Tips To Stay Safe On Staycation

*This post is sponsored. Please see the end of the post for more details.

Everyone is itching to get on the travel websites and book their next holiday or break away. Actually, thinking about it, a lot of people have already booked their first trip away post Covid. But even if we are allowed to book holidays, Covid is still around and it's vital for us to keep ourselves and others safe when we go away anywhere.

What are my staycation plans I hear you ask? I have a (rebooked) trip to Liverpool for August. This trip was meant to happen in March 2020 and I have rebooked it three times since so I'm praying my backside off that it still happens. You just never know anymore, do you?!

Tips To Stay Safe On Staycation

As somebody who has been shielded for such a long time, as have so many others, I hope that others are respectful and thoughtful of the rules to keeping themselves and others around safe. I won't lie, I'll be a little nervous when I take my first trip post Covid. By then though, I should have ventured out a lot more than I have done in the last twelve months and I feel confident in going. For the last year, a trip to the hospital for a port flush is considered a day trip in my life. Says it all really, doesn't it?

Staycations will be the trending holiday break and there's a lot of people who will be looking to booking a trip in the UK. For those who are a little edgy about taking a trip post Covid, here's some tips to stay safe on staycation:

1) CHECK  RESTRICTIONS
___________
Living in Wales, restrictions are a little different here to other parts of the UK. Before travelling anywhere on your staycation, check the restrictions to make sure that it's safe for you to travel to your destination. The last thing you want to do is to put yourself and others at risk!

2) STOCK  UP  ON  MASKS  &  HAND  SANITISER
___________
In case you hadn't noticed already, then face masks are mandatory in most shops or any places that you'll go to. Whatever masks you use, whether they're disposable or reusable, pack plenty of stick in your suitcase! Yes, make sure that you have your trusty masks with you and your hand sanitiser. Even pack a spare bottle of it, a travel sized one. I can't imagine that you'll go through a whole bottle of it during your trip, but you never know! Maybe even pack some gloves if you're a little wary too.

3) SEE  WHAT  YOUR  ACCOMODATION  IS  DOING  TO  KEEP  COVID  SAFE
___________
Before you book to stay in a hotel or Airbnb, check to see what the accommodation is doing to keep its guests Covid safe. If you are unhappy that the place hasn't got the proper safety measures in place, then definitely don't book to go there, even if it's an absolute bargain. Never bargain with your health and safety!

4) DO  WHAT  YOU  FEEL  COMFORTABLE  DOING
___________
Don't feel pressured into going out to places you don't feel comfortable in going. If you feel that the restaurant, pub, bar, coffee shop or tourist attraction doesn't feel safe for you to go to, then don't go there. I know that when I go to Liverpool, I won't go anywhere in the city which I don't consider as safe. Risking your health is NEVER worth it.

5) REMEMBER  SOCIAL  DISTANCING
___________
Yep, social distancing rules still apply wherever you go, so please remember to respect social distancing and keep space between you and the person in front of you. I would sure tell people to keep their distance if they came to close to me, even if they were wearing a mask!

Tips To Stay Safe On Staycation

I could go on and on about other safety measures to take, but I don't want people to read this post and be petrified of going anywhere ever again! As long as you keep yourself and others around you safe, then just enjoy it!

Have you booked or are planning on taking a staycation this year? Let me know!

  1. As much as people say the rules aren't complicated I do think it's a little difficult to get your head around wales, scotland and england! I tried to book something for may bank holiday but it also seems that loads of trains and hotels etc aren't opening up! xx

Maybe they're hanging fire until they get the proper confirmation to open up? xx

  3. I have just booked a week in Wales for the Summer and the act of doing something so normal as booking a holiday gave me the biggest buzz ever!

No I want to book more and more!

This is really great advice and such an important message. We are a long way from over this and now is the time to really focus and keep following the rules or it'll never really go away. And if we are planning on travelling to different areas of the UK we really need to be sure what the restricts and rules are in each place we want to visit x

Absolutely Claire, it's so important to follow rules and make sure that we do all the right things otherwise we'll be stuck in this forever! x

  5. I haven't taken a trip post covid (even a trip to a nearby city) for the past 12 months. I guess, facemasks are the real thing and most important factor to consider that can lower the possibility of transmission in this new normal. I hope I can go on a trip too. Thanks for all these reminders! :)

    Have a great day!

  17. Do what you feel comfortable doing is such a big one! I remember back when the restrictions were briefly lifted last year I would only visit bars and restaurants that I felt comfortable in. Hopefully your trip to Liverpool in August will be able to go ahead! x

  21. I really appreciate the fact that so many businesses are being transparent in terms of the steps that they are taking to keep their customers AND staff safe. I have seen a couple that only addressed the customer and (personally) that just doesn't sit right with me. I want to know that the staff are also being prioritized in light of everything going on in the world!

It's out in the forest, away from large crowds and they seem to have good Covid policies so far. I am still a bit worried but I like the fact they have a covid policy in case we change our minds.
