Blog Reads of July

I'm writing this during a heatwave, or as I call it, Summer and I won't lie, I'm sweltering. July has been an okayish month, but I've got so many good things planned in August, from trips away to just enjoying the Summer! As always, I've refreshed my Bloglovin' feed every day this month to read some new blog posts. I have had quite a few favourites in July so it took me a while to choose which ones to include in this post! However, these are the ones that made the cut:

Blog Reads of July

1) If My Life Spanned Over A Week, I'm Already On Wednesday, Where Are You? | Sophie Rosie
This is the most thought provoking post I have probably ever read. It kind of hit me for six when I realised that I am also on Wednesday like Sophie is. If our lives spanned over a week, Here's an excerpt from the post to give those an idea who think I'm talking crazy -

"For example, if you’re under 10 years old, you’re on Monday. Between 10 and 20? You’re living in Tuesday. In your twenties? You’re on Wednesday. Aged between 30 and 39? You’re on the Thursday of your life, and so on…"

Jeez aloo, when you think of your life like this, it's pretty damn scary when look at your life and realise that you're on a Wednesday like myself. Sophie gets it bang on with saying that we should all make each day count (and I promise you Soph it doesn't sound cheesy at all!) and we should all consider this - how many times have we woken up wishing the day to be over? How many times in the week during our lunch hours have wanted to the day in work to be done so we can go home? Hmm, maybe we'll have a different take on things when we realise we're on Wednesday or Thursday in our lives...

2) How I Beat My Travel Anxiety | Petite Ellie
I used to be and sometimes am an anxious traveller. However, reading Ellie's post has made me feel like I want to travel here, there and everywhere! Like Ellie has said, you can't get rid of your anxiety after just one short haul flight. You have to build yourself up to it. Anxiety doesn't disappear overnight. From clearing your schedule, flying little and often, travelling light and also reminding yourself why you are going in the first place, you can really help your travel anxiety by reading Ellie's amazing post. I mean, I get anxious going on the train sometimes. I always worry that I've gotten on the wrong one or I've sat and waited on the platform then only to realise seconds before my train is coming that I'm on the wrong one!

I went through a really rough patch back in May/June and I really could have done reading this brilliant post back then. We all go through rough patches in our lives every now and then, it's how you handle them that counts. Kate has suggested reassessing where you're at in your life, focusing on what you do have and also being gentle with yourself, amongst other things. One suggestion that stood out for me was checking in with your loved ones. This is, regrettably, something I don't do when I'm going through a bad time. I'm someone who doesn't like to bother my loved ones as they have enough going on themselves. Like Kate says, even if it's telling your friends in a group chat, it can really help. Definitely something I need to start doing.

4) How Much Does Blogging Really Cost? | Jenny In Neverland
The biggest misconception in terms of non blogger's is that people think we get freebies every single day sent to us and all we have to do is write about it. Not necessarily true. The amount of money blogger's have to spend to keep our websites running, the cost of props, blog templates and equipment such as cameras, tripods etc to taxes, the total comes to A LOT. Jenny has highlighted it all here, blogging is an expensive hobby if you want to take it seriously. It's not all free makeup and hotel stays, we have EARN those things, even if it means coughing up some of our hard earned money to achieve that.

5) 4 Podcasts To Listen To If You're A Blogger | It's Lauren Victoria
I discovered a new found love for podcasts earlier this year and I am always looking for new ones to listen to. Lauren has listed a few new ones for me to listen to, also for everyone else. I've got two new ones to add to my list thanks to Lauren! Like Lauren has said, podcasts are great to listen to when you're unwinding and also for long journey's! They're also great to listen to when I'm at the gym, it makes me stay there longer than I want to!

If this post doesn't make you want to book a flight to Santorini, I don't know what will. Santorini is on top of my travel wanderlust list and I really hope I can visit there in the future, what am I saying? I will visit there in the future! The photo's Terri has used in her post are stunning, especially the ones overlooking the Aegean Sea and walking through the streets of Oia. That's it, I'm going to be pining over Santorini now. I wonder if there are any cheap flights floating around online?....

  3. Great selection of posts here, definitely going to check out the first one. Butttt I think your twenties are a Tuesday. This method only takes you up to your 60s which is still relatively young if you think about it. Probably reading way too much into this but I think they're a Tuesday evening or something like that 😂 x
