Three Years of Blogging: What I Have Loved

I've been so swamped with so much life admin and just life in general that I almost forgot that Lucy Mary is three years old!

Yes, I have owned a teeny miniscule of the online world for the past three years and have (hopefully) managed to put my personalised stamp on it. I feel extremely lucky to be doing this as a side hustle, once upon a time it was a hobby.

I started blogging with the aim of just fulfilling my passion of writing from ever since I can remember. The first post I published, I absolutely cacked myself about hitting the 'publish' button! I was so anxious about how people would react to me writing my thoughts for a little bit of the online world to see. As I wrote my first post, I kept thinking, "Who in hell would want to read anything I wrote?!" But I'm so glad I persevered and posted my first blog post. I think it spurred me on to write more.

I have loved so many things about blogging, it's opened new doors and provided me with fresh, exciting opportunities which I never thought would be presented my way. The blogosphere has evolved so much since I started blogging in 2016. Blogging and being an influencer is an can be classed as a genuine career and provide a good income, of course if the hard work is grafted.

Like I said, there are a lot of things I adore about blogging, here's a few -

THE  OPPORTUNITIES
Blogging has given me a lot of chances and I have embraced every chance I have received. The fact that a couple of brands of even considered to collaborate with me makes me feel so happy and in a way flattered. There are so many incredible blogger's out there and the fact they have sometimes chosen me, makes me feel proud and I feel that the hard work is paying off. I have to pinch myself when I see a collaboration opportunity email land in my inbox. It doesn't happen very regularly so I'm grateful for any chance I get!

THE  FRIENDS  I'VE  MADE
Blogging has led me to follow and even meet some amazing and creative people. I have made so many online friends through blogging. The blogging community is a very supportive one and I'm always there for any blogger who needs support, whether it's reading their latest posts, liking their latest Insta posts or commenting on anything they have created. At the end of the day, we're all in the same boat, we want to strive to be our best and just show our own uniqueness in the blogging world. Like I said, I have talked to and made some wonderful friends which I will always be grateful for.

BLOGGING  EVENTS
Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think I would be invited to blogging events. Blogger events are a fantastic way of meeting local blogger's in your area and speaking to and learning from like minded people. I know some blogger's find events overwhelming and sometimes social anxiety can come into play at the most inopportune time. I felt the same way when I attended my first event back in January this year. I was very nervous about meeting people, very wary of whether I would come across well or wonder why I was taking Creon before my avocado on toast (standard blogger event brunch meal) but I left my first blogging event that day with my confidence booming and wanting to attend more. The first one is always hardest (now now) but it's honestly worth it.

I'VE  FOUND  MY  CREATIVE  SIDE
Listen, I can barely draw people let alone be as creative as blogging has made me be. I have had to learn so many creative skills since I started blogging. From writing in itself, to photography, to editing and even getting my grammar sorted out. I do love coming up with new concepts and ideas and blogging has helped my mind develop and think in a new, exciting way. Being able to apply my creative ideas with barely no restrictions has been incredibly freeing and it's the one aspect of blogging I have grown to love. Before blogging, I didn't think there was a creative bone in my body, it's taken time, but thankfully now there is.

SHARING
I have finally started to love sharing my work on different platforms. I always seemed to be nervous when I posted anything new, I was sometimes scared of what people would think or whether they would like what I posted. But I will post whatever the hell I want and I shouldn't worry about what others think. I like to post about topics which people still seem to shy away from talking about. I like to share my opinion and see how many others will agree with me. I love the thought of knowing that someone has clicked on the link for my website and read the work I have created and taken some time to develop and create. It really makes me smile!

MY  OWN  PERSONAL  DEVELOPMENT
Blogging has allowed me to grow in so many aspects - creatively, mentally and emotionally. I have developed so many new skills that I never thought I would be good at. It's so good to gain new skills as it helps me in so many areas of my life. My career, my personal development, my blogging and just my general wellbeing. Blogging has opened so many doors for me and I'm so thankful to blogging for that.

So, where do I see Lucy Mary in a years time? Something even bigger and better than right now. But who knows, I'm not Mystic Meg, I unfortunately don't have a crystal ball. Let's crack on with another 12 months of posts and sweating over getting them written and posted!

  10. Congratulations on three years! You've grown so much in terms of content, and as a person it seems. I love posts like this that reflect on day 1. Sometimes on a crappy view day it's easy to forget that once upon a time you were squealing with excitement because your first post had 10 views. This was a lovely read x
