Sonsie: A Review of the Skincare Brand Co-Founded by Pamela Anderson

*This post contains PR items from Sonsie. Please see the end of the post for more details.

If you'd have told me I'd be writing a skincare product review about a brand co-founded by Pamela Anderson, let's just say, I wouldn't have believed you. One of the perks of freelancing is reviewing items that get sent to me, but reviewing Pamela Anderson's vegan skincare brand was something I never expected to do in my freelancing career. Anyway, Pamela's skincare brand, Sonsie, is aiming to provide straightforward formulas that support our health and skin, inside and out.

Who is Sonsie?

Sonsie is a *skincare brand founded by Pamela Anderson and Marie von Behrens-Felipe in the US. Sonsie is a brand that believes beauty is the freedom to be yourself. The brand has an authentic, natural, minimalistic approach to beauty, and it is the brand's central ethos.

Is Sonsie vegan and/or cruelty-free?

The brand is committed to keeping its ingredient list simple for its skincare products. The brand doesn't use any animal-derived ingredients, and its products are never tested on animals. So yes, the brand is vegan and cruelty-free!

Is Sonsie a sustainable brand?

Yes, they are! They are 'Certified Plastic Negative'. This is in partnership with Repurpose Global, meaning the brand offsets twice the amount of plastic it uses by funding the removal of plastic waste from the environment. The brand also uses sustainable packaging for its products.

Can I use Sonsie's products if I have sensitive skin?

Sonsie's products are formulated and suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin. The products are dermatologically tested and are safe for sensitive skin. Pregnant women are safe to use these products; however, it is highly recommended that those who are pregnant or breastfeeding consult their GP or healthcare advisor before using Sonsie skincare - just to be sure.

What items have you tried?

I have tried the Cleansing Mousse and the Super Serum.

Tell us more about the Sonsie Cleansing Mousse.

This award-winning *Cleansing Mousse has a formula which is loaded with skin-soothing and protective ingredients to help gently cleanse the skin without leaving it feeling dry afterwards. My skin absorbs the mousse well, and my face feels like it's had a really nourishing cleanse after use. I use this mousse in my nighttime skincare routine for my first round of cleansing.

It's unscented, which is great for those with sensitive skin. There is a (very) subtle hint of rose, but nothing that would aggravate the skin.

This cleansing mousse does exactly what it says on the bottle, no complaints from me! However, it's an expensive cleanser at £32 a bottle, but I know it will last a long time as I only need one pump of mousse at night.

Tell us more about the Sonsie Super Serum.

The *Super Serum is lightweight, but has a rich consistency for a serum. It is unscented, and it glides effortlessly onto the skin. It took a good few uses of the serum to notice the glow it claims to give the skin. It's meant to be used twice a day, but I just use this serum in my nighttime routine, and it works its magic just as well.

One little criticism I have is the dropper dispenser. Due to its viscosity, it's a little messy, and I find even with the dropper full, you get minimal product and have to put the dropper back in the bottle, fill it up again and repeat. However, it doesn't put me off, as the serum is a very good, luxurious-like consistency and works well on my skin.

For the price of £63, it's not a serum I would purchase as it is very costly and other serums out there do just as good a job.

Weighing everything up, would you recommend Sonsie skincare?

I love Sonsie's ethos, and I agree that beauty should come from within, and their skincare products really reflect that. I love the minimalistic design of the packaging; it's so sleek and aesthetically pleasing to the eye!

This brand shows a lot of promise and has proved to be an eco-conscious option, and it's wonderful when a skincare brand is not only sustainable, but vegan and cruelty-free also.

The pricing will be a drawback and a little off-putting for some, so it's been good for me to try this brand's skincare. I will continue to use each of these items until they run out, but I'm not sure if I would purchase them for myself due to the cost.

Pamela and Marie have created a wonderful, sustainably-friendly, eco-conscious brand. I look forward to seeing what skincare products Sonsie releases next!
