Summer Indoors?!

*Items in this post have been gifted. Read disclaimer at the end of the post for more info.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I shall be spending my Summer sitting in the front/back garden talking to the birds and watching my cat attempt to catch them.

With me and so many others having to shield for a lot longer than we thought we was going to be, our shielding sentences will go on long into the midst of Summer (August 16th for people in Wales) which means no beer gardens, no beaches (except for the idiots who decide to crowd down there on weekends) and no holidays (same for everyone also). But I've grown to accept that and I shall be trying to make the most of Summer at home.

Anyway, Summer indoors. How can I possibly make the most of Summer when I'm not going to be allowed to go further than my front garden. I have been racking my brains on this one and have come up with some ideas of how to bring Summer inside -

1)  BUY  FAKE  TAN
____________
Yep, buy the stuff in heaps. I usually apply fake tan on my legs in the Summer, it's nice to give them that bronzed glow from the lack of sunshine that seems to be missing in a UK summer. Give yourself the illusion that you've just come back from somewhere exotic, it does work, I promise!

2) GO  SOMEWHERE  QUIET  FOR  A  WALK
____________
Shielders are allowed out for 1 hours worth of exercise a day. Hurrah! I'm currently searching for quiet places in my local area to take a walk right now, I live in a busy area so the job of finding somewhere quiet within a 5 mile radius has been tricky. But once I do, I'll be heading out, masked up and enjoying some Vitamin D.

3) HAVE  A  BBQ
____________
If you have your own BBQ and can get some decent meat or peppers to cook on the BBQ, then have yourself a little BBQ! I love BBQ food, every Summer my Aunty does a BBQ and I always love the way her and my Uncle cook the food, it always tastes so nice! I miss family BBQ's. I miss BBQ's in general.

4) SIT  OUT  IN  THE  GARDEN
_____________
Yes, quite an obvious one. But clean down the garden chairs and furniture, grab yourself a drink and your sunglasses and chill outside and imagine yourself on the beach somewhere abroad. Sometimes imagining that doesn't really work when you can hear neighbours dogs barking or somebody putting decking down in their garden.

5) GET  A  PADDLING  POOL
_____________
My neighbours have the biggest paddling pool in their back garden and I look at it in complete jealousy. I would love to have a paddling pool in my back garden. I have to make do with a washing up bowl and dipping my feet in it. Mind you, it does keep you cool in the sunshine!

Let me know your plans for your Summer indoors!

  4. You are me and I am you. I'm definitely spending my summer indoors. I went for a walk the other day. It felt good but kinda weird. I always sit in the garden as it makes me feel peaceful and it a weird way of exploring the outdoors while indoors.... I had a sip party.
I going to have a bbq soon as I miss going out. I might as well.
You look amazing in that 2 piece.

  6. I can't believe the fiasco with the beach either, it's mental isn't it? You wouldn't think there was a global pandemic from the photos. Buying a paddling pool is such a good idea, they're a fab way of cooling down xx

  10. When the weather is nice all I want to do is spend it outside but I never really like going to beaches when it’s super hot because it’s always packed, I much prefer going to a nice quiet area to enjoy it! X

  11. Theres definitely some great ways to spend Summer at home. I live in a flat at the moment though so I only have a balcony so I don't have much of a garden so thats paddling pools and bbqs off the list for me haha, but I do like going for quiet walks near by!

  12. Although I know we're allowed out a lot more now, I'll be joining you in staying firmly in my garden other than my daily dog walks (which I'm grateful for because it's pretty much the only time I see the outdoor world). Seeing the way some people behave when they get a sniff of freedom scares me a lot. I feel much happier at home, I hope you can make the most of it the best you can. And good luck finding a walking route soon! x

    1. I agree Sophie, I hate what this newfound freedom has done to people now, they just think that the pandemic is over and that it's safe to go out again now the pubs and shops are open, when it's NOT! I'm like you, I feel happier and safer at home, I hope you make the most of your Summer too Sophie! x

  17. I love that you're staying positive in light of the situation and still finding ways to enjoy summer! Sometimes there's nothing better than a few drinks in the sun in your own garden- granted it might get a bit dull by the end of the summer but it will save most of us a fortune to spend next summer as well!
