People/Things I'm Thankful For

"A thankful heart is a happy heart"

I'm a great believer in showing gratitude at any given moment. From thanking someone for holding the door open for you to being grateful to someone for going to a nerve-wracking hospital appointment with you, there's always something to be thankful for.

People/Things I'm Thankful For

Good manners cost nothing. They're free. There's no additional tax added on. It costs nothing to say thank you. People who don't say thank you when you do something are arseholes. Yep, I said it, arseholes. I could say worse, but I want to keep the small group of readers I have, so we won't up the ante in terms of bad language.

Being thankful doesn't have to just be saying thank you to someone, you could be thankful for something eg family, friends, pets, prawn cocktail crisps etc. The quote I wrote at the start of the post is something I truly believe in. Being thankful for something or someone in your life makes you appreciate things more.

People/Things I'm Thankful For

There are so many things that I am grateful for. Things that give me happiness and some things I can't live without (in no particular order) -

1) LIFE
_______________________________________

I'm still alive, so I am grateful that my life still exists and that I'm here living it. I'm eager and excited to see what path my life takes and I really hope that it's only going to get better! Currently I feel more settled with my life, but I'm keen to challenge myself more and have life changing experiences!

2) HEALTH
_______________________________________

This may seem like an unusual thing to seem thankful for, well, given me having Cystic Fibrosis, it does sound slightly strange. Currently, I'm in such a rich vein of form health-wise and also having CF has allowed me to talk to people with CF through Twitter & Facebook. Due to cross infection rules, it's not possible to meet in close proximity. So yes, I'm thankful to my health for that reason.

3) FAMILY
______________________________________

I'm lucky to have a good family. My Mam is my rock, my constant support, the jokester, the shoulder to cry on and my banter bestie. They say family means everything - they're absolutely right.

4) FRIENDS
_____________________________________

Oh yes, my besties. The ones I get tipsy with, the ones who I share some of my greatest memories with and the ones that make me laugh until I wee a little. Too much info? Anyway, without my girls, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Thank you for everything.

5) LIVERPOOL  FOOTBALL  CLUB
____________________________________

My goodness me, this football club is special. I'm so grateful to them for giving me such happiness and joy. Also some heart palpitating moments. They send my blood pressure through the roof quite often, but I'm thankful to support such an amazing and historic football club. You'll Never Walk Alone!

6) BLOGGING
_____________________________________

I created this little space on the internet a little over three years ago and I'm so happy that I had the guts to hit the publish button on my first post! I have a small number of blogging friends that I have made and met through this hobby/industry. Blogging has led me down paths I never thought I'd walk down, given me new opportunities I never knew existed and just generally made me smile.

7) THE  NHS
_____________________________________

Let's face it, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the NHS. The nurses, doctors, surgeons, the canteen ladies/gentlemen who have served me food, even the play specialists when I was younger - have kept my body ticking over, have been there when I need them and have taken such excellent care of me. The NHS isn't valued by some, but it always will be valued by me. They keep me alive everyday, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

They are the biggest things/people that I'm thankful for, but I'm not just thankful for the big things, I'm thankful for the littlest things, things such as Nessa (my beautiful cat), green tea, a topless Jamie Dornan, Goldcliff (a place in Newport), Gregg's ham and cheese baguettes - the list is endless! If I carried on with the list, I'd be here until March - and I have things to do.

  1. Great post Lucy! It's so important to reflect on everything and give thanks to the people and things around us that have impacted us positively - sometimes even negatively as well as they're great ways to learn! :) x

  6. This is such a lovely post! I'm thankful for a lot of the things you are, my little furry friend, human friends, family and my blog. And as a diabetic who probably couldn't afford the insulin if it came down to it...yep, NHS is up there too x

  7. This is such a wonderful post -- being kind and having manners is absolutely free. I work in customer service and it is wild how rude people can be. There are so many times that I have people yelling at me over something that was completely out of my control or for something that they caused.

  12. That is such a good gratitude list. I think when you experience difficulty in life, you become less materialistic and more appreciative of the people in it. 💜
