So, who are Maniko?
Maniko is a brand that makes stick-on nail strips made from nail polish. For real! Maniko's nail strips are vegan, cruelty-free, they're safe for pregnant women and sustainable. The ingredients that are used to create Maniko nail strips are free from the 14 common ingredients which are known to cause irritation. Maniko strips are meant to last up to 14 days once applied.
You've convinced me to buy from Maniko, where do I start?
The best place to start is to buy a starter kit, which is currently half price at £36! The kit includes 2 designs of your choice, a top coat, a base coat, a nail polish remover and a glass nail file.
I've ordered the starter kit and it's arrived! Now how do I apply the strips?
Here's a little step-by-step guide on how to apply Maniko nail strips:
1) Prep the nails by pushing back the cuticles (you don't want the strips to stick to your skin!), file and shape the nails to your desired shape should you wish.
2) Use a drop of the Maniko nail polish remover on your nails to make sure the nail surface is clean and ready for application.
3) Apply the Maniko base coat. The base coat dries in a matter of seconds, so not too much wait time! If your nails are brittle, apply a second coat.
4) Time to start applying the strips. Each pack has different sizes to fit each nail. We all have different nail sizes, so it's great that each Maniko nail strip pack caters for each nail size. If you are unsure what to choose between two sizes, choose the smaller strip option. Peel the chosen strip from the pack, and carefully stick it onto the nail. Press down so there are no creases or bubbles.
5) Trim the strip with nail scissors - being careful not to cut too close to the edge of the nail. The genius side of this is that you can cut the strip in half and use the other half on the opposite nail!
6) Fold the excess over the nail and file off the excess horizontally using the Maniko glass nail file. It's important to not file the excess off in different directions as it can damage the strip, which could possibly mean the manicure may not last as long.
7) Apply the Maniko top coat to seal the manicure. You may need to apply another layer of top coat a few days later to avoid tip wear.
8) Enjoy your new Maniko manicure!
What are your honest thoughts on Maniko?
An absolute game changer. I really wish I discovered Maniko sooner! The nails genuinely lasted up to 14 days (as seen below) and I couldn't recommend them enough! I love that there's no dry time, it barely chips and no smudging to worry about. Also, there are so many beautiful different designs (both manicure and pedicure) so you are never stuck for choice! One advantage of Maniko nail strips is that you get up to 4 uses out of each pack. So much cheaper than going to a salon to have gels/acrylics applied and replace every month.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the removal process is so easy and quick. Plus the strips don't leave any discolouration on the nails. Such a win-win. You can also travel with these, which is great in case a strip (tragically) comes away from the nail.
So if you're looking for a fuss-free salon alternative for your next manicure, look no further than Maniko!
Oh Lucy - you must have read my mind here because I have been wanting to try Maniko forever now! Thank god it's as great as I expected!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good Simona, would highly recommend!
DeleteWhen something is cruelty-free, that's my thing. Thanks for recommending..
ReplyDeleteIt's always good when a brand is cruelty-free x
DeleteThis is such a good idea and I love how well they lasted for you! I hate removing gel manicures so these look like something I should try!

These nail strips are so easy to remove when you need to, such a simpler process!
DeleteThis sounds like exactly what I need. I tried nail strips when they first came out from a different brand but I couldn't get on with them. These sound so simple to use though, so I definitely want to pick up the starter kit and give them a go. Great review.
ReplyDeleteThese nail strips from Maniko are the best I've ever tried, definitely worth it!
DeleteWow I did not expect these to turn out as good as they did, your nails look great! I wish I had nails to try things like this haha x
ReplyDeleteThey're amazing Jenny, definitely the best buy I've made in ages! If you have short nails (like mine are at times), these will definitely help them to grow! x
DeleteI am going to have to try this out!

Try them Danielle, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
DeleteWow these look incredible! I definitely want to look into these, especially since they’re chip free even after 14 days! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYeah they're amazing lovely! Barely chipped at day 14!
DeleteI love the sound of these. I get my nails done at a shop every few weeks but if I do get my nails taken off, these will be perfect for me as I absolutely hate painting my own nails. I’ll defiantly be checking them out, thank you so much for sharing with us lovely Xo

I'm sure that you would love these too Elle! x
DeleteThese look so good! I always have a love - hate relationship with my nails recently! I got acrylic nails done before my holiday and ended up ripping my whole little nail off with one! Gel polish always seems to leave my nails really brittle and damaged so these sound like they would be perfect :-)

OMG Courtney that sounds so painful! I hope your little finger is ok now! That's exactly the reason why I don't have Gel nails done anymore - they have made my nails so brittle and weak. These stick on nail strips from Maniko are the way to go! x
DeleteI haven’t heard of this brand before. But what a great idea. I usually get my nails shellacked as I haven’t got the patience to do them myself, plus they never come out perfect. But these sound like a great idea. Thank you for sharing your experience.

DeleteThey sound fab! What were your nails like when you took them off? Did it peel any layers of nail with it and make them weak?
