I'm Bored - What Can I Do?

Disclaimer - in no way am I going to encourage you to panic buy toilet rolls and baked beans in this post.

Unless you've been hibernating in a cave these last few weeks, there's this thing called the Coronavirus dominating the headlines, newspapers, social media feeds, small talk and even dogs and cats are beginning to guess what's going on.

I'm Bored - What Can I Do?

I don't want to base this post all around the virus. It's already ingrained on our brains as it is and I'm all for trying to keep positive and putting things into perspective!

Some people are fortunate that they can work from home. However, for people like me, that's not possible as I work in customer service which means I can't exactly make people lattes or cappuccinos in my kitchen. Now, if you're beginning the self isolation process (which I'm just starting to do) and you're already going bat shit crazy staring at four walls all day, I've got a few little ideas on what to do to get yourself out of that boredom and tediousness -

1) DO  AN  ONLINE  COURSE
______________________________
It could be something as simple as learning a new language, something which I'm looking into. It's so easy to sign up to a course online and it's relatively affordable. I'd love to learn Spanish or Portuguese. Not Welsh. It's my country's national language but it's too frigging hard. Too many double L's and words I can't pronounce.
It doesn't have to be a language course, it could be a short course in knitting, writing, accountancy, business, jam making, the list is endless!

2) BINGE  WATCH  SERIES  ON  NETFLIX
______________________________
That series on Netflix you've been meaning to watch but literally haven't had the chance to? Now is the opportune moment to settle down and binge watch 10 episodes of that series you've been eager to get stuck into!

3) SPRING  CLEAN  THE  HOUSE
______________________________
This is the perfect opportunity to get your Mrs Hinch on and blitz the house with Flash, Bold, Dettol, Fairy Liquid and Zoflora (all other cleaning brands/products are available) . I know I'll be doing that during any self isolation I'll be put in. A tidy house is going to give me a great satisfaction, surely it does for a lot of people?

4) HAVE  A  GOOD  SORTOUT
______________________________
This one kind of ties in with the above idea. Have a good sort out of your clothes, attic, cupboard under the stairs, garage or even your saucepan cupboard. Saucepan cupboards are a nightmare to sort - and it's a noisy job.

5) WORKOUT
_____________________________
A good chance to get your gym mode on at home and start the day with a morning workout. The gym may be out of bounds for you right now so it'll be a great time for you to discover workout videos on YouTube. I usually do Joe Wicks, Blogilates or Yoga by Adrienne workouts on a daily basis as they're the ones that challenge me the most. Obviously there are so many other workout videos out there, you'll always find the best one for you!

6) READ
_____________________________
There's no better time to sit down with a cuppa and engage yourself in a story. I have a couple of books I need to get through and I'm sure I shall be purchasing more over the next few months. Any recommendations welcome! Also I think reading can definitely taker your mind off everything that is going on right now. No books contain a story about the Coronavirus, so no books are off limits right now.

7) START  A  NEW  PROJECT
_____________________________
That book that you've been meaning to write, I'm sure you got plenty of time to write a chapter or two. Got a new business idea? Start the ball rolling on your idea and reach out to your demographic (I think that's the right word) . You want to start decorate your living room? Get the paint brushes out ladies and gentlemen!

I'm Bored - What Can I Do?

8) FIND  A  NEW  HOBBY
_____________________________
Knitting, crocheting, doing jigsaws, cooking (if you can find anything in your local supermarkets right now) DIY, you name it, find that hobby that interests you and learn new skills. It'll definitely stop any boredom!

The next few months are going to be tough on us all. But if we stand together (hypothetically), we'll get through this tough period together! As long as panic buyers AKA selfish twats stop overstocking on loo rolls and if we follow the Government's guidelines, we can get through this. Please don't treat self isolation as a holiday, because it's not. It isn't for me anyway, as someone who is high risk, I've got to be very careful (I nearly said 'dead careful', but I think that would have been a little distasteful) . Stay safe everyone!

  9. I'm quite glad that I have a little bit of a backlog of recipes half typed up that need finishing for a future series so I'm yet to find myself bored with nothing to do. However, I'm expecting to be there by the end of the week if I have a productive few days and I'm dreading it. I enrolled on a new course today so hopefully that can keep me busy for a little while! I'm trying to figure out ways I can adapt my workouts for home life too so hopefully I can stick to some sort of routine soon. I hope you're doing well x

  14. Such a good post -probably the motivation I need to actually start that online course, rather than watch reruns of Dragon's Den as entrepreneurial "research". Love your blog by the way <3
