Why I Eat Breakfast & Breakfast Ideas For You

*There are PR samples in this post. Please read the end of the post for more information.

I was going to write a post about why we should all try and eat breakfast, but I didn't want to dictate to you all why you should. Eating breakfast is a personal preference in my opinion and I know quite a few people who choose not to eat first thing in the morning.

So rather than offering some wisdom and advice, I thought I would give the reasons why I eat breakfast everyday. Ok, that does sound a little self centred.

Ever since I can remember, I've loved eating breakfast. It was and still is my favourite part of my morning routine. I wake up in the mornings and automatically think "Ooh, what shall I have today?!"

Whether it's something quick like cereal or toast, or something fancy like pancakes or something fattening and full of calories like a bacon sandwich or Full English (only if it gets cooked for me!) , you name it, I'll have breakfast of some form!

With CF, it's important for me to have a good, high calorie diet to help fight off infections, so I've had it instilled in me from an early age that breakfast is a good thing. As well as lunch and dinner. Or dinner and tea where I come from.

Anyway, I eat breakfast for a few reasons, and they are -

1) IT  HELPS  MY  BLOOD  SUGARS  STABILISE
____________
Probably one of the main reasons I eat breakfast. As I'm a diabetic, when I wake up in the morning and inject myself with insulin, it's important for me to start the day with a good, hearty breakfast. I always test my blood glucose level first thing in the morning to make sure it hasn't slipped to a low level overnight, if it has, it's important for me to eat something to get the level back up to what it should be. Once I do that, it's time to tuck in!

2) IT  GIVES  ME  THAT  MUCH  NEEDED  ENERGY
____________
I can't focus in the morning without having breakfast first. I can't do a workout on an empty stomach, there's just no way. Eating breakfast gives me that much needed energy after being in a slumber for 8-9 hours. Breakfast instantly gives me that boost in energy which I need to start the day properly!

3) I  WON'T  BE  HUNGRY
____________
It's simple really isn't it? I eat breakfast, I won't have to feel hangry until lunchtime. I hate feeling hungry, I get incredibly angry without food, hence the term, hangry.

4) IT'S  MY  FAVE  MEAL  OF  THE  DAY
____________
I do love eating breakfast, it honestly is my favourite meal of the day. Maybe because it's my first meal of the day, maybe because there are so many options to have for breakfast, who knows?! Speaking of options...

5) THERE'S  SO  MANY  OPTIONS  TO  EAT  FOR  BREAKFAST
_____________
There are so many breakfast options! Literally tens of options! Here are some ideas for you if you are undecided -

Toast (can cause crumbs on the floor)
Eggs on toast
Beans on toast
Avocado on toast
Bananas on toast (trust me)
Toast and boiled eggs (toast cut into soldiers of course!)
Pretty much anything on toast (literally)
Bacon sandwich (YUM)
Full English breakfast (DOUBLE YUM)
Maple syrup pancakes (with Skinny Food Co maple syrup)
Bacon and pancakes (great combo)
Cereal (Shreddies for me)
Weetabix with maple syrup (tastes surprisingly good!)
Smoothies (get your 5 a day in!)
Crumpets
Eggs Benedict
Granola (a new favourite)
Smoothie/acai bowl
Porridge
Toasties (ham and cheese for me)
Croissants (be warned, incredibly messy and crumby to eat)

If you're struggling for ideas on what to have for breakfast, just have save this post for future reference!

*The maple syrup in this post was sent to me as a PR sample from the Skinny Food Co. They are a food company which promote healthy options and produce food suited for people who are diabetic and are vegetarian/vegan. The maple syrup is well suited for diabetics as it contains hardly any sugar and is high in fibre/protein. I was not obliged to write this post. All breakfast and maple syrup views are my own. 5. I love going out for breakfast! I can never be bothered making anything fancy at home for breakfast so I usually just go with a bagel or some cereal. Whenever I treat myself to breakfast at a restaurant my go-to is always veggie breakfast - so good! x

  6. I'm the biggest breakfast foods person but I hate eating on a morning, it makes me feel so sick if I eat early. But breakfast foods are by far my favourite so I do eat breakfast foods but I eat them closer to lunchtime. Pancakes are my favourite breakfast if I can be bothered to make them! x

  7. Although I don't eat breakfast straight away in the morning (I like to move around a little and wait til I actually feel hungry), I could never go without it!! Oh, the mornings when I had to skip it because I was late! Those were usually not the best days :') At least, not until I finally had something to eat. Eating a really good breakfast is such a great way to start off the day; I love the ideas you shared here xx
