The Best Hotels To Stay In When in Newport, Wales

Something occurred to me a while ago - I never really discuss my home city on my blog very often. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of where I come from and will always try to see the positive in Newport. Newport is a city that many people need to learn more about. Newport is one of two cities worldwide that has a transporter bridge. We held the NATO Summit here in 2014. Barack Obama stayed in Newport for that reason once upon a time. 


One thing Newport definitely has to offer is some great hotels. When researching the best hotels in Newport, I was surprised by how many hidden gems there are where I live! From boutique hotels to unique Airbnb, Newport certainly has a lot to offer when it comes to hotels!

Here are the best hotels to stay in when in Newport, Wales:

1) Celtic Manor Resort

When coming off the M4 motorway westbound towards Newport, this hotel will be the first thing you will see. This beautiful 5-star luxury resort hotel has everything under one roof. From various bars and cafes to the relaxing Forum spa, the Celtic Manor, which opened in 1999, is just a haven for any traveller coming to Newport. The Celtic Manor resort has a famous gold course and also a range of activities including high ropes, archery and adventure golf. There is even more accommodation with the Hunter Lodges, perfect for hen and stag weekends and family weekends. 2) TÅ· Newport

This hotel very recently opened in Newport is the latest addition to the Celtic Collection. This hotel is the largest all-electric hotel in Wales, With its 146 rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, smart meeting rooms and the Ty Casa restaurant, the Ty Hotel is the perfect hotel to stay in if you're attending any conferences or meetings at the ICC near the Celtic Manor resort. Rooms start at £86-£106, including breakfast.

3) West Usk Lighthouse

This beautiful and charming wedding venue has a newly restored and refurbished cabin next to the lighthouse for anyone who fancies a little break by the water. The one-bedroom cabin has a majestic four-poster bed, kitchenette and ensuite with a view overlooking the estuary. It also comes with a private terraced area and hot tub! This place is the perfect place to stay if you fancy a cosy night or two away! The West Usk Lighthouse has been featured in many TV shows, including Doctor Who and My Unique B&B!.

4) The Priory Caerleon

The Priory is located in the historic area of Caerleon, where you can visit the Roman Baths and various eateries. The Priory is a 4-star hotel and restaurant located in the heart of Caerleon. The Priory is rich in Welsh culture, inspired by Spanish heritage. The Priory offers 27 boutique bedrooms, all with individual touches to make each room charming and full of character. 5) Newbridge on Usk

6) Mercure Hotel Newport

Home away from home, the Mercure Hotel Newport is one of the newest and tallest hotels in South Wales. Located right in the heart of the city centre, the Mercure Hotel boasts a rooftop bar with stunning panoramic views of Newport. The hotel has 135 rooms available, all with striking views. A great aspect of this hotel is its accessibility. There are accessible rooms for those who need them. The restaurant also uses local produce, which is great for those small businesses in Newport. The hotel also offers meeting rooms and a gym. 

7) Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel

This hotel, spa and conference centre in the heart of the Welsh countryside is a great way to be amongst nature in 50 stunning acres of landscaped grounds. The Cwrt Bleddyn combines historic charm with modern amenities. The hotel contains a large indoor swimming pool, gym, tennis courts and day spa. Perfect for those who want to keep up with their fitness and relax in the spa afterwards! I was invited to a wedding here 10 years ago and the hotel is stunning and the landscape is just so picturesque.

Unfortunately, I can't write about every single hotel in Newport, otherwise this post would be more like a brochure than a blog post! There are plenty of amazing hotels to choose from and I would actually love to stay in any of these if I needed to!
