Firstly, LED Light Therapy - what is it?
LED light therapy (AKA Red Light Therapy) is a non-invasive treatment that helps to promote the skin's collagen, even the skin's tone and brighten the skin.
When we're talking about LED Light Therapy and haircare, this treatment aims to stimulate the hair follicle for visibly thicker hair, improve the scalp and its hydration, reduce inflammation and oil and increase hair growth rate.
Secondly, who is CurrentBody?
CurrentBody is a brand that has completely revolutionised skincare routines since they were founded over 15 years ago. The brand has collaborated with doctors, world-renowned dermatologists and aestheticians to ensure the safety of its products and ensure that each product works at its best.
Tell us more about the CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet!
This hair growth device is a red light therapy device that aims to increase hair growth and thickness by 123% in 12 weeks.
The LED Hair Growth Helmet is powered by a spectrum of red lights (620-660nm). These wavelengths have been clinically proven to energise hair follicles, reduce inflammation, improve scalp health and, most importantly, lower dihydrotestosterone levels. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone that can cause hair loss and shrink hair follicles.
The CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet aims to improve thickness, density and fullness within its daily 10-minute treatment.
Who is the CurrentBody LED Hair Growth device for?
This device is suitable for both men and women. While male hair loss is more commonly discussed in the media, female hair loss is also a hot topic. Female hair loss particularly affects those who are pre-menopausal and suffering from post-partum hair loss, etc.
This device is perfect for combating those with a receding hairline, thinning hair and hair loss on the crown of the head.
What comes in the box?
The box contents include:
How do you use the CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet?
It's the simplest of devices to use:
1) Conduct a sensitivity test (instructions for that are in the user manual; do this even if you've used LED devices before.
2) Ensure your hair is clean, product-free and dry before starting.
3) Take a 'before' photo before you start your first treatment. Then you can see your hair's progress as the days and weeks go on!
4) Place the device on your head and adjust the headphones for comfort.
5) Turn on your device and connect it to Bluetooth.
6) Kick back and relax, and let the device work its magic for 10 minutes. The device will switch itself off after 10 minutes.
7) Clean the device with a microfibre or damp cloth. Do not use any chemicals to clean the device.
To charge the device, simply plug the USB-C cable into the side of the helmet, and there will be a white light flashing near the charging port while charging. A solid white light means it's fully charged. From my experience, a full charge takes about 1-2 hours, and it will last around 6-7 days between uses.
The light on the side of the helmet will flash white when it needs charging.
Oh, did I mention some of the coolest features of the Hair Growth Helmet?!
Yes, this helmet has built-in headphones. Simply connect the device to Bluetooth, and you can listen to your favourite playlist or podcast for 10 minutes while the device works its magic. I listen to my playlist while pottering around the house, doing things like washing the dishes or watching a few TikToks.
Another cool feature of this helmet is that it has a timer on the side of the device. You can't see it when wearing the device, but you can look in the mirror and see how much treatment time is left.
Does the device hurt while using?
Absolutely not! This device is completely pain-free and FDA-approved, which means it's completely safe to use.
Does the Hair Growth Helmet come in different sizes?
The device comes in sizes 'Small' and 'Medium'. To measure, simply grab a tape measure and wrap it around your head and above your ears (around 1cm above the eyebrows) to find out your head size.
Small - 54cm - 58.9cm.
Medium 59cm - 63.5cm.
How much does the device cost?
The helmet costs £650.
How long will it take until I see results?
As long as you're consistent with your treatment and do this 10 minutes daily, you should start to see results within 6-8 weeks (depending on your hair growth cycle). The recommended treatment plan is 16 weeks to see the full benefit of this LED hair growth device.
How is LED hair regrowth treatment different from Laser hair regrowth treatment?
While both technologies use light coverage to stimulate cells, increase blood flow and scalp circulation and offer similar technologies, they both have distinct differences.
Laser hair therapy uses a single wavelength to focus a narrow beam of light directly to the scalp, treating only a small area. LED hair therapy uses more wavelengths to treat larger surfaces of the scalp. This results in the LED light having more coverage and activating a higher number of hair follicles per cm².
Have you seen results since using the CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet?
I have certainly seen a marked improvement in my hair's thickness! See the results for yourself in these graphics:
1) Top of Head/Scalp
In terms of the progress from the scalp/top of the head, there's a noticeable difference near the forehead in that it looks thicker and fuller. As the majority of the LED lights are positioned on top of the head, it has worked their magic within this area.
The photos speak for themselves. The huge improvement in the thickness and growth in my hair on my left temple is nothing short of miraculous. My temples are the areas that have always shown thinness and even slight bald patches. I can't believe the difference within 12 weeks of using the Hair Growth Helmet.
3) Right Temple
Again, the photos speak a thousand words. As I said, my temples have been problematic in terms of lack of hair and sparseness. The progress from before treatment to 12 weeks of treatment is marvellous. I feel more confident and comfortable having my hair up without looking like I have bald patches on my temples.
Would you recommend the CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet?
I really would recommend this product! As you can see in the above progress photos, there has been a huge improvement in the overall growth and thickness of the areas that were thin and a little sparse. It's hard to believe that wearing an LED lighted helmet can make your hair grow and become and feel thicker over a 12-week period.
The key to getting the results is consistency. You MUST do the 10-minute treatment daily in order to see results. I think I've only missed one day of this because I had a sick day, and I didn't have the energy to do anything! I know some struggle to stick to a new habit or may forget to do the treatment, but even if you do it before going to sleep at night, it'll be worth it, I promise!
Some will look at the price and think - "Whoa". However, if you think about the amount it would cost to have hair laser treatment, this is a worthy investment to get thicker hair without leaving your home.
It is a bulky device, so find a good space to store the helmet. I like to keep mine in the box it came in as it comes with a stand inside the box to put the helmet on.
One teeny, tiny critique I have is that unless you look in the mirror when wearing the device, I couldn't tell when my device needed charging. As I stated, the white light will flash on the side of the helmet, which indicates the helmet needs charging. One way I beat that was scrolling through my phone while wearing the helmet, and I could see the reflection of the helmet on my phone screen. This meant I could see the white light flashing if the helmet needed charging. Like I say, one teeny critique, because overall, I am incredibly impressed with the hair growth helmet and would recommend it to anyone who suffers from thinning hair.

You can really notice the difference in your before and after photos, especially on the sides. I could definitely do with purchasing this. My postpartum hair loss is crazy at the moment.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin had her baby 5 months ago and she's really struggling with postpartum hair. I can imagine the frustration of it x
DeleteOh wow!!! What an amazing helmet. Me need to get me one of these. Plus, it's super stylish too.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to get yourself one of these Fadima!
DeleteI love the sound of this! You can really see the difference in your before and after photos. I’ve been struggling with hair thinning the last couple of months and it’s making me feel quite low. However I’m not sure if it’s stress-induced, new medication related or if it’s because I have a folate deficiency. It’s a bit of a guessing game. Hopefully it thickens up soon with the help of a few hair growth products and folic acid supplements. If not then I will definitely consider the CurrentBody Hair Growth Helmet x

It's such a confidence drainer when your hair starts thinning. I hope you can determine the cause for it soon Kirsty. I hope the hair growth products and folic supplements help with the hair growth. If not, you definitely need to think about investing in one of these helmets! x
DeleteI really liked how you explained the difference between LED and laser treatments. The before-and-after photos make it really convincing, and I appreciate the honest note about remembering to charge it. Definitely makes me consider trying something like this for my own thinning spots.
ReplyDeleteAs you can see in the before, during and after photos, there has been a massive improvement in my hair since using this helmet. I hope you consider buying this device for yourself in the future Melody!
DeleteWow this sounds truly promising. I have been thinking of trying red light therapy.

I'm sure you would love this Allie! Red Light therapy is truly fantastic for the skin and hair x
DeleteIt is quite fascinating to me how light can stimulate healthy hair growth, and the before and after shows it's legit!
ReplyDeleteI know that I'd need to set reminders to charge it once I figured out how long the battery tends to last, but this seems like a great self-care product to care for your hair while you do other things, and even listen to music on it!
https://stridefully.com
It's definitely legit Katherine! The before, during and after progress photos definitely prove that! It is like a form of self-care and I love how much it's improved the thickness of my hair. I love the feature of being able to listen to music during treatment time!
