Blog Reads of September

I'm writing this the day after the start of Autumn and I'm all ready for jumpers, scarves, hot chocolates, crunchy leaves, Halloween and Bonfire Night.

I've given in and finally worn my first jumper since March and I'm quite happy about that to be honest. I'm ready to welcome Autumn with open arms and embrace it in all it's leafy beauty.

Anyway, the end of September not only means the start of October is upon us, but in the blogging world it means I'm summing up my favourite blog posts of this month. This is still one of my favourite posts to write every month, it gives me the chance to showcase other blogger's amazing content that may not have got the clicks it deserved.

Let's press on then, here are my favourite blog posts from September:

Blog Reads of September

1) The Truth Behind Fashion Blogging on Instagram | Beth Sandland
This girl is already killing it on her Instagram with all her travel photo's which are beyond stunning. I loved reading this post from Beth. I've done fashion posts in the past, but I wouldn't really class myself as a fashion blogger. Like Beth, I adore buying clothes and fashion and have done it ever since I could remember. But there is an added pressure to keep on top of the trends and sometimes it just isn't feasible to keep up with the latest looks from the London Fashion Week. However, Beth is right when she says that is part of our job, wearing THE dress so people will like our content and be influenced into buying it. However, I'm not ashamed to post the same outfit more than once on Insta. Sadly, fast fashion is still a thing, a thing which is not helpful for our environment. A brilliant post from Beth.

2) Some Thoughts on Change and Worrying Less | Jodie Melissa
People who know me well enough know that I am a massive worrier. I worry if I'm not worrying about anything. One of the many things I loved what Jodie said in this post is how you become in denial about holding yourself back. I always worry about big changes that are incoming and I become worried about having to make changes in my life which may unsettle it. It's like going into a tunnel with no light at the end of it. A great post from Jodie.

Let's face it, some people do get a kick out of being vile and making nasty remarks to others. Amie's experience when she visited Brighton sounds so belittling. Having people make comments about her personal appearance is just beyond vile. I would have seriously gone mental if I thought people talked about me in public like that! I love Amie's response to this so called people, just do your thing and don't let others bring you down. As Amie says "In the words of Thumper, if you can't say nothing nice, then don't say it at all" A wise old rabbit Thumper was.

4) Let's Talk About: Being A Girl At The Gym | Abigail Talks About
I remember my first session at the gym. Feeling incredibly nervous, I was already sweating before I had even set foot on an exercise bike. Like Abigail, I had good intentions of going quite a few days of the week. Honestly, I did do that! Nowadays, it's once or twice a week at most, which is sad, but I've kind of lost confidence in going to the gym. You can't help but compare yourself to others when you're at the gym sometimes, but it's important not to focus on shaping your booty to look great in skinny jeans. All the feelings that Abigail experiences in going to the gym are the same feelings I feel too, a great post!

5) Why I Couldn't Care Less About The Instagram Algorithm | Blush & Noise
Honestly, before Instagram brought an algorithm into their app, I never even heard of the bloody word. Now it's one of my most hated words in the last two years or so. It's still constantly being mentioned and tweeted about on social media. However, I absolutely love Abigail's attitude to the whole algorithm malarkey. Abigail reminisces about the days where 11 likes was all we needed to be happy and content with whatever photo we posted. Nowadays, if we don't get at least 50-100 likes, we become disheartened and pissed off at Insta's algorithm for not showing our photo to our followers. Abigail's says the algorithm does make sense - and she's right. Read her post to find out why.

  5. I love the idea of sharing others content like this. Every day, I read content from other bloggers that stops me dead, they give me all the feels, or they make me laugh out loud or answer a question I didn't know I had and I often feel like shouting to everyone 'STOP - You gotta read this!'

  8. Thank you for these suggestions! I'll definitely be checking out the ones I haven't already read. Particularly interested in the Instagram one! I've never cared about the algorithm because I've never put too much emphasis on Instagram. But since I've started using it more and using it how I want to - my engagement and likes have been great!
