MoliCare Lady Absorbent Underwear: A Review of the Period Pants

*This post is a paid AD with MoliCare. Please see the end of the post for more details.

I've been using period pants for menstruation for a few years now, there's no way I'll go back to pads! Period pants are so much more comfortable, convenient and more climate-friendly. I would always recommend any woman to try period pants, even if it's just once. Whenever a brand asks me to review their period pants, I am always willing to do so as I'm eager to try different brands and see what they offer. This time, I am trying MoliCare's Lady Absorbent Underwear through Hartmann Direct.

Let's talk about period pants first -

What are period pants?

Period pants are pants designed to be worn during a woman's menstruation. They are made of absorbent materials to help absorb period blood. They are designed to look like conventional underwear, so they don't look too dissimilar to normal underwear.

What are the benefits of period pants?

There are plenty of benefits to buying and using period pants during menstruation. These include:

  • Comfort - they are breathable because they're made of soft, breathable fabrics. Also, they are non-bulky, which makes them really comfortable to wear. Plus, there are no adhesives, wings or strings to be mindful of, which means more freedom of movement and less irritation.
  • Leak protection - period pants are made of absorbent materials which contain blood from menstruation. No having to worry about changing a pad or tampon every few hours! They also keep you feeling dry and fresh.
  • Environmentally friendly - they're reusable, which means they will last years and reduce landfill waste because you're not using pads or tampons. Most period pants are made from organic materials.
  • Cost-effective - it will save you hundreds of pounds every year from not buying disposable products.

Now let's talk about MoliCare Lady Absorbent Underwear.

Firstly, who are MoliCare and Hartmann?

Hartmann, which is the home of MoliCare, is a brand founded in 1818 in Germany. The company started off by making advanced bandages for wounds.

Since 1997, MoliCare has made incontinence pants and period underwear for those who need it most. They aim to create comfortable and skin-friendly underwear for both men and women. MoliCare aims to break the taboo of incontinence by educating and motivating people to strike up a conversation about this subject.

What item did you receive from MoliCare and Hartmann?

I received the MoliCare Lady Absorbent Underwear. The cost of this underwear is £19.99.

Can you give more details about the underwear?

So, the seamless design of the underwear ensures discreet and reliable leakproof protection for both periods and light bladder weakness. The multilayer absorption zone quickly and safely locks away any moisture while the barrier layer prevents unwanted leakages.

The pants are free from silver chloride and any other biocides. These pants also do not have any adverse effect on the vaginal flora and no negative impact on the environment.

MoliCare ensures dermatological testing and is Oeko-Tex 100 certified.

How do you wash MoliCare absorbent underwear?

Before the first use of these pants, wash them at 60 degrees. After wearing them, rinse them with cold water before putting them in the washing machine. Do not use fabric softeners when washing these. You can tumble dry these on low heat should you need to.

What is your review of MoliCare underwear?

Let's delve into my review of the absorbent period pants:

Comfort
These pants are extremely comfortable! They don't feel bulky and are fine to wear under leggings or skinny jeans. I like that these look like normal underwear and they don't look like period pants while wearing.

Absorption
These pants are designed to absorb as much as 4 tampons worth (around 80ml), which is great for anyone who gets heavy periods during menstruation. I like that I still feel dry in them after wearing them during the first or second day of my period.

Price
The price of these is £19.99. The price may seem a little steep for some, but when you think of the amount of money you spend on disposable products every month, it's a no-brainer in terms of how much money you save every month by buying these.

Sizing
One critique I have is the sizing limit of these. They come in two sizes - medium (10-12) and large (14-16). I hope that MoliCare adds more sizes to their range.

Other points
One aspect I love is that these pants can be tumble-dried. More often than not, most period pant brands insist that you cannot tumble dry their pants due to the heat potentially ruining the meshing. Fair enough! But I like that with these from MoliCare, I can throw them in the tumble dryer if need be rather than air dry them.

Would you recommend MoliCare Lady Absorbent Underwear?

Yes, I would! The quality of the underwear is fantastic and they're very comfortable to wear! The only negative I have is the sizing options, which I hope MoliCare will correct in the future!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this review!

  8. I've never tried period pants purely for the fact I thought you had to throw them away after every use. So refreshing to see that you can wash and reuse these ones.
Might pick myself up a pair and see what all the fuss is about!

  10. These period pants sound great. I love they are reusable and thus a great sustainable solution. Menstruation cups are also sustainable, but I couldn't bring myself to even try them. This is much simple to use. The price is affordable, all things considering.

    1. Period pants are more sustainable than the disposable period products. I don't use menstruation cups as I'm wary of it getting stuck! I think when it comes to the price, as they're reusable, you'd save more money buying period pants than disposable period procucts x
