Why I Started Blogging

I went through a blogger's block (the equivalent to a writer's block) a little while back. For the life of me I couldn't think of anything to write. I started typing out something then I would immediately press the delete button cause it was complete and utter rubbish. That was the cycle that was repeating itself constantly - write, delete, swear, repeat.

It gets to a point where I have a rant, shouting things like "I am s**t at this!" and "Why the hell did I start blogging?!" plus, "What's the point in doing this?! No one f*****g reads my blog anyway!". Well, you get the idea. Usually a large glass of rosé and allows me to get back to my reasonable-ish rational self.

So through all the whinging and ranting and the odd 'F' word being muttered, it got me thinking, why did I start blogging in the first place? What made me think that people would be interested in my thoughts and views on everyday life?

Well I'll tell ya...

Once upon a time, it was October 2016, I wasn't in work at the time due to personal reasons, all I could do was scroll through Twitter and refresh my other social media platforms every 30 seconds.
I knew that my CF friend Josie did some blogging, I never really read her posts before, so I took a look, I was so impressed, her fashion content was and still is amazing and she showed to me that she could still write and take lovely pictures whilst fighting Cystic Fibrosis, she was my inspiration to set up a Wix website and get into the blogging game.

Josie had the tenacity to keep going with her blog despite going through the process of waiting for and receiving a double lung transplant, that's someone all bloggers should aspire to in my eyes.

I was incredibly nervous about publishing my first post, I didn't know how people were going to react, especially my family and friends because they did not have a clue that I was planning to start a blog! In the end, I just thought "Ah, sod it! If I want to do it, then I should just do it!"

Blogging has given me the chance to see how I could handle the world of blogging and show off my writing and see if I was going to be any good at it! I'm sometimes one of those people who says they are going to do something but then don't see it through to the end. But I'm so glad I kept to blogging as I have grown to love it so much and I have made some lovely friends through it.
I seen this quote the other day on Pinterest which sums up what bloggers like myself are trying to achieve:

"Writing is an underestimated art, you are painting colourful images in people's minds by using words of black and white"

What made you want to start your blog? I'd love to know!
