Whether you're a content creator for TikTok or a blogger, the inevitable moment has happened - you feel you're running out of content ideas. If you're sitting there thinking, "Well that hasn't happened to me yet!"
1) You're fortunate
2) It'll happen babe, believe me.
Many people are under the impression that because you create content as a pastime or even a career, you must always be creative. However, sometimes our brains start tiring and start lacking creative thoughts once in a while. Creative and writing blocks are awful. You're trying to squeeze your brain to think of one last little idea, but nothing comes to fruition. It's highly frustrating and deflating as you feel you're letting yourself down. Being devoid of ideas is hard, especially if creativity is a part of your job.
However, there are methods to help you if you're stuck in a rut and want to avoid hitting that brick wall when it comes to creating content. Some may work for you, some may not. I hope these tips I'm going to suggest help you to prevent yourself from running out of content ideas.
Here are the 7 tips for never running out of content ideas:
1) Embrace it
Yes, you heard me. Embrace it. Embrace the silence. Allow your brain to breathe and relax. Stop your brain from tick-tocking for a while. The silence helps your brain to expand and let new ideas filter through. Don't stress too much over it as it'll cause your brian to run out of ideas more quickly.
2) Take a well-needed break
It's impossible to be creative all of the time. Taking a much-needed break may be the answer. I remember when I took a break from blogging a few years ago. It helped my creativity so much and my brain felt fresh and full of new ideas. You can read about that post here. Now, if you're job is centred around being creative, then it may seem impossible to just take a break. If you're concerned, talk to a trusted colleague or friend and be honest. You don't want to force content which you're not 100% happy with.
3) Find a lesson in everything
What I mean by this is that you should be aware of the little that happens during your day. If you see something that you think is valuable for your audience, share it with them. It may help pool some ideas together later on.
4) Ask your audience
It's ok, we haven't stepped into Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. But, if you're a little stuck on what content to produce or you feel you're being repetitive, ask your followers what they would like to see. Sometimes trying something different not only allows you to create a new style of content, but it also allows you to learn what your audience wants to see.
5) Write down your ideas
Sometimes when you're on a creative break, it's good to get any little idea down on paper. It's like sowing the seed for later. The ideas will eventually blossom and flourish into new content ideas.
6) Scroll less
When you're running out of content ideas, scrolling on your phone won't do you any favours. When your creative juices have run dry, scrolling through Instagram and/or TikTok could mean you start becoming too influenced by others. Remember, you don't want to start copying others to get out of a creative rut. Creative content is born out of originality. TikTok dances are the exception. It's good to be inspired, but don't be inspired enough to copy. That won't get the creative juices flowing again.
7) Read
Reading books, magazines or articles online can help with creativity. I've always found that reading items like this can help with new ideas, some I would never think of trying before. It's worth a try! Also, if you're looking to write the perfect blog post, read Eleanor's E-book *'The Art of Blog Writing'. It's the perfect E-book to read while you're stuck in a blogging slump!
Those are my 7 tips for never running out of content ideas!
It's ok if you feel you're running out of content ideas. It happens, it's better to just let nature take its course. I've been there where I've written forced content and posted a blog post I haven't been happy with. Thankfully, I've deleted those posts as I knew they weren't my best work. As I've said, doing all of these tips above can help with never running out of content ideas.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this!
