The Dream Home by T.M. Logan: A Book Review

It's been quite a while since I read a thriller, so I was eager to read this one which I lent from a family friend. This is the first T.M. Logan book I've read, so I was excited to see if I would enjoy reading it. T.M. Logan has also written 'The Holiday', '29 Seconds' and 'The Mother'. 'The Dream Home' is Logan's newest release and I couldn't wait to turn the first page.

The book, 'The Dream Home' by T.M. Logan.

Let's set the scene:

Adam and Jess and their three children Leah, Callum and Daisy move into their dream home and neighbourhood. The Victorian house is full of nooks and crannies, including a secret door hidden behind a fitted wardrobe, leading to a secret room.

This room starts to unravel a lot of secrets when Adam finds a Rolex watch, a wallet, an old mobile phone, a scarf, a key and a dog collar. He wonders why someone has taken the trouble to create and hide such a mysterious room hidden away from plain sight. What do all these objects signify and why have they been hidden away?

As events take a dangerous turn, it's mad how discovering a room in a house spells huge danger for Adam and his family. Will Adam be able to save his family and keep them from danger?

What I liked about 'The Dream Home'

Something I especially liked about this book is how the tension stayed throughout the book. Sometimes with thrillers, they can lull a bit halfway through then play out the most suspenseful part at the end. This book had me hooked from the first chapter. What I loved also is that the chapters were quite short, I much prefer reading books with shorter chapters, it keeps my attention.

I liked the book was told from the perspective of the male protagonist. The majority of books I've read this year have been told from the female protagonist's perspective so this made a nice change.

The main characters are very likeable and no one annoyed me. I was suspicious of a few throughout the book, which kept me guessing until the end. I thought I nailed the biggest secret of the book, so I was not expecting the twist at the end!

You could feel the suspense building and Adam's paranoia building throughout the book. I would have become totally paranoid like Adam also.

What I disliked about 'The Dream Home'

There was nothing that I disliked about 'The Dream Home'. I am eager to read more of T.M. Logan's books in the future.

Favourite moment from the book

I can't talk too much about my favourite moment but it's got to be how the book ends and the twist. I can't give any spoilers away!

Would I recommend 'The Dream Home' by T.M. Logan?

Absolutely! It's one of the best thrillers I've read in a while and I really enjoyed the suspense, the twists and turns and secrets being unveiled. As I said, I'm looking forward to reading more of T.M. Logan's books in the future. If you've read any of these author's books, let me know which was your favourite!
