Celebrating Your Achievements

I would say that there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. That fine line is called humility. However, the two words should not be confused with.

I'm one of those people who doesn't really share their achievements very much as I'm wary of coming across as arrogant and blowing my own trumpet. I'm all for celebrating everybody else's success bar my own, which is not on.

I kind of congratulate myself behind the screen by giving myself a high five and reward my accomplishment with a glass of rose or vodka and cranberry juice, as you do.

One achievement I shared with recently on Instagram was one I was sceptical of sharing due to this current moment in time. With everything feeling so negative right now, I felt like it would cause bad feeling sharing something which seems menial to others. However, it meant so much to me.

What's that? The achievement? Ah yes! Two of my blog posts got published in blogging's newest magazine, House 21! It was such a proud moment to see my work in print and it feels so good to see the hard work finally paying off! Thankfully, the post I shared on Insta received praise and congrats and the relief and happiness I felt afterwards was unreal.

This achievement may seem so small to some, but it's huge and gratifying for me. An achievement somebody has gained may seem small and insignificant to you, but it's a big deal to them. Never undermine people's achievements. They don't just have be things like buying a house, getting a new job or writing a book. Achievements can also be on the lines of reaching 2,000 followers on Instagram (which I did recently) or getting the conundrum right on Countdown. Just saying, I got one right the other day within seconds and I thought I was the bee knees.

Celebrating yourself and your accomplishments should be a big part of your life, something which I've finally learnt to do now. It's ok to be happy with what you have achieved. We all have our own success stories, why not celebrate them with yourself and others?

One thing that I am doing is that I'm learning to now appreciate how far I've come, however slow paced it has been. I've come a long way in my life in the last 5 years and I could not be prouder of the position I am in today. Mentally and physically. To me, that's one of my biggest achievements.

Let me know if you have achieved any of your goals lately?! Let's celebrate them!

  8. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I agree with you that there's a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I'm awful at celebrating myself in general because it always seems small in comparison to the last high five moment I saw on my timeline so I really need to try and do better in that department. Huge congratulations on getting published!! That's definitely worth celebrating! x

  10. Lovely post. just like you, I’m always skeptical to celebrate my achievements online because of the fear of jinxing it but I’ve come to realize, it’s actually a good thing to pat yourself at the back and let’s others celebrate you as you do for them. So congrats on your blog post achievement

  20. Well done you, that's brilliant! You should definitely be very proud of even the small wins.
I don't quite agree with confidence being mixed with arrogance, though. It's just our culture that's taught us to keep our own happiness hidden. Hence all the depression. Instead, we NEED to celebrate every single little and big win publicly and encourage everybody else to do it too. People need examples to follow, you know ;) And it should be very easy to tell an arrogant boaster apart from someone who's just genuinely happy and wants to share their happiness.
Keep celebrating your wins and forget what others think :) Those who matter the most will celebrate with you, you'll see.

    1. I didn't say confidence was mixed with arrogance, there is a fine line between them though. Like you said, we have to celebrate our achievements when we get them, but I know a lot of people are too afraid too sometimes! x
