Why My Fourth Year Of Blogging Has Been My Best Yet!

It's the beginning of November which means that I am now celebrating my fourth year of blogging! Around this time four years ago, I hit the 'Publish' button for my first post (soz, I haven't got the link for that) and I sat there nervous at what people's reactions were going to be!

Since I wrote my last bloggerversary post, so much has happened. This time last year, Coronavirus didn't exist. TikTok was barely used. Shielding and lockdown were about to become everyday words in our vocabulary, tiers were things you'd only find on a wedding cake.

Anyway, let's focus on my last year of blogging. Like the title says -

It's been the best blogging year yet!

I've enjoyed blogging so much this year. I think near the end of 2019, I kind of lost my way in blogging, my writing had become a bit bleh and I felt like I was running out of ideas. I made it my objective to focus on my blog in 2020 and I'm so glad I did. When lockdown began in March, I had to shield for a number of weeks and being home all that time made me focus on my blog so much. I was able to churn out so much content, get more organised and just completely fall in love with it all over again.

It's fair to say that I have assessed this year of blogging as my best yet, but here are a few other reasons why I think it's been amazing! -

BEEN  MORE  PRODUCTIVE
__________
I made it my aim to write more to do lists in order to get tasks done. I was always doubtful about to do lists as to whether they really did help you get things done. I can safely say now that I adore to do lists and would be lost without them! I've definitely been more productive this year with blogging and have managed to get even the most menial of tasks done eg broken link checking. I'm hoping this productive streak will continue, talking of streaks...

BEEN  MORE  CREATIVE
__________
This is one streak I hope will carry on for a while also! I think this spell of creativity came when I bought a new camera at the start of this year and the creativity juices just seemed to flow more generously than previous years. Before this, my creativity juices didn't flow, they trickled. Being creative does help me to love blogging and it makes my blogging life a whole lot easier. Also researching Pinterest and Unsplash for photo inspo for hours on end has helped with my creativity.

FALLEN  IN  LOVE  WITH  IT  AGAIN
_________
I feel a lot more dedicated to my blog than I ever have been. I think lockdown was a blessing in disguise in terms of my blog. Like I said earlier, I was able to put more effort and centre my attention on it. Doing that made me fall in love with it all over again. I'm not saying lockdowns are something I want to happen all the time, but you know.

HAD  MORE  TIME  TO  FOCUS  ON  IT
__________
Like I said previously, the fact that I have had more time to write, shoot photos, focus on SEO, comment on other blogger's blogs and reply to comments on my own blog has really helped me improve my blog and support others too.

MORE  OPPORTUNITIES  WERE  THROWN  MY  WAY
__________
This is the year where I seemed to have collabs and opportunities flying into my inbox. I'm always extremely grateful for any opportunity or collaboration I get asked to do. It makes me feel like all the hard work of creating content is paying off. Seeing a new email land in my inbox don't half brighten my day!

GOT  MYSELF  ORGANISED  DIDN'T  I?!
__________
Is this what it feels to be Monica Gellar? I've never been so organised in blogging in my whole life. I used to leave doing tasks up until the last minute, then sweat my way threw them when I knew I absolute needed to get them done. Since writing to do lists, I don't seem to put myself in that panicky situation anymore. I get myself organised, I even plan my weekly schedule on a Sunday night. This was something I never thought I would do. I used to focus all my energy on not thinking about the weekend being almost over. Now I look forward to Sunday evenings to get my weekly schedule sorted. Who even am I?

So, what does the next year of blogging hold for me? God knows. I hope by the time I'm writing this sort of post again for my fifth year blogging anniversary, the pandemic will be a long distant memory and the words shielding and lockdown will not be a part of our vocabulary ever again.

I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last year. All the comments, likes, shares, retweets, tags, pins and mentions - they never go unnoticed. I'm so grateful for everyone taking the time to read my little space online. Your ongoing support always brightens my day and I love you all for that. I hope you will stick with me for another year of content, I promise I will try not to let you down and I hope to produce good enough content for you to stick with Lucy Mary!

  24. Congrats on the 4 years. As long as you are always learning that's the main thing!

Some people have blogs for 4 years but they don't have 4 years experience. They have one years experience 4 times, meaning they learn some basics and then don't want to put the effort in to keep on improving.

I wish you all the best with your future success.
