Skincare devices are my thing. I love trying new skincare devices - if they have huge benefits for me. Whether it's an LED mask, a cleansing device, or a microcurrent device, I love trying new devices to see if they have a positive impact on my skin and help me feel more skin-confident. Now, I have a confession - I'm not a big acne-sufferer. I know I said I only try skin devices that have a beneficial impact on my skin, so I'm kind of being slightly hypocritical. But I do get the odd spot here and there, particularly on my jawline or cheeks. When I do, the ZIIP Dot becomes my best friend.

Like anyone else, when a spot appears, the temptation to squeeze is irresistible. Before getting the *ZIIP Dot, I used to want to squeeze a new spot so badly. For those who don't already know, there are slight repercussions to squeezing a spot, such as a temporary blemish turning into a long-lasting mark and slight hyperpigmentation.

There are many acne treatments, such as salicylic acid, retinoids or even prescribed topical creams/antibiotics. But if you're running out of options, this is the perfect time to look at the ZIIP Dot. I've used it to get rid of spots in the past, and it honestly works wonders.

Firstly, who is ZIIP Beauty?

ZIIP Beauty was founded by Melanie Simon and David Mason. They were the first brand to introduce the app-connected device, the ZIIP GX. Fast forward to today, ZIIP Beauty has produced the ZIIP Dot and the viral ZIIP Halo.

You can read a full, in-depth of the ZIIP Dot I wrote here.

Here are 5 reasons why the ZIIP Dot works for acne:

1) It only takes 90 seconds per treatment

You read that right - it only takes 90 SECONDS to carry out a treatment. What is 90 seconds really? It takes less time for the ZIIP Dot to help vanish acne than it does to brush your teeth for the recommended two minutes.

The ZIIP Dot offers two different treatment modes: a 90-second treatment or a 6-minute treatment. The 90-second treatment goes into 'Treat' mode for 60 seconds to target the blemish. It'll then beep for the final 30 seconds and transfer to 'Calm' mode by calming and soothing the skin. The 90-second treatment is perfect if you're targeting just 1 spot.

The 6-minute treatment is the full face treatment. Long-press the power button to start this treatment mode. In this case, 'Treat' mode lasts for 4 minutes, and the 'Calm' treatment lasts for 2 minutes.

The device comes with a Clear Gel, which you apply around the treatment area before treatment.

2) It's easy to use

Literally, it could not be any simpler to use the ZIIP Dot. When treating one spot, you just need to ensure that the spot is in the centre of the two silver electrodes so it can zap the little invader. You may feel a slight tingling, but it's not at all painful or uncomfortable! Also, ensure you rotate the device clockwise and anticlockwise when in use. Once you do that, it's really a piece of cake!

For those who use the ZIIP Halo, you won't need to access the app to use the ZIIP Dot.

3) It's value for money

When you think of all the creams, patches and other acne treatments there is to spend money on, the ZIIP Dot really is value for money. It's currently priced at £169.99. I know that is a chunk of money to invest in a device like this. But when you think of the amount of acne treatments you spend your money on, this is well worth the investment in the long run.

4) It's portable & travel-friendly

The ZIIP Dot is as light and as travel-friendly as any skincare device you'll see on the market. Imagine this - you're on holiday, and suddenly, as you're applying makeup for your evening out, you see a little red invader on your face. Panic ensues, and you're praying that your concealer can cover it. If you have the ZIIP Dot nearby, a couple of daily treatments later, the spot will be no more.

It's pocket-sized, so it's perfect to take with you for your holidays.

5) It genuinely works

Guys, this doughnut-shaped device works. If you don't believe me, see these before-and-after photos for yourself:

A graphic of before and after photos from using the ZIIP Dot device.

Told you!

In seriousness, this device is a godsend in treating spots and acne. Coming in four different device colours, the ZIIP Dot uses microcurrents (to treat) and nanocurrents (to calm) to zap spots.

These are the other features of the ZIIP Dot:

  • It calms the skin and reduces redness.
  • It reduces blemishes by 44% within 12 weeks.
  • Rebalances the skin's microbiome.
  • Reduces inflamed spots by 62%.
  • Maximises skincare absorption by up to 120%.

So not only does the microcurrent and nanocurrent acne device help eliminate acne, but it has other benefits and features which will help your skin.

I'd totally recommend the ZIIP Dot to anyone who wants help with their acne.

I love the ZIIP Dot and will continue to reach for it should a little unwanted visitor appear. As I've said, it's easy to use, it's travel-friendly, and it genuinely works.

It's time to turn the page from Winter and fully embrace the new chapter of Spring. It's time to get into my Spring character and fully embrace the season. But what character will I be channelling for Spring? Well, Very has been helping me find my character and style story this Spring. With it being the month of World Book Day, there's nothing better than getting stuck into a new book and escaping reality to get entwined with a character's story with a Kindle. After delving into some main character archetypes, I always find myself relating to the character, 'The Minimalist'.

A striped short sleeve cardigan from Very, a pair of brown framed glasses, a white mug of green tea and a Kindle in shade Matcha.

How would a minimalist be described from a fashion POV?

The minimalist is described as the classic 'girl next door.' In fashion, a minimalist relies on elevated basics, clean lines and wears wardrobe staples that can be relied upon every season.

A minimalist is often described as timeless, understated and confident in terms of their style choices.

A minimalist in fashion opts for simplicity and intentionality with their clothing choices. Fashion minimalists believe in quality over quantity when it comes to clothing and prefer the classic pieces to following the trends. Whether it's little black dresses or the perfect pair of versatile jeans, minimalists in fashion will always choose high-quality over low-quality.

When encapsulating their wardrobe, fashion minimalists tend to buy clean, versatile and high-quality items. This kind of clothing creates a more refined, timeless aesthetic, something that can be repeated for years to come. A capsule wardrobe is a key element to minimalism in fashion, and minimalists follow this to a tee.

This outfit from Very screams minimalist as each item will fit into any minimalist's wardrobe. The short sleeved cardigan is great for a smart look as well as a casual look. The black tailored trousers are such a classic item and so versatile. The black patent loafers are the perfect shoe to compliment this whole look!

But what other traits does a fashion minimalist possess?

1) They are intentional and mindful

Minimalists in fashion make conscious choices and will opt for a sustainably-friendly wardrobe over a trend-based one. As I said, minimalists are all for a capsule wardrobe; they will always choose pieces that will serve a purpose for years to come. I would rather buy pieces I can use for every year and can create different looks with. Fewer, better quality pieces are much more valuable than inexpensive, low-quality items.

2) A tidy and organised wardrobe is the way to go

I'm all for tidiness and organisation with my wardrobe. I can't stand cluttered wardrobes. I'll go as far as organising my wardrobe in terms of colour, that's how seriously I take things! I don't think it's being over the top; it's just having that discipline, which is what a fashion minimalist requires.

3) There's an air of quiet confidence about them

A minimalist in fashion doesn't need to heavily rely on trends to stand out in the world; even something as simple as a white tee and trench coat can make them ooze that quiet confidence and groundedness.

4) They have a consistent personal style

I know I prefer to stick to pieces I love rather than buy into trends. A minimalist in fashion can stand out even in the simplest of outfits.

5) They value neutrals but are not overly afraid of patterns

I do love a neutral piece. Neutrals give that sense of sophistication and subtlety that a minimalist craves. A refined look can certainly go a long way. However, the odd-patterned piece, like a striped shirt or cardi, never goes amiss on the odd occasion, especially during the Spring and Summer months.

Minimalists often see fashion as a way to find joy in simplicity.

Minimalists see fashion as a way to express their personality, something I aim to do and what we should all aim to do.

A woman reading a Kindle.

If you couldn't tell already, when it comes to my style, I aspire to be a minimalist. I can totally relate to characters who showcase minimalist personality traits and quirks in books. I always love to find new books with minimalist characters, courtesy of the Kindle. Whether it be Jack Reacher from the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, who was the ultimate minimalist, owning nothing but a toothbrush, or Lucy Snowe in Villette by Charlotte Brontë,  who was restrained, repressed and focused on being her own, quiet way in this world. Minimalist characters are around in books; you've just got to find them!

Having a Kindle allows me to relate to characters with my mannerisms, personality traits and quirks. I love snuggling down in bed or getting comfy on the sofa with a new read. Sometimes when I'm working from home, and I need a five-minute breather, I grab my Kindle and read a chapter of the latest book I'm reading. It's one way for me to delve more into the story and just get lost in another world for a chapter or two.

Reading is a form of escapism.

Reading a book, whether it's on a Kindle or a paperback, reading is the ultimate form of relaxation, and it's so easy to get into.

There's a fascinating link between reading and fashion. Reading about a character that reflects your personality is something to behold. It allows you to relate to a character instantly and reflect your own fashion choices.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this!
