Little Improvements I Want To Make

I'm a believer in continuous improvement. I believe that there is always room to make little fine tunings in my daily life. It could be something as simple as adding an extra task to my routine, remembering to put the recycling out, reading more or cleaning my makeup brushes more often (a very tedious task).

Now, I'm not saying completely overhaul your life because it needs a mega DIY SOS renovation, but maybe there is something you would like to improve in your life, maybe make a little change which may benefit yourself. It doesn't have to be a deadly serious choice, like deciding whether to be buried or cremated. Ok, that is a bit morbid, I apologise. But you get my drift, it could be something like spending less money on clothes, practicing self care or going for a walk every day.

Little Improvements I Want To Make

The improvements I want to make in my life aren't really major life changes. They're just little, teeny, minor alterations I want to make to better myself. I'm not saying I don't love myself for who I am now, but there's always room for changes.

Here are the little, random improvements I want to make in my life -

1) DO  100  SQUATS  A  DAY
________________________________
I'm not going so far to say that I want an arse like Kim K. I don't want to be able to balance a champagne glass on my butt cheeks. You know, I just fancy my bum to be a bit more perkier and have a little bit more of a bounce. I started this one in the New Year and I've only missed two days worth of squats. I will believe that I will have an arse that won't quit by the end of 2020. Let's get rid of that sag!

2) BETTER  MY  HANDWRITING
_______________________________
You know what doctor's handwriting looks like? You know, it looks like a cat has scribbled on the page? Yep, that's my handwriting. I'm not joking you now, I've written the same way since I was SEVEN YEARS OLD. Ok, it has changed a little over time, but I would love to have neater handwriting. I wonder if there any calligraphy classes in South Wales?

3) CUT  OUT  CHOCOLATE
________________________________
You would think that being a diabetic I would have made this change a hell of a long time ago! But (sadly) no. I kept chomping at the Milkybars over the years when I know I shouldn't really be doing that. However, I've decided to mega adult and make the hugest decision I've made in terms of my diet and cut out the chocolate completely. I can honestly tell you this wasn't a conscious decision, it just kind of happened. I haven't eaten any sort of chocolate since Christmas Day 2019. This little improvement I'm quite proud of.

4) WRITE  A  TO  DO  LIST  EVERYDAY
________________________________
I'll confess - I'm a procrastinator. A major procrastinator. I'm as procrastinating as they get. Yet, to do lists have become a life saver for me. I literally have become less-procrastinating since making to do lists everyday. There is a great satisfaction when I'm sat on my bed at the end of the day, grabbing my pen and ticking off the tasks I've needed to complete for the day that has just been and gone. This little improvement has changed my daily life massively. In a good way of course.

5) READ  MORE
________________________________
Reading gives us a place to go when we have to stay where we are. I've always adored reading. Regrettably, I go through phases in terms of reading. In a period, I can go through 5 books within a fortnight, but then in another period, I can go without picking up a book for weeks/months. I'm aiming to keep reading this year, it's something I really want to do because I love reading too much to let it go.

6) SPEND  MONEY  ON  THE  THINGS  THAT  MATTER
_________________________________
I need to stop spending 3/4 of my wages on clothes. Even though I have cut right back on my spending anyway, I still feel I could improve on that more. I want to be more sustainable when it comes to clothes, re-use more of my clothing items again and again. I've easily done that with shoes as only wear my Nike trainers (other trainer brands are available) or my black boots. And handbags. I barely buy a new handbag. I'm aiming to spend more money on something that will help me make memories eg travelling, spa days etc. I'd rather make memories than make more space in my wardrobe.

See, the improvements I want to make aren't life changing. Just small refinements. Whether I'll succeed in any of them remains to be seen!

  4. I wrote a to do list everyday, and they're so so helpful with getting stuff done and not procrastinating, because I know what I need to get on with! I'd also love to squeeze more time in for reading but during the semester it gets so busy, I'll have to try a bit harder.

    1. Absolutely Ellie! I usually read when I'm in bed at night, it's the only time of day I can squeeze in a chapter or two!

  10. These are some great little life changes to take on - I admire your willpower on the chocolate thing especially I'm not sure I could manage that 😂 for me it's drinking more water especially and also to exercise more - although I've currently got a sprained wrist so I've had to put it on the back burner for now! Xx
