How To Spend Christmas 2020

*Items in this post are PR products. Please read the end of this post for more details.

I don't think we'll have a more weirder and sombre Christmas than this one will be this year. The rules seem different in the four nations of the UK. Up to three households can meet for the Christmas period. But you can't guarantee that people will 'really' follow these rules. I can already envisage another lockdown in January. Sigh.

For all of us, it's been an incredibly tough and surreal year. Who'd have thought that 2020 would turn out this way? A pandemic taking over the world, infecting millions of people and, heartbreakingly, dying from it too. It's hard to comprehend even if we are in the last month of 2020.

Christmas has come at a time where we need a little cheer and happiness. We can still decorate our houses as normal, we can still buy that turkey or tofu, whatever your preference. We can still give and receive gifts for loved ones. Christmas hasn't changed too much in that perspective, but we just have got to be careful about this whole three households rule. Ok, it's impossible to keep a 2m distance at the dinner table, but you know, just don't go overboard and have 43 people in your house at one time. That's not a clever idea.

I, like so many others, are so grateful that Christmas has come around at this time. It's given us something to look forward to, it's given us a reason to smile again, it's given us hope that 2021 may hopefully lead to better things for us all. But before 2021 does happen, I'd like to see the terms and conditions.

We can sit down and watch all those classic Christmas films, listen and even sing to all those classic Christmas songs we always love to hear, we can devour lots of hot chocolate, Lindt, Quality Street, pigs in blankets and turkey. Ooh, I'm getting hungry now!

So, how to spend Christmas 2020? For me, my plans haven't altered, I'll be spending Christmas with my Mam and it'll be just the two of us for the day. I'm more than happy with that. I intend to see my family before Christmas, exchange cards and presents, have a few little drinks and just enjoy each other's company. We haven't been able to do that much this year, as everybody else. Obviously everybody has their own plans and I hope you enjoy time with your loved ones!

How are you spending Christmas this year? Let me know below!

  3. That's such a cute little tree! I'd love to get a few of them to scatter around the house. It's definitely going to be a weird Christmas this year. My Dad might be in hospital for Christmas Day so it's going to be even weirder. But you know, this year has been so ridiculous as it is, I'm not surpised x

  5. Gorgeous tree, I have been looking for something similar. It sounds like a lovely way to spend Christmas. I am with my partner, son and Dad this year. It'll be quiet without my step daughters and in-laws but we will make up for it.

  16. I'm glad you're still going to be seeing your family and having some small celebrations even if you can't see friends. It's the same for me, just my mum and I this year. We normally have my grandparents and aunt too so it will be a bit of a weird one, but I'm looking at the silver lining that I'll have less kitchen stress if I'm only feeding the two of us (well 3, Hugo gets a little plate) x

  25. We're having a much more low key Christmas this year - it's difficult as we both have separate parents so it's made things a lot harder. I'm grateful more than anything that we still have support bubbles as it meant above all else I'd still be able to see my Mum!
Hope you and your Mum have a lovely Christmas day together!
