Black Mini Skirt: Eight Outfit Ideas & Style Inspiration

A black mini skirt, or any black skirt for that matter, can add that touch of elegance and femininity to any outfit. Whether it be mini, midi or long, a black skirt is such a versatile piece to have hung up in your wardrobe. I think the last time I wore a black mini skirt was when I was in school! I've always wanted to have another one in my adult years. But I always felt unsure as to how to wear one without looking like I am entering sixth form in comp.

What I found when doing a little Pinterest research and scouring through my wardrobe was that a black mini skirt can be worn with so many styles. Whether it be casual, work or an evening look, a black mini skirt is incredibly versatile. 

One good thing is that a skirt of any length or colour can be dressed up or dressed down, no matter the occasion. 

After trying on many different outfits with this black mini skirt from *New Look, I finally narrowed it down to these simple, classic outfits for any occasion. 

Here are my eight outfit ideas for the black mini skirt:

Outfit 1

This outfit is ideal for the start of Spring, through Summer and the end of Summer when you're not sure what to wear in between seasons. This outfit was the first one that came to mind when pairing up this skirt. It's a real simple casual look and I'm all over it. I chose a slogan tee as I think it sets this outfit off. But I plain white tee will work just as well. I paired it with my ASOS sneakers and my Furla crossbody.

Outfit 2

Now, this is the ultimate Autumn look. This one I ummed and arred about if it works. I may need to use another beige jumper to pull this look off properly, but this outfit gives you the gist as to what outfit I'm trying to achieve. This look is the perfect coffee date look or even for work. I am wearing my Amazon black mules and again, my Furla crossbody to accompany the outfit. 

Outfit 3:

If you're looking for an office look, look no further. This is the ideal office look and I just love it! The blouse is from H&M, the chunky loafers are from SHEIN and the bag is from...well, you should know by now. This outfit can be mixed up in that you can wear mules or other flat shoes. Maybe even knee-high boots. A classic white shirt is definitely another way to go with this look too.

Outfit 4: Casual, Work & Night.

See how simple it is to create three different styles by just changing the shoes?! So, the first look is all about the day. An outfit which is great to wear for Autumn and Winter. I have my chunky boots from New Look on with the first outfit.

In the second outfit, I swapped my chunky boots for those SHEIN chunky loafers for another work-style outfit. In the third and final outfit, I have swapped the loafers for some high heel boots for the evening look. Any black heels of your preference will work well with this outfit too! 

Outfit 5:

Who doesn't love a shacket? I bought this a while ago from ASOS and it's just so stylish. I didn't think this would work with the skirt, but it surprisingly does! This outfit is kind of inspired by Maria J on Instagram, her outfits are always on trend and she's one of my biggest outfit inspos!  

Outfit 6:

This look is one I am still a little unsure of, so I would love to know what you guys think of this one! This outfit is a combo of a work look or a casual/day look. This leopard print blouse from Bershka is one I've kept for years as it's one of those tops I'll throw on if I'm stuck for an outfit to wear! 

So these are the outfits I would wear with a black mini skirt! I would definitely say that these outfits can work with any length of skirt. Just takes a little tweaking here and there. Here are some black mini skirts below. Hopefully, this post has given you some outfit inspo!
