DoubleTree Hilton Spa: A Review

Ahh, a spa day. The ultimate pamper day where you can just kick back, relax and let your worries disappear for an hour or two.

Now, let's rewind back to December 2019 for a sec. One of my Christmas presents was a spa day voucher for the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel and Spa in Liverpool, courtesy of my dear mother. A present which I was not expecting and was equally excited about! A spa day in my favourite city, I was loving life on that Christmas Day!

However, this thing called a pandemic hit us and the world and the spa day was put on hold for 18 months. So a year of shielding and two vaccines later, it was finally time to head to Liverpool and finally use the voucher that had been patiently sitting in my bedside draw for over 18 months.

So, the DoubleTree Hilton spa. An eforea Spa which uses Elemis for their facial, exfoliating, wraps and massage treatments. It's based in Liverpool city centre so if you're staying in the city centre, it's most probably a stone's throw away from where you're staying!

Upon entering the spa, the place was so serene, quiet and had an instant feel of relaxation about it. Me and my best friend sat in the waiting area, decided what treatments we were going to have and waited to be shown to the changing rooms to get changed in our complimentary fluffy robes and slippers. I seriously do think that this was the part of the morning I was looking forward to the most.

We then got taken into a very tranquil room to wait for the therapists to come and get us to start our treatments. Ooh, I forgot to say which treatment I went for! *insert face palm emoji* I went for the back massage as my back was in need of a massage after driving for three hours the day before. The spa offers a variety of treatments, from different massages for different body areas to different facials for different facial needs.

The massage was amazing, the therapist was lovely and she asked me which part of my back needed the most work on. The bottom half of my back is always in dire need of a massage as it twinges quite a lot. I'm one of those people who struggles to know whether to talk to the massage therapist or not, is it good spa etiquette to tell the therapist your life story whilst your head is in a hole in the bed?!

Anyway, after the 30 minute back massage, I went to the hydrotherapy pool and had a little swim. The pool wasn't massive and not too deep, which is more than fine for me. I used to be quite a strong swimmer as a kid, no, I can barely do a length without my legs tiring me out! One thing I loved about the pool also was the temperature, it wasn't too cold where you feel like you've jumped off an iceberg into the Arctic Ocean, it was just right!

Also in the pool area, there is a good sized sauna, aroma steam room and whirlpool. I don't tend to use the steam room or sauna as they're riddled with germs, but my best friend did and she loved them both! The jacuzzi I didn't get a chance to use as there was always a group of people in there and I didn't fancy sitting too close to anyone else!

A lovely, relaxing spa morning came to an end, I reluctantly put my white fluffy robe back in the robe bin in the changing room and shot off back to the hotel.

All in all, the Double Tree Hilton Spa was well worth the wait and the beautiful, luxurious spa in the city centre setting is a spa I would love to visit again in the future, this time with my own money!

  2. I've been to one DoubleTree hilton for a spa weekend in Syon Lane which was fantastic and quite boujee, quite empty and had adult only hours in the pool (fantastic) and then one quite rubbish one in Cambridge (outskirts) which was just meh and a bit grimey. This one looks really nice and looks like you had a lovely time! xx

    1. That's fab that the spa you went to had adult only hours for the pool, nothing worse than kids splashing around while you're trying to have a swim! xx
