How To Create A Personalised Gallery Wall

My bedroom is my sanctuary. Whenever I feel low or just need time to myself, I head straight upstairs, lie on my bed, stick my headphones on and chill out. When lying down, it's good to know that I have art or photo's around me of what personifies my life and also prints that represent me and my personality. Before I redecorated my bedroom way back in 2017, I barely had any sort of posters or artwork hanging up anywhere, I never knew what I wanted to buy or what I could buy to add some style and personalisation to my bedroom and it's walls. Fast forward to 2021, I am always looking for new prints to represent my current mood, style and my personality. Artwork doesn't have to make your bedroom or your house look pretty, it can also mean something to you.

how to create a personalised gallery wall with poster store

Recently, Poster Store contacted me about using some of their fantastic artwork in my home and it was a no brainer. I wanted to explore new pieces of art and also change things up in my bedroom in terms of what posters and frames that we're previously hanging on my walls.

Now, when choosing what photo's I'd like to have displayed on the walls, I knew that it meant me needing to change things up in terms of how to style them. Yes, guys, it's time for a gallery wall ted talk. Gallery walls can be daunting if you're new to them or you just don't have a clue how to hang up frames in different positions or are not sure of the layout you are wanting to go for.

I have a few tips that can help you to design your gallery wall and make it personalised for you, and they are:

STEP  1  -  RESEARCH
___________
On Poster Store, there are so many categories of different posters and photos. From nature to quotes to maps and cities, there's always going to be something that you have a love for. Do your research, find some inspiration, choose posters that suit you and your personality, then decide on a theme, speaking of themes...

2) STEP  2  -  CHOOSE  A  THEME
___________
Figure out what theme you would like to go for, whatever room you are planning to lay out your gallery wall. Look at your current room and see what colours and theme would best suit it. There's always something for every theme and décor on Poster Store. As you can see, my bedroom currently has a pink, grey and white theme going on. I also use a bit of rose gold to make it pop a little. So my choice of posters was quite easy for me as Poster Store catered for the theme of my bedroom easily. In terms of frames, Poster Store have a great selection of different sizes and colours and there is something to suit everyone.

STEP  3  -  MEASURE  UP  +  DECIDE  THE  LAYOUT
___________
Before buying any posters and frames, for the love of god, measure up how big you want them to be. Don't buy frames and posters before measuring up the wall you plan to put them up on. Decide on how many posters you want to hang up, what the layout will be and how big you think you will need each frame and poster to be. Also figure out how much of a gap you want in between each poster (depending on how many you are ordering) I use the 'Measure' app on my iPhone as it's just easier for me to get the right measurements. Once you get the measurements right and you are happy of how the gallery wall will look, get shopping!

STEP  4  -  PREPARING  THE  POSTERS  FOR  HANGING  THEM  UP
___________
When the posters and frames arrive, the posters won't be set in the frames ready to hang up right away. But, for me personally, that's the best part, it's so exciting to put the posters in the frames and seeing what it looks like before hanging them up! Or maybe that's just me. Anyway, get framing and lay it out on the floor (if you have enough room) so you know you are happy with the finished look before it goes on the wall.

STEP  5  -  TIME  TO  HANG  THEM  UP!
____________
Poster Store frames are so easy to hang up, they have a specific hook at the back which fits most picture hooks you can buy today. I would say this is the hardest bit of the whole gallery wall extravaganza - the hanging of it all. I won't lie guys, it will take a few attempts, a few bangs of the hammer on the hooks to get this right. Maybe use a pencil to mark where the picture hook should be nailed into and that will help massively. This step will take a bit of time to get right but it'll be worth it!

6) STEP  6  -  ADMIRE  YOUR  GALLERY  WALL!
___________
Yes, take a look at the finished gallery wall and admire the effort you have put in! That's what I did after I hung up these new posters in my bedroom.

I hope this post has helped you learn how to create a personalised gallery wall. Like I said near the beginning, the art, posters and anything like that should represent your personality. It should represent your life, your ambitions, your dreams, the things you love and, most importantly represent YOU.

The reasons why I chose these new posters in my bedroom? Well I'll tell you! I chose the Dahlia posters as artistic pieces to hang either side of the middle one. Plus I love flowers. The middle one - 'Inhale, Exhale' kind of represents my life in general. Having Cystic Fibrosis, my whole life is been evolved around breathing, I got to take care of my lungs and keep them happy so that quote poster portrays that.

Another poster I chose was this huge 'Namastay in bed' - purely because it's a quote meaning sleep and is perfect to hang in my bedroom. Plus, I love sleep, well, who doesn't?!

The last piece I chose was this smaller poster of a quote I found on Poster Store which kind of gave me goose bumps when I read it. It illustrates what I want my life to be like right now. Positive thoughts and vibes is something I am always saying to others and is something I want my life to be based on. I wanted a rose gold frame to make it stand out which sits perfectly on my chest of drawers.
