHNyb085Z4594vYaFm7gaBZXSBjxHRkspTXWD6xLt7kzAF238vL0FQcGEp7CfzfIwV9Rp1iCpCIwDNkXLhGkUweoAwhIwELIX3u5MxDC6VP/s2278/factors%20to%20consider%20when%20creating%20fashion%20content.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A magazine, a candle, a beige watch and a gold bracelet." border="0" data-original-height="1561" data-original-width="2278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHSjDIPct0KVijseaTXMyUBCpIfaypHdt1_GVrUpGoLl-Mz-mYVfJ5ftGRgj1NuqKgy74ygH7gzyI4dtb-GNHNyb085Z4594vYaFm7gaBZXSBjxHRkspTXWD6xLt7kzAF238vL0FQcGEp7CfzfIwV9Rp1iCpCIwDNkXLhGkUweoAwhIwELIX3u5MxDC6VP/s16000/factors%20to%20consider%20when%20creating%20fashion%20content.jpg" title="Four-Factors-I-Consider-When-Creating-Fashion-Reels-&-Posts-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) Will you or I actually wear it?</span></h4><div>When choosing outfits to wear for reels or blog posts, I ask myself two questions:</div><div><br /></div><div><i>1) Is it something my followers would take inspo from?</i></div><div><i>2) Will I actually wear it myself?</i></div><div><br /></div><div>If the answer is no to either or both of these questions, then the outfit idea takes a back burner and I'll try something else. When it comes to fashion content, I want to wear outfits that I know I'll wear as an everyday look or going out-out look. Also, I want to show outfits that you guys may take inspiration from or even try to wear something similar yourself. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) Is it something my followers may have in their wardrobe already?</span></h4><div>I promise you guys, I'm not going to start asking you what's in your wardrobe or go snooping around. But when it comes to creating outfits, I like to create outfits with items that may be in a lot of people's wardrobes such as <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/11/black-trousers-outfit-ideas.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">black trousers</span></i></b></a> or a <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/06/blue-shirt-few-outfit-ideas-style-inspo.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">blue shirt</span></i></b></a>. I like my outfits to have a lot of versatility about them. Speaking of versatility...</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZKwUPCwGegH3evdd7epr21qXFBPpHOO2rhkQ9YCZFelbZ4_wnuB2tptTVUXulUC7fFf3OFAUPxxLfIA4rUjneKnhUdgt91lpR0pTMeT-uzIc-Ce9phgYcivVzhh03cHHw867l_F6poWSJbFsKRpO4OnSS43gZ-uWSEArKWJWGXFtf-fldlgHtYLsU5zLX/s2400/factors%20to%20consider%20when%20making%20fashion%20content.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A magazine, a candle, a beige watch and a gold bracelet" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZKwUPCwGegH3evdd7epr21qXFBPpHOO2rhkQ9YCZFelbZ4_wnuB2tptTVUXulUC7fFf3OFAUPxxLfIA4rUjneKnhUdgt91lpR0pTMeT-uzIc-Ce9phgYcivVzhh03cHHw867l_F6poWSJbFsKRpO4OnSS43gZ-uWSEArKWJWGXFtf-fldlgHtYLsU5zLX/s16000/factors%20to%20consider%20when%20making%20fashion%20content.jpg" title="Four-Factors-I-Consider-When-Creating-Fashion-Reels-&-Posts-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Is it a versatile look?</span></h4><div>I'm all for sustainability when it comes to buying clothes and creating outfits. It's a lot easier to have one piece that can be worn with different looks than one piece that can be worn with just 1-2 looks tops. For example, a black leather jacket is an item that can be worn with different outfits. A bright floral top can maybe only be worn with a pair of jeans and nice shoes. See where I'm coming from? I'd rather create versatile outfits, it gives my followers some ideas for different looks that suit their individual style. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">These are the four factors I consider when creating fashion reels and posts!</span></h4><div>I'd love to know your thoughts! Is there a particular piece of clothing that you would like me to write about or create outfits with? Let me know any ideas you have!</div>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8541552407677501610.post-54504092181055580192024-02-21T01:26:00.000-08:002024-02-21T02:47:02.810-08:00The Worst Thing You Ever Did by Karen Perry: A Book Review<!--Google tag (gtag.js)-->

Besides the rom-coms, I do like to read the odd thriller book here and there. To change things up a bit from time to time. The last domestic thriller I read was <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/10/the-love-of-my-life-by-rosie-walsh-review.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh</span></i></b></a>, which I absolutely loved. So, after being a good girl at my hospital appointment a couple of weeks back, I picked up this one as a little treat for myself. It's called The Worst Thing You Ever Did by Karen Perry. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3WjYGxPYrcARMoemx1w_jJjDMEgK8RoJeCwrT8k6TAlmUgPjDGuiejLpB6Cm-H59rDZhZnVEDr4fgWXP6ToJJuXeYrl7nYq41mhiMnSdqJjtaMoPGe34k5m3fso6DxRqwDQJO5eNQrnKAR1eYo9pNN1l6CcLa3JfaegihzmFMJiZS0A0mumZlQ6YmONf/s4032/the%20worst%20thing%20you%20ever%20did%20by%20karen%20perry%20book.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="The Worst Thing You Ever Did by Karen Perry book." border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3WjYGxPYrcARMoemx1w_jJjDMEgK8RoJeCwrT8k6TAlmUgPjDGuiejLpB6Cm-H59rDZhZnVEDr4fgWXP6ToJJuXeYrl7nYq41mhiMnSdqJjtaMoPGe34k5m3fso6DxRqwDQJO5eNQrnKAR1eYo9pNN1l6CcLa3JfaegihzmFMJiZS0A0mumZlQ6YmONf/s16000/the%20worst%20thing%20you%20ever%20did%20by%20karen%20perry%20book.jpg" title="The-Worst-Thing-You-Ever-Did-by-Karen-Perry-A-Book-Review-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Karen Perry is an author I hadn't heard of until I picked up this book. Apparently, this is her newest release and she mainly writes thriller and mystery books. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So, what's this book about?</span></h4><div>The book centres around Faye, a woman who has her life finally on track. She has a husband who loves her, a good circle of friends and a thriving career in Ireland. However, Faye is hiding a dark secret which only her ex Michael knows. When Faye starts to get threatening notes at work from someone anonymous, she starts to think it's Michael, whom she ends up meeting to straighten things out. Michael vehemently denies that it's him, but is he telling the complete truth?</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Faye strongly believes that it's Michael sending these threatening notes even though he's denied it. However, on a writing retreat, Faye's husband Ed befriends a new friend called 'Jamesie' who could tear her world apart. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>How long can Faye keep her secret? </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>We do find out Faye's secret as we go through the book as the plot is split into two perspectives. The present-day and back in 2010 when Michael and Faye were stuck in Barcelona because of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud grounding flights. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5wkdf4zzo9FxbjyBiTqpDh8I2JV8ABu9JFC6KkInrYLV23YQsu81CF0pAkj7ODQyoyR0BP5qog8H06Yy75FIx-W4-6Fph34s3L6nuHSur858uRqUvfseN1FMdpWGUHbpz1XQ6ICWkBEM9gtHY44vtNktxKBtmYS62M3LxRwcd-mwjSlHjumhzdP1lkJ5N/s4032/the%20worst%20thing%20you%20ever%20did%20by%20karen%20perry.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="The Worst Thing You Ever Did by Karen Perry book." border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5wkdf4zzo9FxbjyBiTqpDh8I2JV8ABu9JFC6KkInrYLV23YQsu81CF0pAkj7ODQyoyR0BP5qog8H06Yy75FIx-W4-6Fph34s3L6nuHSur858uRqUvfseN1FMdpWGUHbpz1XQ6ICWkBEM9gtHY44vtNktxKBtmYS62M3LxRwcd-mwjSlHjumhzdP1lkJ5N/s16000/the%20worst%20thing%20you%20ever%20did%20by%20karen%20perry.jpg" title="The-Worst-Thing-You-Ever-Did-by-Karen-Perry-A-Book-Review-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Would I recommend The Worst Thing You Ever Did?</span></h4><div>This book is one of those books that just fell a little flat for me. The story didn't really grip me until the last 3-4 chapters of the book. Those chapters did have me on the edge of my seat! </div><div><br /></div><div>I felt that this book left me with a lot of answered questions. The ending felt rushed as we didn't really get Ed's reaction to his wife's big secret. As I was reading through, I could sense what the plotline was going to be at the end, but it still gripped me in those last few chapters.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>As Faye fell pregnant at the start of the book, she went through a lot of unnecessary stress which didn't help by her husband sticking up for his new friend over her on a certain occasion (won't reveal anything here). He should have listened to Faye, that's all I'm saying! Ed is a bit of a wet blanket though. </div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>Even though I kind of predicted how it was going to end, it was a gripping read near the end of the book, which is why I don't totally dislike this book.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><i><b>*Trigger warning - this book deals with mental health and death.</b></i></div><div><i><b><br /></b></i></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">I'd love to know your thoughts on this! After using the cleansing side of the device, my skin really does feel so refreshed and toned afterwards. This device is perfect for anyone who suffers from acne and needs a device which can eliminate that. </div><div><br /></div><div>One thing I will say is that to get the maximum results of using the PMD Clean Acne, you need to use it daily and be consistent. </div><div><br /></div><div>Overall, I would highly recommend the PMD Clean Acne as a really great facial cleansing device!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9zoA9yqxY2Q_ZGXRoYTuQnOF7O7bMByxJapf7DNBR7Sud1O8JjvZrUNJ1t93jOBoPGhDPeALH35h8dRRIKVVKD8owUiPfjBzYx_3bAiIZdvt5WkV81BDGkC0MUGSAAPNI7SoMcOMqbfjlrcHqkWoTyT3D86gQBjPpUWGrvIUzAYVtGTxGjZg1KuNSZ6Je/s2400/pmd%20clean%20acne%20facial%20cleansing%20device.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="PMD Clean Acne device." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9zoA9yqxY2Q_ZGXRoYTuQnOF7O7bMByxJapf7DNBR7Sud1O8JjvZrUNJ1t93jOBoPGhDPeALH35h8dRRIKVVKD8owUiPfjBzYx_3bAiIZdvt5WkV81BDGkC0MUGSAAPNI7SoMcOMqbfjlrcHqkWoTyT3D86gQBjPpUWGrvIUzAYVtGTxGjZg1KuNSZ6Je/s16000/pmd%20clean%20acne%20facial%20cleansing%20device.jpg" title="PMD-Clean-Acne-A-Review-of-the-Facial-Cleansing-Device-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Fancy a discount? I've finished my first book of 2024! Well, I technically started this book the last month of 2023, but I finished it the January of this year. Anyhow, the book, Only Love Can Hurt Like This is the book I'm discussing today. This is the first book by Paige Toon I've read. I had heard some really good reviews about this book in particular, and I know that Paige has written some other really wonderful books, which I'm keen to read in the future.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgctam4r2rw1rz2casLg0q5yL2VOkT771i0ck7oFgPmfrordlBATDcB3ivMOjJuTROsSXXs16Oa7nTETeRfWR18kjAiaTB41-XZGGQbNmWznuozy82zgjNuJ4UEEC0FfEoIQz_k6d4kQ18e1X6G1cNQqy2_GE-O7Ug7vRlSx2GpgGN1zXRKkrkQkJk2f_Oy/s4032/only%20love%20can%20hurt%20like%20this%20by%20paige%20toon.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paige Toon book." border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgctam4r2rw1rz2casLg0q5yL2VOkT771i0ck7oFgPmfrordlBATDcB3ivMOjJuTROsSXXs16Oa7nTETeRfWR18kjAiaTB41-XZGGQbNmWznuozy82zgjNuJ4UEEC0FfEoIQz_k6d4kQ18e1X6G1cNQqy2_GE-O7Ug7vRlSx2GpgGN1zXRKkrkQkJk2f_Oy/s16000/only%20love%20can%20hurt%20like%20this%20by%20paige%20toon.jpg" title="Only-Love-Can-Hurt-Like-This-by-Paige-Toon-A-Book-Review-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So, what's this book about then?</span></h4><div>As far as titles go, one can assume that this book will be a heartbreaker. Wren, an architect who lives in Bury St Edmund, is just getting over a breakup with her ex, Scott. After Scott falls in love with his work colleague Nadine, Wren decides to go to Indiana, where her father lives with his now wife, Sheryl. Wren has a stepsister, Bailey, a wedding planner who is also residing in Indiana. Wren and Bailey go out to a bar one night, which is where they meet brothers Jonas and Anders. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>After a rocky start, Anders and Wren start to get along and get close. However, Anders lost his wife four years ago and is still not over her. However, Anders is harbouring a secret which will change everything. If he acts on any feelings he has for Wren, it will have serious repercussions. But it would hurt Wren if she walked away, but when she knows the truth, how can she possibly stay? </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>And no, I'm not going to tell you what the secret is! It's quite a sad one which had me torn as to what was for the best (if that makes any sense!)</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Would I recommend Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paige Toon?</span></h4><div>Oh, this book had me swooning, crying and melting in more ways than one. This is such a page-turner, a heartbreaking read in parts, I even got emotional in some chapters of the book. Anders' secret is an incredibly tough one to keep and it's self-explanatory to see why he can't move on from his wife. But Wren has changed his life and you can see how conflicted he is during the second half of the book in particular. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJCwMwZKb5UvJgAayV8w4Zpq7bL-5igS_1HNQk4A0_GELaV9LCasnLm8n0dsX8nieBZ7FX9f2RuOeYQUJee1VJzEEfaNVySFKJLW2lqCcpEkxJN-hJVomDg6IWWvL3bXbKaP_Ar824j9jL_WYjT0tIrEW1Ca7uVSQL0abUHj1iifkUaobWGmxN9FQKZO33/s4032/only%20love%20can%20hurt%20like%20this%20paige%20toon.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paige Toon book" border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJCwMwZKb5UvJgAayV8w4Zpq7bL-5igS_1HNQk4A0_GELaV9LCasnLm8n0dsX8nieBZ7FX9f2RuOeYQUJee1VJzEEfaNVySFKJLW2lqCcpEkxJN-hJVomDg6IWWvL3bXbKaP_Ar824j9jL_WYjT0tIrEW1Ca7uVSQL0abUHj1iifkUaobWGmxN9FQKZO33/s16000/only%20love%20can%20hurt%20like%20this%20paige%20toon.jpg" title="Only-Love-Can-Hurt-Like-This-by-Paige-Toon-A-Book-Review-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">It's an incredibly moving book, I ended up rooting for Wren and Anders so much.</span> </h4><div>The other characters in the book are great. I absolutely loved Anders' brother, Jonas, such a great character and I loved Anders' protectiveness over his brother. I loved Wren's stepsister Bailey and how her and Wren's sisterly love developed throughout the book. It's also great to see how Wren's relationship with her stepmom grows the longer she stays in Indiana.</div><div><br /></div><div>The ending was satisfying and I'm glad it ended the way it did and that Anders gets some closure. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">I'd love to know your thoughts on Only Love Can Hurt Like This!</span></h4><div><br /></div></div>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8541552407677501610.post-87562845792738067972024-02-03T01:11:00.000-08:002024-02-03T01:11:32.110-08:0021 Self-Love Date Ideas For Your Mind, Body & Soul<!--Google tag (gtag.js)-->

<div>Valentine's Day is a day of love. It doesn't necessarily narrow down to those who are in loving relationships with their partners/spouses. It can be showing yourself some love, especially if you're having a tough time. Let me share a little secret with you - showing yourself some self-love doesn't just have to happen on Valentine's Day. I'm an avid believer that showing yourself some self-love should be an all-year-round commitment, not just one day a year.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOLc7IC_wmgJeM2jZwZ_jnHnzhO-3GEABCpoAGWsLhO9iVulcrBG9IxyQdqiJ-5nW5N24U306-y3pBhZJ9HS3bX2si4JeVRldbwGutfV5HOI3asPYfwuWKig6mnrcfSyDmR-z5dSZQ-xYJUDFFj4R-B6wzzx_q-zCUhfgCQsNB8VNk4tuyxxoMdScnyb2h/s2400/self%20love%20ideas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman sat on a bed in red pyjamas." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOLc7IC_wmgJeM2jZwZ_jnHnzhO-3GEABCpoAGWsLhO9iVulcrBG9IxyQdqiJ-5nW5N24U306-y3pBhZJ9HS3bX2si4JeVRldbwGutfV5HOI3asPYfwuWKig6mnrcfSyDmR-z5dSZQ-xYJUDFFj4R-B6wzzx_q-zCUhfgCQsNB8VNk4tuyxxoMdScnyb2h/s16000/self%20love%20ideas.jpg" title="21-Self-Love-Date-Ideas-For-Your-Mind-Body-&-Soul-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>The most important relationship you have in your life is the one you have with yourself. It's pretty obvious when you think of it. You spend all of your life with yourself, so it's important to show yourself some love and not be so hard on yourself. The more love you show for yourself, the better your relationships with others will be. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>There are so many different self-love activities you can do that don't have to cost the earth. These activities I'm about to list for the mind, body and soul don't have to be centred around Valentine's Day, but every day of the year.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Here are some self-love ideas for you to try for your mind, body and soul:<br /></span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Mind</span></h4><div style="text-align: left;">1) Write down 10 things that you are grateful for</div><div style="text-align: left;">2) Create a vision board for your goals</div><div style="text-align: left;">3) Read a new book or a favourite book</div><div style="text-align: left;">4) Journal</div><div style="text-align: left;">5) Learn or try something new eg a new hobby</div><div style="text-align: left;">6) Unplug yourself from tech/social media for the day</div><div style="text-align: left;">7) Listen to a new podcast</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7OFTV908r-8Ud7_T647MoilGfXN-QQcqbWrTaK9oFQGkyvTn-O5d6Jb8vgW-oY2Tagg38D0PByc6wiN74MhoAM_PSDBhgzgMAiv0AzRKJcirTJwor9fvjR-65rEtZ-DhV66fJTFq-aBa3gvYowJ8cjqYr6S2X4VxZKbRtZOnrG9LprGak1obQqC00wczE/s2012/self%20love%20ideas%20for%20mind%20body%20and%20soul.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman sat on a bed in red pyjamas." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2012" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7OFTV908r-8Ud7_T647MoilGfXN-QQcqbWrTaK9oFQGkyvTn-O5d6Jb8vgW-oY2Tagg38D0PByc6wiN74MhoAM_PSDBhgzgMAiv0AzRKJcirTJwor9fvjR-65rEtZ-DhV66fJTFq-aBa3gvYowJ8cjqYr6S2X4VxZKbRtZOnrG9LprGak1obQqC00wczE/s16000/self%20love%20ideas%20for%20mind%20body%20and%20soul.jpg" title="21-Self-Love-Date-Ideas-For-Your-Mind-Body-&-Soul-LucyMary" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Body</span></h4><div>1) Having a pamper session</div><div>2) Exercise indoors or outdoors (whatever you feel comfortable with)</div><div>3) Take a walk in nature</div><div>4) Cook your favourite meal</div><div>5) Explore where you live</div><div>6) Take a long relaxing bath</div><div>7) Practice yoga</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Soul</span></h4><div>1) Meditate</div><div>2) Write down 10 things that you love about yourself</div><div>3) Listen to your favourite playlist</div><div>4) Cuddle any pets you have</div><div>5) Create a list of your travel goals</div><div>6) Light your favourite candle</div><div>7) Repeat positive affirmations to yourself</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I'd love to know what activities or forms of self-love you would to this list yourself! WUKA want to make your periods as comfortable and easy as they possibly can. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUr2esNUyOutPSzhV_wbKNm83VRZ4uGNd7qBaqs8z0160CU7_7dXT8arYl6FipMSjMtOomqggamBpE4hv-jKIUqmb0230Fsfk0U3QHbX44otOHbkuARFSP8fvrIZWW2nlIkOADzWs9OhVVnSQeh3Vcot0pAXlNgYpUSo-mFXpso8XSHkm2AFhnSUm156jQ/s2400/wuka%20sustainable%20period%20pants.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A pair of black WUKA period pants" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUr2esNUyOutPSzhV_wbKNm83VRZ4uGNd7qBaqs8z0160CU7_7dXT8arYl6FipMSjMtOomqggamBpE4hv-jKIUqmb0230Fsfk0U3QHbX44otOHbkuARFSP8fvrIZWW2nlIkOADzWs9OhVVnSQeh3Vcot0pAXlNgYpUSo-mFXpso8XSHkm2AFhnSUm156jQ/s16000/wuka%20sustainable%20period%20pants.jpg" title="Wuka-Period-Pants-A-Review-Of-The-Sustainable-Period-Pants-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">How do WUKA period pants work?</span></h4><div>The keyword for how WUKA period pants work is layers. The layers in the pants make sure you get a long-lasting feeling of dryness while wearing them. Every pair includes a super absorbent gusset which consists of many layers. The middle layers absorb and lock in the blood whilst working with the outer layer helps to make sure you stay dry throughout the day! </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">How do I wash WUKA period pants?</span></h4><div>With period pants, you have to take care of them and wash them differently from what you would your normal laundry routine. WUKA have some recommendations which will help to make your product last longer -</div><div><br /></div><div><i>1) After use, handwash and rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. This is best to do immediately after removing.</i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i>2) When putting the pants in the machine, turn them inside out and make sure you wash them with darker garments on a 40-degree wash. Don't use fabric softener!</i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i>3) Once they've been washed, hang your pants out to dry or indoors on the airer. Do not tumble dry!</i></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>It's also advised to wash your products as cold as possible as it will prolong the life of the pants!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhND4LrUkWbYXeVhkMLcbSIpLC7GMq_8BpaLy4m6FPX7tNkTqA_m_hLtHx5AkHkzJdEoNaz2SluZOFIw4-n_QRyBWoP5HuJLy2MuhxCZLhPgdA4DZUq7pIbMnUmRfZC2S8hNmypCkOTxaQwapBP_oAr61GaQbiq_SWTCgeK6jQG75agsA2uA60YCWqBYIey/s2400/wuka%20menstruation%20pants.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman wearing a black pair of WUKA period pants and a black jumper." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhND4LrUkWbYXeVhkMLcbSIpLC7GMq_8BpaLy4m6FPX7tNkTqA_m_hLtHx5AkHkzJdEoNaz2SluZOFIw4-n_QRyBWoP5HuJLy2MuhxCZLhPgdA4DZUq7pIbMnUmRfZC2S8hNmypCkOTxaQwapBP_oAr61GaQbiq_SWTCgeK6jQG75agsA2uA60YCWqBYIey/s16000/wuka%20menstruation%20pants.jpg" title="Wuka-Period-Pants-A-Review-Of-The-Sustainable-Period-Pants-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Does WUKA have any new products being released?</span></h4><div>Yes, they do! The new <a href="https://wuka.co.uk/collections/stretch-seamless-period-pants/products/stretch-seamless-high-waist-heavy" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Stretch Cotton pants</span></i></b></a> are their newest release and they have many key features which make them stand out from any other period pants:</div><div><br /></div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>1 pair fits four sizes and there's no VPL.</li><li>You can wear these for up to 12 hours with no wet feeling or odour.</li><li>They're made with BCI-certified cotton, so they feel soft on your skin.</li><li>They will last for up to two years of wear and washing.</li><li>One pair of these replaces 200-single uses of tampons or pads!</li></ul><div><br /></div></div><div>Now, you're probably wondering what BCI-Cotton is. Well, BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) is grown using practices that promote sustainability and ethical textile production. BCI is kind to the skin and allows the skin to breathe. BCI is really great for those who have eczema-prone or sensitive skin. This material is also recommended by gynaecologists as the breathable nature of the material can prevent infections such as thrush or UTIs. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Would you recommend WUKA period pants?</span></h4><div>Unfortunately, I haven't been able to experience the pants on my period yet. However, there are so many aspects of WUKA and their pants that I love!</div><div><br /></div><div>The comfort of the pants is up there with some of the comfiest period pants I have ever worn. These period pants I am wearing in the photos fit so perfectly and I know that I will be more than happy to wear them once my next menstruation cycle starts. Also, because they're seam-free, they are so comfortable and I love that the waistband is quite thick, it sits so nicely on the hips.</div><div><br /></div><div>I have no doubt that when my next period comes around, wearing these will fill me with ease knowing I don't have to worry about any "Oops" moments. I want to be wearing period pants that can make me relax when I carry out my daily activities such as exercising, running errands and even going out-out!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitdRWcw4Jy57Vv3PrrZ8Yxsd5Ney7tOE5xaosD-k7NfL3_nXwNz8OGs1VvKZd0SGLsSR7IxNx6TdhIuS2s2GOKy0r6bSuWzY9AOAA26GN9sD_unqZP2o5m8CqRmvYLinWmF7vzBsGP5RUtsQu_gAl3VszSFGYyuawG64vgaZOnbTAPZJX1mp2rwatRjLc6/s2336/wuka.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman wearing a black pair of WUKA period pants and a black jumper." border="0" data-original-height="2336" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitdRWcw4Jy57Vv3PrrZ8Yxsd5Ney7tOE5xaosD-k7NfL3_nXwNz8OGs1VvKZd0SGLsSR7IxNx6TdhIuS2s2GOKy0r6bSuWzY9AOAA26GN9sD_unqZP2o5m8CqRmvYLinWmF7vzBsGP5RUtsQu_gAl3VszSFGYyuawG64vgaZOnbTAPZJX1mp2rwatRjLc6/s16000/wuka.jpg" title="Wuka-Period-Pants-A-Review-Of-The-Sustainable-Period-Pants-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Since I made the swap to period pants, I don't reach for any pads anymore. This new trend of showcasing your "Ins and Outs" for the upcoming year is a trend I've really loved on social media during January! I know I've said that it's a trend that's only deemed for your social media followers to see, but I thought I'd bring it to my blog too. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEwLayzRuPfVR3Zs3SZXSRtv6KaUNjItp_bzESbDLPHj26x44FdOVg9-qYGYhSu9OX2JfT2h6aJTGZdMHMVpGiErQz-hdYOHPQn8Rq4X6ONZbPKX3Lh5u4F8clFByZ_pPCopgVHihxXuGKVr3sVXd3plq_5gtj4kzSAdObr62M1PllVYppWrEGWPUzUpNe/s2400/ins%20and%20outs%20of%202024.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A notebook with glasses and pen." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEwLayzRuPfVR3Zs3SZXSRtv6KaUNjItp_bzESbDLPHj26x44FdOVg9-qYGYhSu9OX2JfT2h6aJTGZdMHMVpGiErQz-hdYOHPQn8Rq4X6ONZbPKX3Lh5u4F8clFByZ_pPCopgVHihxXuGKVr3sVXd3plq_5gtj4kzSAdObr62M1PllVYppWrEGWPUzUpNe/s16000/ins%20and%20outs%20of%202024.jpg" title="My-Ins-and-Outs-for-2024-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>I've made it clear in the past on my blog that I'm not a fan of making <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2022/12/why-i-dont-make-new-years-resolutions.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">New Year's resolutions</span></i></b></a>. I just feel setting resolutions sets you up for failure if you're unable to complete them. I would rather just see where the year takes me and maybe make some goals as the weeks go on. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>So when I saw this trend begin to take over Instagram and even TikTok, I knew it was a great way for me to <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/12/improvement-rather-than-change.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">make some improvements for the new year</span></i></b></a> ahead. I'd rather look at what I would to do more of in my life and get rid of some of the bad habits I've gotten myself into. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So, what are my 'Ins and Outs' for 2024?</span></h4><div>I'll give a mini explanation as to why I've chosen each one. I promise I won't go on for too long!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJpvs8EeZ5GicpahjJC8W_FG8pkQaWnK_635tfo8FqY198p2DXOhHdSs_eAeDUB-oFtVGyuoOlDGJIVS8nOFmb49QsfUiPwyHV0X986WxfgPlC9SH51t6EEGM4IHcyjuYd4NAA9yEG5NVJncrUKy4jA9Im1vRvxt5ThVuy1ZH0JyTHX0c9TOIMMOw9v8D4/s2400/ins%20and%20outs%202024.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A notebook with glasses and a pen." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJpvs8EeZ5GicpahjJC8W_FG8pkQaWnK_635tfo8FqY198p2DXOhHdSs_eAeDUB-oFtVGyuoOlDGJIVS8nOFmb49QsfUiPwyHV0X986WxfgPlC9SH51t6EEGM4IHcyjuYd4NAA9yEG5NVJncrUKy4jA9Im1vRvxt5ThVuy1ZH0JyTHX0c9TOIMMOw9v8D4/s16000/ins%20and%20outs%202024.jpg" title="My-Ins-and-Outs-for-2024-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Ins:</span></h4><div>1) <b><i>Start yoga</i></b> - I've tried yoga many times, and always given up. I'm determined to stick with it this year!</div><div><br /></div><div>2) <b><i>Update my exercise routine</i></b> - not only to include more yoga, but just generally change things up. I've been doing the same exercise routine for a while, so it needs re-jigging.</div><div><br /></div><div>3) <b><i>Get outdoors</i></b> - I want to get outside more for walks etc. That bit of fresh air can do the soul wonders.</div><div><br /></div><div>4) <b><i>Wake up at 7:00 am every weekday</i></b> - I think that extra hour can do wonders in terms of productivity.</div><div><br /></div><div>5) <b><i>Smile more</i></b> - smiling can make a world of difference to my mood, so let's do it more!</div><div><br /></div><div>6) <b><i>Go on more adventures</i></b> - I do want to travel more (budget-dependent) this year, maybe the Cotswolds? </div><div><br /></div><div>7) <b><i>Step out of my comfort zone more</i></b> - hopefully, I'll get some chances to do that!</div><div><br /></div><div>8) <b><i>Keep up with reading</i></b> - I started reading again in the middle of last year, I hope to read at least 15 books this year!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So that's all my 'Ins! Let's have a look at my 'Outs':</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Outs:</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">1) <b><i>End the aimless scrolling, especially at night</i></b> - I want to swap my phone for a book at night!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">2) <b><i>Search up symptoms on Dr Google</i></b> - I've talked about my <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/05/health-anxiety-my-story.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">health anxiety</span></i></b></a> on here before. I'm getting better at not Googling symptoms as much, but I still need to improve!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div>3) <b><i>Comparing myself to others</i></b> - comparison brings unhappiness. I need to stop the comparisons I make to others.</div><div><br /></div><div>4) <b><i>Thinking I'm not good enough</i></b> - this can relate to a lot of aspects of my life. I'm aiming to stop thinking that way!</div><div><br /></div><div>5) <b><i>Learn to say no/stop people pleasing</i></b> - I don't mind people pleasing, but I need to think about my well-being first and learn to say no when needing to.</div><div><br /></div><div>6) <b><i>Stressing over the smallest of things</i></b> - I'm a stress-head at times. I need to learn to relax and take things as they come and not sweat over it!</div><div><br /></div><div>7) <b><i>Procrastinating</i></b> - I've bought an hour-by-hour planner to help me stop procrastinating during the day. So far, it's working out quite well! As is following this method <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2022/09/pomodoro-technique-review.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">here</span></i></b></a>. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">So these are my Ins and Outs for 2024!</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">As I said, I love this trend and I know so many others have written their Ins and Outs on social media. It's been really interesting to see what people want to prioritise in terms of goals and what they want to rid of in their lives. My Ins and Outs will allow you to get to know me a little and hopefully, you'll follow me throughout the year to see if I manage to achieve my Ins and completely throw away my Outs! </span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_zi5xbGNhx-CMLrEfX0Nbd_DNx4pzoKQvaR50i8jsDuCtIys8-yuSZmdWehYWsTCjLqz1MaqgyaYqCgMu3c8UdNoniBYwclGTP0gDGNzQ7TYh_mcsqAUn78bMYhHYxHZlUNne6i6dbn8_T6Y23iISMjdRcjA6tsBisYtPGbhXePISb-xOsXRCDDWHuUN/s2400/ins%20and%20outs%20of%20the%20year%202024.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A notebook with glasses and a mug." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_zi5xbGNhx-CMLrEfX0Nbd_DNx4pzoKQvaR50i8jsDuCtIys8-yuSZmdWehYWsTCjLqz1MaqgyaYqCgMu3c8UdNoniBYwclGTP0gDGNzQ7TYh_mcsqAUn78bMYhHYxHZlUNne6i6dbn8_T6Y23iISMjdRcjA6tsBisYtPGbhXePISb-xOsXRCDDWHuUN/s16000/ins%20and%20outs%20of%20the%20year%202024.jpg" title="My-Ins-and-Outs-for-2024-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">Maybe I should write a post at the end of 2024 to see if I've achieved that. When thinking of a word for 2024, it took me a while to think of a word I wanted to associate with 2024. Last year, my word of the year was "<a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/02/contentment-my-word-for-year-2023.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Contentment</span></i></b></a>". The last half of 2023 was where I saw more contentment than the first half. <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/05/health-anxiety-my-story.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #e06666;"><b><i>Health anxiety</i></b></span></a> is the main reason why I couldn't find a lot of contentment last year. Thankfully, I can safely say I'm over the worst, and now I'm in a much better place in terms of how I cope with that. After much deliberation, I finally came up with a word that I would like to represent my 2024 - "Advance".<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnEBxQGkUE_o1xzBpGhS5PSxC_ytoUBjWRSfkFNZfzoTrJJqjT7It45t67k5Wnx20yOLmO3m7doKbaOEX90C-3WkvlrhXNSJ-4G5WeiyUJfCtHh3-QMuEkVviP1NBU1phbExz0YZHIJQfoyTQC4_D8X0hO8ZLN3c9yASFAkIsUqT-zIqYlTkurQLjDGC0K/s2400/advance%20word%20for%202024.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Yellow tulips, a white mug with green tea and a candle." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnEBxQGkUE_o1xzBpGhS5PSxC_ytoUBjWRSfkFNZfzoTrJJqjT7It45t67k5Wnx20yOLmO3m7doKbaOEX90C-3WkvlrhXNSJ-4G5WeiyUJfCtHh3-QMuEkVviP1NBU1phbExz0YZHIJQfoyTQC4_D8X0hO8ZLN3c9yASFAkIsUqT-zIqYlTkurQLjDGC0K/s16000/advance%20word%20for%202024.jpg" title="Advance-My-Chosen-Word-For-2024-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Now that I'm <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/05/things-ive-learned-in-my-twenties.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">30</span></i></b></a>, I want to take bigger strides in my life. I don't feel like I've been stuck in a rut, but I feel like I'm walking through quicksand. I feel like I need to move somewhere with my life, which is why I'm going to hopefully make a bold statement and advance further.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>In the past, I used to think that I was WAY behind my friends and family in terms of where I should be in my life, which you can read about <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2019/09/am-i-falling-behind-everyone-else.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">here</span></i></b></a>. But as people will tell you, you follow your own path in life, there's no right or wrong way in how you travel down your path in life. As long as you don't commit any crimes, then it's alright. I don't know what has happened to me since I turned 30, but I have a serious f**k it attitude towards a lot of things. It's an attitude I like that I have adopted, but I can't be that way forever. I have to draw the line somewhere. One positive I can take out of 2023 is that I finally got out of my reading funk and picked up a book for the first time in months. It's been so nice to get back into reading, and I hope that continues into 2024. Altogether, I read eight books in 2023. I know that seems like a measly amount, but bear these things in mind - I picked up my first book in June and don't read every day so it takes me a while to get through a book. The eight books which I read are:<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>1) The Road Trip by Beth O'Leary</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>2) Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>3) The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>4) Wedding Days at Halesmere House by Suzanne Snow</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>5) How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>6) The No Show by Beth O'Leary</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>7) The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh</i></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>8) The Long Game by Elena Armas</i></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTfCYLes_xOT5y4_8_NqJuizWi92N6KXX82e66UaXbgpnry36n64p8fqpVf9d-S0ssuWFjn1iIE02b7HLwqrCwWifF9K3UlHe0UD_sUOv_5snn761rhGgIIVA75l608Oi-dIXx0JpKnyPHttkKtvmKHqvjcDo0Jh5AfXk5Y4Ie25YEJ3IfgH0GO5yIAx8Q/s2400/top%20three%20books%20of%202023.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Three books stacked on top of each other." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTfCYLes_xOT5y4_8_NqJuizWi92N6KXX82e66UaXbgpnry36n64p8fqpVf9d-S0ssuWFjn1iIE02b7HLwqrCwWifF9K3UlHe0UD_sUOv_5snn761rhGgIIVA75l608Oi-dIXx0JpKnyPHttkKtvmKHqvjcDo0Jh5AfXk5Y4Ie25YEJ3IfgH0GO5yIAx8Q/s16000/top%20three%20books%20of%202023.jpg" title="My-Three-Favourite-Books-of-2023-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Out of the eight <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/search/label/Books" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">books</span></i></b></a> I read in 2023, three books stood out and ones which I would happily read again in the future. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Now, this is in no particular order, but here are my top three books in 2023:</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) The Long Game by Elena Armas</span></h4><div>Maybe because this book has a football theme to it is the reason I loved it so much. But I absolutely loved the characters and the plotline. What I loved about this book is that the two main characters were dislikable in the beginning but I grew to love them as the book went on. I love books that make you change your opinion of a character as the story goes on. Also, I loved that I kept thinking about the story after finishing reading it.</div><div><br /></div><div>I would happily pick up this <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/11/the-long-game-by-elena-armas-book-review.html"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">book</span></i></b></a> again if I ever slip into a reading slump!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggs3-Dt6etbg3oRsRQTaXMVcuRbTslWTdMrSdiKu2xcIGMd6VkeQz79JH45Ej0FR8Bq1raJbrMBT7VGB8Qyl_alQZSRShz2Tf5MDpHkBPuGD62PHnVqKj_VgQ4L25krq_mMJTzsiRkpInXxzXRf-iUUQ4gjWIP1zOli8rgtQCg3WIgC3nUvlbx6nv3qRvC/s2400/three%20books%20of%202023.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Three books stacked on top of each other." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggs3-Dt6etbg3oRsRQTaXMVcuRbTslWTdMrSdiKu2xcIGMd6VkeQz79JH45Ej0FR8Bq1raJbrMBT7VGB8Qyl_alQZSRShz2Tf5MDpHkBPuGD62PHnVqKj_VgQ4L25krq_mMJTzsiRkpInXxzXRf-iUUQ4gjWIP1zOli8rgtQCg3WIgC3nUvlbx6nv3qRvC/s16000/three%20books%20of%202023.jpg" title="My-Three-Favourite-Books-of-2023-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) The No Show by Beth O'Leary</span></h4><div>Oh, <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/09/the-no-show-by-beth-oleary-review.html"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">this book</span></i></b></a> is a heartbreaker yet a heart warmer too. This book had me in tears for some parts! This book is beautifully written by Beth O'Leary, the way the chapters are from the POVs of three women and to see the story evolve was just a joy to read. This and The Flat Share are my favourite books from Beth O'Leary. The way the book ended was not the ending I had in my mind, which I absolutely loved as it took me by surprise and it ended nicely. </div><div><br /></div><div>This book is such a crowd-pleaser. I would definitely recommend this book if you want to get out of your own reading slump!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh</span></h4><div>I remember reading Rosie Walsh's first book and fell in love with that one. <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/10/the-love-of-my-life-by-rosie-walsh-review.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">This domestic thriller</span></i></b></a> really had me on the edge of my seat. This book will definitely have you on the edge of your seat!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I can't wait to continue reading through 2024. I'm not going to set myself a target of how many books I'd like to read, purely because I am not entirely sure I can hazard a guess. Desperation Shopping </span></h4><div>If you have a wedding to go to, or a special birthday looming then you need to make sure you plan. Don’t go to a shop you can’t count on and don’t assume you have something in your wardrobe that will do. The last thing you want is to have a last-minute shopping spree that overwhelms and stresses you out. If this happens then you will probably end up coming home with something that you are never going to wear again, which is the last thing you need. If you want to do something about this then as soon as you get an invite, schedule time in your calendar so you can figure out what it is you want to wear. </div><div><br /></div><div>When you assess your clothes, remember that adding thrifted, borrowed or rented accessories can be a great problem-solver. If you are certain that you don’t have anything right then look on used websites. This is a great way to get what you are looking for, without pressure.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Markdown Prices
</span></h4><div>Sales and even special offers make it easy to lose your mind. Common sense and budgeting will help you out a lot here. Make sure that before you buy something impulsively, you reflect and pause. Is it the thrill of a bargain that you are actively responding to? If it was full price, would you still want the item? </div><div><br /></div><div>Imagine what you would like to wear the item with and then take note of the occasions it is suited for. Ask yourself what items in your closet can also serve the same purpose. If you can do this then you will soon find that it becomes easier to come to the right decision.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj64knyr_I5ZE46W-G7g5z1B5Ygr4cXEKHp02-ga3zrtKZS02I4LQ5Z5NG64Q4ydFd4zcmyWOHjd-9P3L9zujrOYuJorqb72JeXUOpBEtg-RUy6EI2dYYzduwl7-gtNtdwNtIeimAHebkOLk8bH61wlv_O5MxZXQpC8_UDL4WZdV4x4xKrMhWns4S21rqf/s4032/critical%20fashion%20mistakes.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Are you making these critical fashion mistakes?" border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj64knyr_I5ZE46W-G7g5z1B5Ygr4cXEKHp02-ga3zrtKZS02I4LQ5Z5NG64Q4ydFd4zcmyWOHjd-9P3L9zujrOYuJorqb72JeXUOpBEtg-RUy6EI2dYYzduwl7-gtNtdwNtIeimAHebkOLk8bH61wlv_O5MxZXQpC8_UDL4WZdV4x4xKrMhWns4S21rqf/s16000/critical%20fashion%20mistakes.jpg" title="Are-You-Making-These-Critical-Fashion-Mistakes-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Phobia of Cobblers</span> </h4><div>Preventative maintenance can go a long way here. Spare yourself and your wallet stress by taking your shoes to the cobblers from time to time. Buy some water-repellent spray and give your shoes a good spray before you wear them out. You should do this every week. You should also see this as being like a moisturizer for your shoes. </div><div><br /></div><div>If you notice that you have spots on your suede shoes then you can remove these with a special eraser. If you have leather-soled boots then give them to your cobbler and they will add a thin layer of rubber to protect it. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you want out of your fashionable clothing and that it looks better for longer. If you don’t have any boots then buying online is the way to go. You can <span>buy</span><span style="color: #e06666; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"> <a href="https://pretty-small-shoes.com/collections/all-small-size-boots"><span style="color: #e06666;">size 4 boots</span></a></span> from numerous retailers if you have smaller feet, and when you do, you can feel confident knowing that you will always have something that makes you feel good.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1H31bm50dupjc0yjdE39RvOJxa4FTEvr_0Ut3RsMa50bCpYUfdmLDA1Y2e3cB8x0EnaoDwEWS3SPyjHcnufoIvoqWBGTVFufv-vwWQl7D3Wzqse1gVfFpIA_RjSunSa8rnl9pwwmJ06h7U95xjI9D6XubOp3xl1N60cIfAua1wqKPco_L71cY5aOOYj6j/s4032/guilty%20fashion%20mistakes.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Are you making these critical fashion mistakes?" border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2959" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1H31bm50dupjc0yjdE39RvOJxa4FTEvr_0Ut3RsMa50bCpYUfdmLDA1Y2e3cB8x0EnaoDwEWS3SPyjHcnufoIvoqWBGTVFufv-vwWQl7D3Wzqse1gVfFpIA_RjSunSa8rnl9pwwmJ06h7U95xjI9D6XubOp3xl1N60cIfAua1wqKPco_L71cY5aOOYj6j/s16000/guilty%20fashion%20mistakes.jpg" title="Are-You-Making-These-Critical-Fashion-Mistakes-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Closet Piling </span></h4><div>Piling a ton of tops onto one hanger and over-stuffing your drawers can be a huge mistake. You may also find this to be very <a href="https://thatsmystyle.com.au/7-steps-to-reducing-wardrobe-overwhelm-featured-on-smart-healthy-women/" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">overwhelming</span></i></b></a>. The solution here would be for you to carve out an off-season storage area. You don’t have to be perfect here, but you do need to make sure that you have some standards that you hold yourself to. If you can, you also need to make sure that you are using the right hanger for the task. Sturdier hangers are good as they help you to maintain the shape of your coats and your blazers. If you have a heavy-knit sweater then this will stretch if you hang it. Protect your trousers by hanging them from the bottom, as this is the best way for you to stop those tell-tale creases.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Purse Consideration </span></h4><div>Another thing you need to do is swap and use the purses you have. Carrying your everyday bag to a wedding or slinging a weekend tote is not what you should be doing. You need to give some thought to the bags and purses that you have and you also need to swap what you have, depending on the occasion. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you are going for, while boosting your <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2024/01/hm-jumper-looks.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">fashion</span></i></b></a> game in more ways than one.
</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Let me know your thoughts! It's always a good feeling when you find a versatile item that you wear with different looks. Also, an item which you've fallen in love with and can't stop wearing. I've been seeing this particular jumper all over my Instagram feed since the start of Autumn - the H&M Jumper. This jumper comes in a range of colours, but I opted for dark grey. However, I need to let you in on a little secret - rather than pay full price from H&M, I bought this one on Vinted for a fraction of the price!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvOoNbdez3sRDKbZO4xi9raHMt360YSm1SvzNHFBnAacp7cFigMbFmg7klu-cn7fjhB6XBUQbFoL5aHjfThr30qZ1zqrduagrxc2aqW-PgiwCzioZUAa7LwEtkeDb08TG0dOHOGEMrgLNPvGci6mGW4OFTuCC5yOnDL1Map5-25xQnBIHTiLmoCCAcAT6d/s2464/h&m%20jumper.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman wearing a dark grey H&M jumper." border="0" data-original-height="2433" data-original-width="2464" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvOoNbdez3sRDKbZO4xi9raHMt360YSm1SvzNHFBnAacp7cFigMbFmg7klu-cn7fjhB6XBUQbFoL5aHjfThr30qZ1zqrduagrxc2aqW-PgiwCzioZUAa7LwEtkeDb08TG0dOHOGEMrgLNPvGci6mGW4OFTuCC5yOnDL1Map5-25xQnBIHTiLmoCCAcAT6d/s16000/h&m%20jumper.jpg" title="My-Three-Favourite-Looks-With-THE-H&M-Jumper-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>As I said, I do love a versatile item in my wardrobe, and this H&M jumper is definitely one. <div><b><i>*This post contains affiliate links</i>. </b></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Unless you’ve been living under a rock, and that rock happens to be around the Bermuda Triangle, you’ve seen the recent craze of ‘Oodies’. You know, the incredibly giant hoodie/blanket clothes that, admittedly, look incredibly warm (and oddly stylish), usually made out of either cotton or <a href="https://www.fabricsgalore.co.uk/collections/fleece-fabric"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">fleece fabric</span></i></b></a>. They look great, but they’re also a bit pricey. While this may not be an issue to some, others simply can’t justify paying £80+ for an oversized wearable blanket. But they shouldn’t miss out, right? Everyone deserves an oversized wearable blanket to keep toasty during the Christmas period! So here are some great alternatives that have been released in competition with the <a href="https://theoodie.co.uk/"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Oodie</span></i></b></a> collection by other retailers, online and physical, that may be a little nicer to your wallet, and still feel amazing to wear.<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpmp06PIi2mmt3L9FhIvOUm3c60lhHXDKD4zs6Xx-NwEA184FW0PLBy_lHrxKBBEKp6WPjizr58gBt5lCoUlfQbU9-l0-gkXWx0zgNZWYXadRkApHAzInem64vwegjHuWWr_ZwMzfpuIpWygCjJD-fe4lA4g7Hk0cMxALYP8UR978TBAGolkuOO8ia3hy/s2400/oodie%20alternatives.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman wearing a pink 'Oodie'" border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpmp06PIi2mmt3L9FhIvOUm3c60lhHXDKD4zs6Xx-NwEA184FW0PLBy_lHrxKBBEKp6WPjizr58gBt5lCoUlfQbU9-l0-gkXWx0zgNZWYXadRkApHAzInem64vwegjHuWWr_ZwMzfpuIpWygCjJD-fe4lA4g7Hk0cMxALYP8UR978TBAGolkuOO8ia3hy/s16000/oodie%20alternatives.jpg" title="Best -Oodie'-Alternatives-If-You-Don't-Fancy-The-Price-Tag-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
The Grinch Snuddie - Primark </span></h4><div>Earlier this year Primark released The Grinch Christmas range, and to say they literally flew off the shelves would be an understatement. This elusive Snuddie, as they’ve dubbed it, went out of stock at the vast majority of Primark's around the UK in the leadup toward <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2022/12/sequins-christmas-party-outfit-ideas.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Christmas</span></i></b></a>, as every man, woman and child clambered to purchase one. They ARE rather Grinch looking admittedly, even down to the rough sort of flyaway fur on the Grinch's hands. When this was brought out, the price was £28, so a much cheaper alternative for sure, which may have also played a part in its popularity.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
The Snuggle Range - M&S </span></h4><div>Marks and Spencer released their own range of hooded blankets called the M&S snuggle, for adults and kids, and then also the character collection, mostly for children, which included a hood made to look like the character in question, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Stitch (From the Lilo & Stitch series), spiderman, and so on. These are even nice on the purse, ranging from as small as £8 to £26 depending on the style.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3ONNaTvN7pnVLoiepbtlAfK1EFWWQ8f7p8qGZnI4DG0EjURArlIUwcPw2zCWVAN78lA0HHZmcSoIYTzWintRXMn-39a_6AyH4EJ_TGH8IpQ7YMVJKEBWofr5u2VFuc9ZOHh6Hg6fk-AswSM8YGSGLCf2VAglD7S17XrzfeSaMGr_TABKUbhjw8tIm4e6G/s2400/oodie.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman wearing a pink 'Oodie'" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3ONNaTvN7pnVLoiepbtlAfK1EFWWQ8f7p8qGZnI4DG0EjURArlIUwcPw2zCWVAN78lA0HHZmcSoIYTzWintRXMn-39a_6AyH4EJ_TGH8IpQ7YMVJKEBWofr5u2VFuc9ZOHh6Hg6fk-AswSM8YGSGLCf2VAglD7S17XrzfeSaMGr_TABKUbhjw8tIm4e6G/s16000/oodie.jpg" title="Best-Oodie'-Alternatives-If-You-Don't-Fancy-The-Price-Tag-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Character Oversized Hoodie Blankets - eBay (And other online retailers) </span></h4><div>While it’s unsure who or where these were manufactured by, these are typically sold on eBay, and are another great alternative, especially for those who love certain animated characters. These take on the full approach of the character they’re meant to be, instead of merely having a picture of the character, the hoodie makes up the character itself, complete with ears! There’s a cute selection of Pokemon for you trainers out there, along with baby Yoda from Star Wars and another Stitch and Angel entry. These tend to be around the £25 - £30 mark too.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Hoodie Blankets - OHS </span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://www.onlinehomeshop.com/loungewear-and-accessories/hoodie-blanket"><i><span style="color: #e06666;">The Online Home Shop</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: normal;"> has an incredibly affordable range of ‘hoodie blankets’, and tends to be somewhat more subtle than some of the more adventurous designs of other brands. Maybe you want subtle. Maybe you’re not a fan of Pokemon and Star Wars and just want something super warm and stylish to wear around the house in the colder seasons, in which case, this site is perfect. All the hoodie blankets are a ‘One size fits all’, and also have a zip alternative, or extra long ones that look more like a bathrobe. But a really warm bathrobe, that you’d want to tuck in your legs and sleep in. These are much more affordable too, ranging from £6 onwards up to around £25.</span></h4><div><span style="font-weight: normal;"><br /></span></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Do you own an Oodie or an Oodie alternative? For many of us, a new year means we want to see what we can do to start the New Year right. A New Year, for me, brings fresh ideas, motivation, determination and a fresh start. I feel, as a society, we all strive for change, rather than improvement. Some of you may read this and say, "Change and improvement mean the same thing" - I'm here to tell you, there is a difference. Improving yourself means you want to increase what is good and decrease what is bad. Changing something about yourself is giving a part of your personality or life a complete overhaul. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgN2atmjMkuIya3Dl2-idgzbwr5U8B3nMis6c3TWIUpjrPsbcm7IzPtufas5iOTBse9bNb7JvoCz5wfBchHZSu2FXXaIup2p1ooZWESkVhn0KicOuK-MH-9H8mlQygy9rrH2IRpDi4uN-O8Ie36Gd3cZrMBR7Qll3Ry1z4RhQSO8uMEAQyQYEGsoXj1tIe/s4032/improving%20rather%20than%20changing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman holding a glass next to a Prosecco bottle." border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgN2atmjMkuIya3Dl2-idgzbwr5U8B3nMis6c3TWIUpjrPsbcm7IzPtufas5iOTBse9bNb7JvoCz5wfBchHZSu2FXXaIup2p1ooZWESkVhn0KicOuK-MH-9H8mlQygy9rrH2IRpDi4uN-O8Ie36Gd3cZrMBR7Qll3Ry1z4RhQSO8uMEAQyQYEGsoXj1tIe/s16000/improving%20rather%20than%20changing.jpg" title="Why-It's-Better-To-Improve-Rather-Than-Change-In-The-New-Year-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>I find changing things about yourself is quite a big challenge, especially for the New Year. I think there seems to be a kind of pressure for some that they have to change something about themselves just because it's a new year. It doesn't have to be that way. This is why I'm all for making improvements rather than changes.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>If you're happy with your life but feel like you need to make a slight adjustment to a certain aspect of your life, then look and see what you can do to improve on it rather than completely change it. For example, if you like cooking but are bored of cooking the same meals, buy a new cookbook and try something new. If you like exercising but are bored of doing the same workouts, then research a new kind of exercise regime or workout style. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Some will want to make a complete change in their life. Some may make changes for health reasons, maybe because they really want to challenge themselves or get out of their comfort zone. This is something I am also all for, especially stepping out of your comfort zone. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVU58IKC3v5HLRYKmsFhoj2dTPtdRJJvNv74axuvTShIZvBPM_B7l1fKzG1qfH6Ye4j4a0LFObEAudyi4ZWi2xnHwb7feOC3f2nWEBs2-q0sTmojuloFk3gEkGc-GWwgpAIFqbj-XMk3NHf1-kbtQTi-BCpTVYB5k6bGrsyZZadtZM1sIIBVfBCJHz5iSi/s4032/improving%20rather%20than%20changing%20in%20new%20year.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman holding a glass next to a Prosecco bottle." border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVU58IKC3v5HLRYKmsFhoj2dTPtdRJJvNv74axuvTShIZvBPM_B7l1fKzG1qfH6Ye4j4a0LFObEAudyi4ZWi2xnHwb7feOC3f2nWEBs2-q0sTmojuloFk3gEkGc-GWwgpAIFqbj-XMk3NHf1-kbtQTi-BCpTVYB5k6bGrsyZZadtZM1sIIBVfBCJHz5iSi/s16000/improving%20rather%20than%20changing%20in%20new%20year.jpg" title="Why-It's-Better-To-Improve-Rather-Than-Change-In-The-New-Year-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>What I'm trying to say is that you don't need to wait until the start of a new year to want to change or improve things in your life. We are a society that decides to make a change, but then says things like "I want to start/do this, but it's the middle of the month. I'll start next month". I'll admit, I'm one of those people too. I never like to start something new in the middle of the month or week. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>If I feel I need to make an improvement, I would rather make that improvement as soon as possible rather than wait until a new year because it feels compulsory to wait until then. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for changing things too, but I just don't want to be someone who waits until the start of a new year. If you want to make a change or an improvement, do it now rather than wait weeks or months. <span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">When setting goals for the new year, it's important to focus on improvement rather than drastic change.</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Some of you may have already made your <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2022/12/why-i-dont-make-new-years-resolutions.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">New Year's resolutions</span></i></b></a>, if you have, I hope you achieve them and smash your goals!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Christmas Eve is special for most of us, but for some, not so much. It's important to remember those who are more unfortunate than us and keep them in our thoughts. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">For those who are stuck on what to do on Christmas Eve, here are some festive activities for adults to do:</span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) Drive around looking at Christmas lights</span></h4><div>This is my favourite tradition for Christmas Eve (and even during the run-up to Christmas). I love looking at other people's Christmas lights, or I like being nosey - make of it what you will. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS5-0m1AKiG8Tt1lgjulsUXmJWR6oAHtntDmbVJNuHcFjpuu3zAvH-3MVZ6xPZgNCYlM-YVvQWeY1JvhCCZHAaNXwhpTZLU6y3y8g8MibC4sxf0_8Z_sVEqhFN33YcLquxzZ2RhFuzUBeNaRuNXPovjHtBo8n96N4IaEPtUE-Z9UrY3WohugWgfUMgxsDH/s2400/christmas%20eve%20activities%20for%20adults.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Christmas Eve activities" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS5-0m1AKiG8Tt1lgjulsUXmJWR6oAHtntDmbVJNuHcFjpuu3zAvH-3MVZ6xPZgNCYlM-YVvQWeY1JvhCCZHAaNXwhpTZLU6y3y8g8MibC4sxf0_8Z_sVEqhFN33YcLquxzZ2RhFuzUBeNaRuNXPovjHtBo8n96N4IaEPtUE-Z9UrY3WohugWgfUMgxsDH/s16000/christmas%20eve%20activities%20for%20adults.jpg" title="Seven-Festive-Activities-For-Adults-To-Do-On-Christmas-Eve-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) Go for a Christmas Eve walk</span></h4><div>I remember doing this every Christmas Eve when I was a kid. Me and my Mam used to go for a Christmas Eve walk, usually in the evening. We used to end up at my Nan's house and see her and my Grandad. I don't know how I can describe it, but a Christmas Eve walk (as long as it's not raining) has such a special feeling about it. Making the most of the crisp air, admiring Christmas lights and the deep conversations made the Christmas Eve walks the best.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) Watch Christmas films</span></h4><div>A pretty obvious activity to do on this day, but watching Christmas films on the 24th of December has that certain special element about it.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Do some last-minute baking</span></h4><div>Hopefully, by this point, you're done with the food preparations for Christmas Day. But in case you want to bake a little something extra, crack out the mixing bowl and get baking!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYAl51IaZf_k8IXPV_I4CEgm9aTG6QJQcgELtWavPz1nj68ZGhq_xbYwgf3yOLhnTw08loJlYrkokzMw5q0lqF6sd6RNJ_B1aQPhFNVWgbS79X3IQH62kLjLaVZG-3m2MOrtMsOWbLt_dCPY9fjwbGPApo9joeESozniR3yZvKB7wnI-I5ccQR7hNQB-Ym/s2400/christmas%20eve%20activities%20for%20the%20adults.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Christmas Eve activities" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYAl51IaZf_k8IXPV_I4CEgm9aTG6QJQcgELtWavPz1nj68ZGhq_xbYwgf3yOLhnTw08loJlYrkokzMw5q0lqF6sd6RNJ_B1aQPhFNVWgbS79X3IQH62kLjLaVZG-3m2MOrtMsOWbLt_dCPY9fjwbGPApo9joeESozniR3yZvKB7wnI-I5ccQR7hNQB-Ym/s16000/christmas%20eve%20activities%20for%20the%20adults.jpg" title="Seven-Festive-Activities-For-Adults-To-Do-On-Christmas-Eve-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">5) Play a drinking game</span></h4><div>Cocktail or mocktail, there are plenty of Christmas-themed games to play as an adult. Whether it's Christmas-themed bingo or playing drinking games based on Christmas movies, it's something a little different to do! There are plenty of Christmas-themed drinking game ideas online, particularly on Pinterest.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">6) Visit family and/or friends</span></h4><div>It seems quite the traditional thing to do, but visiting family and/or friends on Christmas Eve seems a little more special at this time of year. Whether swapping presents or going out for food or a drink, that quality time with loved ones at Christmas is a little more special. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">7) Play board games</span></h4><div>I do love playing a board game at Christmas. Whether it's 5 Second Rule, card games or Trivial Pursuit (do people still play that these days?), board games are a great method for family bonding time at Christmas!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpIZmg9sa0M8SLHHhOWbZO6pwcc7c-Gpjp_Rv5wSC0wek2VdcI2LWeWfhPd9kkZOpWUvcpRrGdU5RopagfYBt-x4bXcq0FpesgHYNAIPNjhAqG2xYGjO237z47KAi47AYZMtEFCUYAOE12iqoJh04KHC7U81UFHoG5vE2zpEtH5jvwTdiW2xxGrHgnMVHS/s2246/seven%20christmas%20eve%20activities.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Christmas Eve activities" border="0" data-original-height="2246" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpIZmg9sa0M8SLHHhOWbZO6pwcc7c-Gpjp_Rv5wSC0wek2VdcI2LWeWfhPd9kkZOpWUvcpRrGdU5RopagfYBt-x4bXcq0FpesgHYNAIPNjhAqG2xYGjO237z47KAi47AYZMtEFCUYAOE12iqoJh04KHC7U81UFHoG5vE2zpEtH5jvwTdiW2xxGrHgnMVHS/s16000/seven%20christmas%20eve%20activities.jpg" title="Seven-Festive-Activities-For-Adults-To-Do-On-Christmas-Eve-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I'd love to know your plans for Christmas this year. Welcome to today's world— where mental health awareness has become more prevalent. Gone are the days when we ignore what we feel, and it's something we should be proud of!

The Mind-Body Connection </span></h4><div>Not many may have realised it, but the mind-body connection is a powerful and intricate relationship between our physical and mental well-being. </div><div><br /></div><div>How? </div><div><br /></div><div>When you're stressed, anxious, or depressed, you can feel symptoms in your body such as muscle tension, headaches, and fatigue. And, when you experience chronic physical conditions, you'll likely experience mental health challenges.</div><div><br /></div><div>So where does physiotherapy come into place?
</div><div><br /></div>
We all know that <b><i><a href="https://chichesterphysio.co.uk/"><span style="color: #e06666;">physiotherapy</span></a></i></b> focuses on restoring and maintaining your physical function, bridging the gap between your mind and body. When you join such sessions, you can engage both your body and mind, leading to better mental health.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc2Ax7iMIbWDfGFXjpNWk1j0mMVPGYRPvyegiLRg5U9QE-UrUXe9HmGa9KN8uP7ikMXrSs_tVRA6NhzQ-cVRp35qlAN31yGeQLK2IYs8bIf-XDISWBJ7cnVidFkCF7WLASIETS5reiOIzfFnK3NUhI3jYzaN8ml8vxFyZjrpI5Ksyme3JV8wivt7xtUpyG/s4032/mindful%20movement.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Mindful Movement" border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc2Ax7iMIbWDfGFXjpNWk1j0mMVPGYRPvyegiLRg5U9QE-UrUXe9HmGa9KN8uP7ikMXrSs_tVRA6NhzQ-cVRp35qlAN31yGeQLK2IYs8bIf-XDISWBJ7cnVidFkCF7WLASIETS5reiOIzfFnK3NUhI3jYzaN8ml8vxFyZjrpI5Ksyme3JV8wivt7xtUpyG/s16000/mindful%20movement.jpg" title="Mindful-Movement-How-To-Use-Physiotherapy-for-Your-Mind-Body-Connection-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
The Mindful Movement: What is it? </span></h4><div>We've talked about the mind-body connection, but what's the mindful movement? </div><div><br /></div><div>In simple words, it involves intentional, focused, and aware physical activity. The Mindful Movement encourages you to be fully present in the moment, allowing you to <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2021/05/40-self-care-ideas-for-mind-body-soul.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">pay attention to your body</span></i></b></a> from the sensations to the movements and breath. </div><div><br /></div><div>When you become mindful, you become self-aware and have mental clarity.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
How to incorporate mindful movement into your daily life </span></h4><div>Let's face it— starting something new in your life can be scary. This is why many people find it hard to incorporate mindful movement into their daily lives. </div><div><br /></div><div>However, did you know it isn't complicated? You might've even already practised some mindful activities in your everyday life! So, here are some steps to get you started on your mindful journey.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>
<ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Find an activity that resonates with you. This can be anything, from yoga to Pilates to tai chi and stretching exercises. These mindful exercises <span>help you relax your mind</span> and prepare for what's ahead! </li></ul><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Start slow. You don't have to rush into mindful movement in just a couple of days. As with any other activity, you need to start slow. This way, you can adjust and become comfortable with your new lifestyle; or else, you might want to give up after just a few days! </li></ul><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Focus on your breaths. Mindful movement is about focusing on yourself, so why don't you start with your breaths? Pay attention as you breathe through every move. You can inhale deeply and exhale fully, as it allows you to sync your movements with your breath. </li></ul><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Be present in the moment. Another aspect of the mindful movement is enabling you to live in the present. You should clear your mind of all distractions, whether it be your work, studies, or simply what you're going to have for lunch. When you can fully be in the present, you can feel everything in your body, from the sensations to the movements. </li></ul></div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Seek professional guidance. As with any other approach, you should first consult with your physiotherapist or a qualified instructor. They can guide you in your mindful movement practices, helping you achieve your goals in no time! </li></ul></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNB7Gi6NLr0mh3XKNZHpjbB12-jdCpfHz1wOSuM8pHsrmnJfwYN1jd4VKdqWgFYIK4QTHNvPYiue3Ma-xi433pwnFyUAiS4cpGEZt97mhqbnxz9R-Dk6Y_254rneMXvnn7YcWvb470Ultka4gXSqn77qAPzFddUcZ0NfvRnkRZOEVwF5aRgaOBF-emRByF/s4032/mindful%20movement%20blog%20post.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Mindful Movement" border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNB7Gi6NLr0mh3XKNZHpjbB12-jdCpfHz1wOSuM8pHsrmnJfwYN1jd4VKdqWgFYIK4QTHNvPYiue3Ma-xi433pwnFyUAiS4cpGEZt97mhqbnxz9R-Dk6Y_254rneMXvnn7YcWvb470Ultka4gXSqn77qAPzFddUcZ0NfvRnkRZOEVwF5aRgaOBF-emRByF/s16000/mindful%20movement%20blog%20post.jpg" title="Mindful-Movement-How-To-Use-Physiotherapy-for-Your-Mind-Body-Connection-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Connecting your body and mind through physiotherapy offers you a unique approach in improving your mental health. The device should be charged for 2-3 hours before its first use. If you're pregnant or have a pacemaker, you need to consult with a doctor before using this device. I should also make you aware that the beeping from this device is a little loud when near the ears, so wear earplugs if the noise is too much. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Is the PMD Wave Pro worth it?</span></h4><div>I've used this device for a couple of weeks now and I have definitely noticed a big improvement in my skin in a short space of time. The device is such a multi-tasker, it helps the skin so much in just three modes. My favourite mode is the Infuse Mode as it helps to really stimulate my skincare into my skin. Because of that, my skin has had more of a glow lately and feels so much more rejuvenated. </div><div><br /></div><div>The other mode I am really impressed with is Extract Mode. The gunk it has removed from my skin has been incredible. I honestly thought my skin was pretty ok in terms of whiteheads etc. The Extract Mode is such a game-changer when it comes to extracting whiteheads from the skin. With this mode, it's a lot gentler than other extracting devices, which is something I love. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have loved this extra addition to my skincare routine. I tend to use the PMD Wave Pro at night because I have more time to go through each mode than I would in the morning. But obviously, each to their own! </div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">I would definitely recommend buying this device if your skin needs a little pick-me-up! </span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_LPmsH1I_pQBxZ85RHAwf5p9KhpzafpThR9WfLX0HgRjzP29xCfR1XkJs8hFpy1aM4lsafp5DYAuzI-a_8GwYlHqlBJ5_2hqd-UWnLyVdeqLRidAfN0WQ5bGyKPWjEcJNTfYaMlWXyUiQGRXjpluuFct8nEDWq5iQbRsodpASeah0jA_TeZ5vJuMMT-CL/s2400/pmd%20wave%20pro%20skincare%20device.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="PMD Wave Pro device" border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_LPmsH1I_pQBxZ85RHAwf5p9KhpzafpThR9WfLX0HgRjzP29xCfR1XkJs8hFpy1aM4lsafp5DYAuzI-a_8GwYlHqlBJ5_2hqd-UWnLyVdeqLRidAfN0WQ5bGyKPWjEcJNTfYaMlWXyUiQGRXjpluuFct8nEDWq5iQbRsodpASeah0jA_TeZ5vJuMMT-CL/s16000/pmd%20wave%20pro%20skincare%20device.jpg" title="PMD-Wave-Pro-A-Review-of-PMDs-Newest-Skincare-Device-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="font-family: inherit;">Fancy a discount code? <span style="font-family: inherit;"><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>Travelling is something that a lot of people enjoy. There are so many fun aspects of being in different places, but not everyone sees them. If you have not been abroad, or you have not been<a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2020/11/why-im-hoping-to-get-travel-bug-back-in.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;"> travelling much in your life</span></i></b></a>, you might wonder what all of the fuss is about. We encourage you to get out there and adventure yourself to find out, but we’re also going to be talking about it in this article. If you’re interested in this topic, then this is the article for you.</span><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJUzoG3b6iKv1jLpTYKAxr7fQiosrfhfn_wK5il7-sI1pIykH4Acjcyxmf7FhmWDGX8CXynYZVebaUehV4NWcnWbzmzg9kfE3ojbua1K05j17bw1aqjPj_GOAHENEUkGlOdza0ZRkAwrvUQP3P1HxTxJWG-H2xyebjvAfg97zgrY4Xtx-xncV-Dni4Hhg6/s4032/what%20makes%20travelling%20fun.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A pair of black sunglasses, a scrapbook and travel photos." border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJUzoG3b6iKv1jLpTYKAxr7fQiosrfhfn_wK5il7-sI1pIykH4Acjcyxmf7FhmWDGX8CXynYZVebaUehV4NWcnWbzmzg9kfE3ojbua1K05j17bw1aqjPj_GOAHENEUkGlOdza0ZRkAwrvUQP3P1HxTxJWG-H2xyebjvAfg97zgrY4Xtx-xncV-Dni4Hhg6/s16000/what%20makes%20travelling%20fun.jpg" title="What-Makes-Travelling-So-Much-Fun-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">
Something Different From Regular Life </span></h4><div>One of the reasons that people enjoy travelling so much is because it’s something a little different from regular life. It can be difficult when you are doing the same kind of thing day in, and day out when you are at home, so having something a little different is appealing to most people. It’s an adventure that you get to go on somewhere completely new, learning new things, and getting away from your regular. </div><div><br /></div><div>Now, we know that some people are going to say that the <a href="https://www.verywellmind.com/whats-the-point-of-life-why-you-might-feel-this-way-5272182"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">point of life</span></i></b></a> is to build something that you love and don’t want to get away from. There is nothing wrong with wanting a change of scenery and taking a step back from your life for a while. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Understanding Different Cultures</span></h4>
Something else that appeals to people is that they get to explore and see different cultures. It’s one thing to read about different kinds of people from all over the world, but it’s another thing to see the way that others live. You can look at what it’s like in different countries, the way that they live, and expand your general knowledge of the world. We know that this doesn’t appeal to everyone, but it’s a great way to become a well-cultured individual. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9tpm9LmxB0HhsE4lmOqGsolOdxDcQO0TuzxkIxCkoTQ8H_OR5wvKMDn262MkeDZ0FYcF5ZydL4S7QpXXfHLXsKb2pcaEeA0tktYmQMBjlsNfNhhLrBsgG5uDraUKgly2dVPDvAI796XMRu_E_X8c93w7fkW0KZh5XC9R-mFHg92lrBEpwDKpqUH_A4ECA/s4032/what%20makes%20travelling%20so%20much%20fun.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A scrapbook, a pair of black sunglasses and travel-themed photos." border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9tpm9LmxB0HhsE4lmOqGsolOdxDcQO0TuzxkIxCkoTQ8H_OR5wvKMDn262MkeDZ0FYcF5ZydL4S7QpXXfHLXsKb2pcaEeA0tktYmQMBjlsNfNhhLrBsgG5uDraUKgly2dVPDvAI796XMRu_E_X8c93w7fkW0KZh5XC9R-mFHg92lrBEpwDKpqUH_A4ECA/s16000/what%20makes%20travelling%20so%20much%20fun.jpg" title="What-Makes-Travelling-So-Much-Fun-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Getting To See Awesome Sights</span> </h4><div>Probably one of the best parts about traveling though is that you get to see some super awesome things while you are in different places. For example, you can get <a href="https://stonehengevisit.co.uk/windsor-castle-tickets"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">tickets to Windsor Castle</span></i></b></a> when you are visiting the UK, or you can get tickets to see a baseball game when you are in the US. Different countries have different sights available, some of which are historical landmarks, museums, religious places and so much more. </div><div><br /></div><div>It’s so cool to be able to go around the world, see the breathtaking views that you wouldn’t be able to see anywhere near where you live, and generally experience new things. It brings excitement into your life, and we all need a bit of that sometimes. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmkr0AfCS4Ls4hjwqRWBXIgb9ii57iIqfa1oBn5TZda85rs3zS6b-wX9OGP6SjXdZnVvUwfxBHzeEZA67PH09IMJ95TgWO4Nftr4lSWAWps0ywAr549LzbBuA8xt1Go3ec1I094DTRz0A0IH3-blQpOGFEPsCIuDK_5FaWHMpAAsd6_zXnWyLzQkW979Tl/s4032/what%20makes%20travelling%20so%20fun.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A scrapbook, a pair of black sunglasses and travel-themed photos." border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmkr0AfCS4Ls4hjwqRWBXIgb9ii57iIqfa1oBn5TZda85rs3zS6b-wX9OGP6SjXdZnVvUwfxBHzeEZA67PH09IMJ95TgWO4Nftr4lSWAWps0ywAr549LzbBuA8xt1Go3ec1I094DTRz0A0IH3-blQpOGFEPsCIuDK_5FaWHMpAAsd6_zXnWyLzQkW979Tl/s16000/what%20makes%20travelling%20so%20fun.jpg" title="What-Makes-Travelling-So-Much-Fun-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>So there you go then! These are some of the reasons why travelling can be so much fun and why so many people enjoy the adventure. If you are not someone who has been travelling much in your life, we hope that we have given you some inspiration to get out there and see the world. We promise that you won’t regret it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><i>*This post contains affiliate links. As I've gotten older, Christmas isn't about the presents, shopping and outdoing your neighbours on the Christmas lights. It's all about being grateful for the little things that <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2019/12/christmas-as-kid-traditions-i-miss.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Christmas</span></i></b></a> brings us. Obviously, when you're a child, all you think about is who's going to land the star roles of Mary and Joseph in the Nativity play, circling the toys you want in the Argos catalogue and wondering which present will be your "big" present underneath the tree. And as children, I guess you don't think about the littlest things to be grateful for when you're knee-deep in wrapping paper admiring your presents.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtJ5_fvVgUvgmHk1alc9zLBvHMUI9f3vD5WL9aG469Yu9iMUOQ8y7zSpd_m3fPvJypvLa8W1ddiCL-8IUbiZPs8Mdf6_tgDXJMqy49uf4l6AnNXapeLxfwB2epfS-JSZkWmqYWE5wzck37rbIKskhfc8Tmg8tSk6kTdHk96NkIHUfPI_gI0M5J15rsR5CW/s2400/gratitude%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman holding a Christmas mug wearing red pyjamas" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtJ5_fvVgUvgmHk1alc9zLBvHMUI9f3vD5WL9aG469Yu9iMUOQ8y7zSpd_m3fPvJypvLa8W1ddiCL-8IUbiZPs8Mdf6_tgDXJMqy49uf4l6AnNXapeLxfwB2epfS-JSZkWmqYWE5wzck37rbIKskhfc8Tmg8tSk6kTdHk96NkIHUfPI_gI0M5J15rsR5CW/s16000/gratitude%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Why-It's-Important-To-Be-Grateful-For-The-Little-Things-at-Christmas-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>From the age of 18, I never really thought about receiving tons of presents as a priority for Christmas. As for me, I'm someone who loves to give people presents. I love seeing their faces when they open them and (hopefully) love what I've bought them. Sometimes seeing a person's reaction is the best gift of all.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Christmas shouldn't have to be about lavishly spending money on presents or spending lots of money for something that lasts 24 hours. I would rather show gratitude for the things I already have this Christmas. For me, that's the greatest gift of all. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>As the title says, it's important to be grateful for the little things at Christmas. But it doesn't just have to be the smallest of things, it can be the biggest of things too. For example, it could be your family and friends, pets, your home, food, water etc. The littlest things could be something like having time off work over the Christmas holidays, the smell of your Christmas dinner cooking, or being able to contribute your culinary skills to the epic meal or the Eastenders Christmas Day episode. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVnH8B0vVHuy2leEj6dv0MHBVokzSOkZVpiXLwtZqDrB6gAX9a-n-tFMS12QzTajIQj6EGeCXm_KowwVOsWqWrzs-AGOGUa8MI2TPLmniGA0mGD7Jmaz0rEeAE70MdobtIU22XrrrmYR6fPhkH9A1odwP_uvmqbwo16fwU9ZcknhrRook3OC5wS08_zZTa/s1939/why%20i'm%20showing%20more%20gratitude%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A woman holding a Christmas mug wearing red pyjamas" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1939" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVnH8B0vVHuy2leEj6dv0MHBVokzSOkZVpiXLwtZqDrB6gAX9a-n-tFMS12QzTajIQj6EGeCXm_KowwVOsWqWrzs-AGOGUa8MI2TPLmniGA0mGD7Jmaz0rEeAE70MdobtIU22XrrrmYR6fPhkH9A1odwP_uvmqbwo16fwU9ZcknhrRook3OC5wS08_zZTa/s16000/why%20i'm%20showing%20more%20gratitude%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Why-It's-Important-To-Be-Grateful-For-The-Little-Things-at-Christmas-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Showing gratitude at Christmas is something I'm aiming to do every festive season from now on. What means more to me at Christmas is spending much-needed and blessed time with loved ones. Helping others out at Christmas, hugging loved ones a little tighter and showing how grateful I am that they're in my life, no matter how long or short I've known them. That's how I want to share my gratitude this Christmas. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>When it comes to gratitude, we all show gratitude for different things. December is one of those months where it's joyous for some, a time for reflection for others and some may feel sombre. I'm someone who has basically experienced all these three things during December! <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>My last two Christmases have not been the best. I've suffered with my mental health quite badly over the last two Winters and festive periods. I'm hoping for a much better December this year, I hope I will have no blips with my mental health in the run-up to <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2022/12/christmas-self-care-ideas.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">Christmas</span></i></b></a>. This is why I am trying to not only show more gratitude this Christmas, but I want to remember all the things that have always brought me joy in December. </div><div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyr7R_r3Yv2wFm3TOl8JyW2sVphWYJnHbREuv9OeB5ptj-lC7vQOxBZCe7Z2YXjj0jUvAhcJQ02uYLGjxjNeEufsN0YVzGjrAtZQeXQZIvAeICKJ9qErQUK_DIJ15SLUjITo3iJh7et3lIK3u1-cSQ2fgEiEpIfxR_D2xD9IUZLwvF4WVeTEF6kQTQH5X4/s2400/things%20that%20bring%20me%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A laptop with the movie 'The Holiday' on screen." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyr7R_r3Yv2wFm3TOl8JyW2sVphWYJnHbREuv9OeB5ptj-lC7vQOxBZCe7Z2YXjj0jUvAhcJQ02uYLGjxjNeEufsN0YVzGjrAtZQeXQZIvAeICKJ9qErQUK_DIJ15SLUjITo3iJh7et3lIK3u1-cSQ2fgEiEpIfxR_D2xD9IUZLwvF4WVeTEF6kQTQH5X4/s16000/things%20that%20bring%20me%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Things-That-Always-Bring-Me-Joy-In-December-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>In terms of what things bring joy to us at Christmas and December, it doesn't necessarily have to be the biggest things, but it can be the smallest things. We all find joy in different things, whether it be Christmas or not. Someone may love to eat all the Brussels sprouts they can get during Christmas dinner. For me, that would be my idea of blergh! </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>You may be able to take some inspiration from the things that always bring me joy at Christmas. Some of these things I'm going to list you may not agree with, but some may have you nodding in agreement!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Here are the things that always bring me joy in December (in no particular order): </span></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">1) Food</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">Pigs in blankets, hot chocolate, snacking until your heart's content - I'm in! Going through the supermarkets now, shelves are full to the brim of Christmas-themed food, snacks and drinks. I love to make the most of the supermarket at Christmas as some food items are only available until after Christmas!</span></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjGRXy8ylZ4-GLez2jNI3BxVTcnu2hu5QM5aIjRM5q_E93S9NvSjR4YPPTl79UndKo68oi7g9ejqL0TTiWxDStSBpHO1BdHN-liPW8snuBpihuAglyEYHHgb2SCQS3LVbbN2M8Afgos0e8rtDPKvHQ2b2OsV8nd58a0pPw_RXFU8n_09vfMujO1C4rEJDu/s2400/things%20that%20always%20bring%20me%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A laptop with the movie 'The Holiday' on screen." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjGRXy8ylZ4-GLez2jNI3BxVTcnu2hu5QM5aIjRM5q_E93S9NvSjR4YPPTl79UndKo68oi7g9ejqL0TTiWxDStSBpHO1BdHN-liPW8snuBpihuAglyEYHHgb2SCQS3LVbbN2M8Afgos0e8rtDPKvHQ2b2OsV8nd58a0pPw_RXFU8n_09vfMujO1C4rEJDu/s16000/things%20that%20always%20bring%20me%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Things-That-Always-Bring-Me-Joy-In-December-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) Christmas lights</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">A Christmas tradition which I have done since I started driving is driving around looking at Christmas lights. Unfortunately, as the driver, it's pretty difficult and dangerous for me to admire Christmas lights while driving down badly lit roads. However, my Mam is always with me so she describes them as I concentrate! I love seeing the colour scheme and theme people go for with Christmas lights. </span></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) Christmas films</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone - it's Christmas movie season and I am all for it. Nothing brings me more joy than curling up on the sofa, under a blanket with a hot chocolate watching a Christmas film.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Spending quality time with family and friends</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">Spending time with loved ones in December feels more special and fulfilling in a way than at any other time of year. It could be spending time with your extended family, with your partner or even just your dog or cat. I know that spending time with family for some people isn't easy, so make sure you set boundaries for yourself. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn1mDO9Ec1bvQyvpIlkt9olWxghNWOtzTtPqtJOSMxNiSR7dVjTjiN0Pq6LRGaNgpAierZ5BG-SieQqKuYj7rcQ2cfbhMXap5kQcW1j7_KtsGz2jTCExAyCPCXPkzo3nwKLpIpyz1EVlWEs23kUmEgzblYz5wIL7DkYlH_s7mZahCjdMT6emKX3F97Pef7/s2400/joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A laptop with the movie 'The Holiday' on screen." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn1mDO9Ec1bvQyvpIlkt9olWxghNWOtzTtPqtJOSMxNiSR7dVjTjiN0Pq6LRGaNgpAierZ5BG-SieQqKuYj7rcQ2cfbhMXap5kQcW1j7_KtsGz2jTCExAyCPCXPkzo3nwKLpIpyz1EVlWEs23kUmEgzblYz5wIL7DkYlH_s7mZahCjdMT6emKX3F97Pef7/s16000/joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Things-That-Always-Bring-Me-Joy-In-December-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">5) Cosy knitwear</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">I'm not just talking about Christmas jumpers. I just mean those extra comfy and cosy jumpers and cardigans. The ones you dig out at the start of Winter to keep yourself warm. </span></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">6) Christmas pyjamas</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">I'm someone who does love wearing Christmas pyjamas throughout December. I do love buying a new pair of Christmas pyjamas every year. I've been scouring Vinted for some lately and there are loads on there for sale! </span></div><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">7) Advent calendars</span></h4><div>Yes, I am a 30-year-old woman and I still love an advent calendar. Not just the chocolate ones, I do love the traditional cardboard one where you see a little Christmassy photo behind the numbered window. I still get excited to open the double window on Christmas Eve! I seriously need to get out more.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghrVHF9YevMW1QxUBFNn17n0lhWn9OIpEuqoTO-H-5i6lkwaYkZAbhn6HBbfoF9MN2SknkEXr6rUn6pQfT3ZCSIC10kHwrNpOnZxoaQqkX_JPfQi54dctfFE2WATa9vLJp9wLZFyHe9SKCFuQWe7nvTIPfZGrBrr5Llw6Z-wfCJontJoEBlQZd5x6PhhZT/s2400/9%20things%20that%20bring%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A laptop with the movie 'The Holiday' on screen." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghrVHF9YevMW1QxUBFNn17n0lhWn9OIpEuqoTO-H-5i6lkwaYkZAbhn6HBbfoF9MN2SknkEXr6rUn6pQfT3ZCSIC10kHwrNpOnZxoaQqkX_JPfQi54dctfFE2WATa9vLJp9wLZFyHe9SKCFuQWe7nvTIPfZGrBrr5Llw6Z-wfCJontJoEBlQZd5x6PhhZT/s16000/9%20things%20that%20bring%20joy%20at%20christmas.jpg" title="Things-That-Always-Bring-Me-Joy-In-December-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">8) Sunny, crisp days</span></h4><div>Going for a walk on those sunny, crisp days definitely blows away the cobwebs and even provides renewed energy. I usually like to take walks during December to get myself out of the house and just enjoy the limited sunshine December supplies us. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">9) Christmas music</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: inherit;">I know, I know, we get fed up with hearing the same defrosted Christmas songs every year! However, when you do hear them on the radio or Apple playlist, you can't help</span><span style="font-family: Lora;"> </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">belting out a Mariah Carey high note or wish Christmas could be every day like Wizzard. </span></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">I would love to know what things bring you joy during December!</span></h4></div>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com23tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8541552407677501610.post-91980162173178989392023-11-27T05:54:00.000-08:002023-11-27T05:54:39.383-08:00Money Habits That Will Drain Your Bank Account & How To Change That<!--Google tag (gtag.js)-->

It's so easy to spend your money these days with the help of contactless. A tap here, a tap there, it's so easy to subconsciously spend more money than you realise. I would say that since the pandemic in 2020, using contactless has become more common. Bad money habits can easily creep into our lives. Some are wanted, some are unwanted - it's the unwanted money habits that you need to look out for.<div><br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX1JXx0c_ZDGIlxmnif6gtGazvfy2FVBGNznR9bGm6k7aHkNfn0mxdx8UBI7vLg3U4Fy7yDCMZqgqfVluFy7KeDu8Icz1I3WbDXp1JCpavxAvWmp1zLAbHGP7e2yiSDn1yl1RYb4Kv0GryNCyg7s_yq2osA6hqJvSWuJZdVh_COLRKymGiYqQIs6xhfvjn/s2400/money%20habits%20to%20break.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="An iphone, a notebook, coins and a money jar." border="0" data-original-height="2400" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX1JXx0c_ZDGIlxmnif6gtGazvfy2FVBGNznR9bGm6k7aHkNfn0mxdx8UBI7vLg3U4Fy7yDCMZqgqfVluFy7KeDu8Icz1I3WbDXp1JCpavxAvWmp1zLAbHGP7e2yiSDn1yl1RYb4Kv0GryNCyg7s_yq2osA6hqJvSWuJZdVh_COLRKymGiYqQIs6xhfvjn/s16000/money%20habits%20to%20break.jpg" title="Money-Habits-That-Will-Drain-Your-Bank-Account-&-How-To-Change-That-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /></div><div>Sometimes the unwanted bad money habits aren't the biggest things, it's the smallest ones that are sometimes the issue. I'm not going to lie, I've bought things and signed up for subscriptions that cost me monthly. We've all done it and we'll still continue to do it. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I've made a lot of cutbacks lately and it's been surprising how much money I have saved by making a few changes. These changes have been small, but I've noticed a significant difference in my finances since carrying them out. These bad money habits that I have taken control of are ones that you may think about cutting back on too. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Here are the bad money habits that I have managed to get rid of:</span></h4><div><span style="font-family: Lora;"><b>1) Takeaways</b></span></div><div><br /></div><div>Ordering a takeaway is so easy to do, especially when you can't be bothered to cook. It's so easy to hit Just Eat or Deliveroo and order from your favourite fast food place. But, rather than be lazy and order a takeaway, a takeaway is something I consider a luxury now and I will only order one at the most, once a week. Sometimes it can be a couple of weeks without ordering something! To me, that's big progress and I've saved a lot of money by getting off my bum and cooking something, even if it's just a microwave meal! </div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggdOPikWYdaOD0O6CNLI1BQZAiokxu5WDPfFKKVQhC24QJG5JZ46yX5v582ea31RsqQ2utAF6hC2x8vqaEfqOu1IIbiymnEOMc4dLVWMC60ngR3-dJ-9lhMe5XKUA1GDPSUPZzySjP4_6szDUAiafa0x4yYH8S_mU-i4G3iDoOqz2-Mxg2M73-Bgci1Il9/s2400/money%20habits.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A notebook, an Iphone and a money jar." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggdOPikWYdaOD0O6CNLI1BQZAiokxu5WDPfFKKVQhC24QJG5JZ46yX5v582ea31RsqQ2utAF6hC2x8vqaEfqOu1IIbiymnEOMc4dLVWMC60ngR3-dJ-9lhMe5XKUA1GDPSUPZzySjP4_6szDUAiafa0x4yYH8S_mU-i4G3iDoOqz2-Mxg2M73-Bgci1Il9/s16000/money%20habits.jpg" title="Money-Habits-That-Will-Drain-Your-Bank-Account-&-How-To-Change-That-LucyMary" /></a></div></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">2) Unsubscribing to unused subscriptions</span></h4><div>Let's face it, we're all subscribed to a subscription we either no longer have use for or can't remember why you signed up in the first place! I've taken the time to look at what goes out of my account monthly and whittled down which subscriptions I have no use for and hit the "unsubscribe" button. I haven't saved a huge amount of money a month, but a saving is a saving!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">3) Shopping online</span></h4><div>Probably my biggest financial recoup is not shopping online from high street retailers. It's been so long since I've ordered something from ASOS (my biggest spend at times). I so much prefer to buy from Vinted at a fraction of the price! The quality of the items I have bought from there has been great and also selling clothes I no longer wear on the website is a great way for me to make a little extra money!</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">4) Buying a takeaway coffee/tea</span></h4><div>Now, this is something I don't really do because 1) I don't drink coffee and 2) It's just a waste of money for me. It's nice as a treat once in a while, but when it's more sustainable to buy your own coffee machine and make it at home, it may save you a little every month. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU6YrY-j74XQFsZ1T9n8Q5A6POTcGxjsC3m2p-4SHz5e6uevEEMo5zcHburPDEDNLiUFAdf6ShM8J8ZOUXgbxmiqrSU7tAupu_JebDJFwgVIWbw-Zmuma05KVrWJtjpSYiYbB1zIS0XtMl7Ck2SCDFmM-Xy53CLVkmu9Yw-7ce18nLlor-cTTD9hkAoLav/s2400/money%20habits%20and%20how%20to%20change%20them.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="An iphone, a pair of black eyeglasses, a money jar on top of a notebook." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU6YrY-j74XQFsZ1T9n8Q5A6POTcGxjsC3m2p-4SHz5e6uevEEMo5zcHburPDEDNLiUFAdf6ShM8J8ZOUXgbxmiqrSU7tAupu_JebDJFwgVIWbw-Zmuma05KVrWJtjpSYiYbB1zIS0XtMl7Ck2SCDFmM-Xy53CLVkmu9Yw-7ce18nLlor-cTTD9hkAoLav/s16000/money%20habits%20and%20how%20to%20change%20them.jpg" title="Money-Habits-That-Will-Drain-Your-Bank-Account-&-How-To-Change-That-LucyMary" /></a></div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">5) Buying bottled water</span></h4><div>Surely it's cheaper and more sustainable to buy a reusable bottle to fill up with water? </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">6) Doing at-home beauty treatments</span></h4><div>Whether you have your nails done, get your lashes done or get yourself a fake tan, these are the types of <a href="https://www.lucymary.co.uk/2023/10/achieving-confidence-with-beauty-routine.html" target="_blank"><b><i><span style="color: #e06666;">at-home beauty</span></i></b></a> treatments you can do at home. One thing I have mentioned is getting your hair done. Now, for me, this is my one big treat as I love going to the hairdressers to have mine done. I only have my hair done every 3 months so it's not an extortionate outgoing. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Now, more habits will drain your bank account and there are so many ways to save money. I think if I mention them all, this will be like reading a book, not a blog post. Also, we all spend our money differently, we all like to treat ourselves in different ways and we all like to save money in different ways. This post is just a little bit of advice and things I've picked up from not only myself but others too, I'm not a qualified financial advisor. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-vlshhwOL4E7o3nDAs-R5c2FwooPDksC0Np_xHLkFrdAmnupAG79WsKOiYRdsHcMGRSP2PF6aXiX1MbSp7qW6-eoIMILF5Po4CSEJoAqDi4YCD3BPuEX1cRgXV6C6nKHcBYJP36Ka36-y4izJu9XnOOpKIWgpoC_zFrKrpEvWLsLC-NJi_axwvVTt2nzB/s2400/money%20habits%20that%20will%20break%20the%20bank.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A notebook, an iphone and coins." border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="2400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-vlshhwOL4E7o3nDAs-R5c2FwooPDksC0Np_xHLkFrdAmnupAG79WsKOiYRdsHcMGRSP2PF6aXiX1MbSp7qW6-eoIMILF5Po4CSEJoAqDi4YCD3BPuEX1cRgXV6C6nKHcBYJP36Ka36-y4izJu9XnOOpKIWgpoC_zFrKrpEvWLsLC-NJi_axwvVTt2nzB/s16000/money%20habits%20that%20will%20break%20the%20bank.jpg" title="Money-Habits-That-Will-Drain-Your-Bank-Account-&-How-To-Change-That-LucyMary" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>There was no way I was going to delve into topics like credit cards, purely because I don't have one and need to gain more knowledge of credit cards and interest. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>As I said though, there are so many effective ways to save money by stopping bad money habits. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Lora;">Let me know your thoughts, do you have money habits you'd like to get rid of?</span></h4></div>Lucy Maryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04841527392746870535noreply@blogger.com18
