I see people adopting these trends and I just cannot get on board with it. With me, some trends do take a while for me to adopt. For example, the Adidas Samba trainers were a trend that I couldn't see the point of. Now, I'm searching high and low for them at a discounted price. However, some trends are still around and I'm like "No baby no".
Fancy finding out what these hated trends of mine are? Read on...
1) Crocs
I despise Crocs. They just look horrible. It doesn't matter if you adorn them with those mini decorations, they still look awful. You will never see me in a pair of them! Even though are perforated with holes, I always think they must smell if you wear them barefooted. And don't get me started on people who wear them with socks!
2) Low-rise jeans
High-waisted all day for me when it comes to jeans and even trousers. I remember low-rise jeans gaining huge popularity after Paris Hilton started wearing them in the 2006 era. Remember when jeans had pink stitched patterns running down the leg? Those were the days eh?
3) Jumper draped over the shoulders
Now, I need to explain myself on this one. It's one of those trends where a lot of women pull the look off, but me - not so much. Also, how do they keep it on their shoulders all day? It would drive me to distraction if I was walking around the shops, worrying the jumper would fall off or the wind would blow it away. Maybe that's just the overthinker in me.
4) Fur coats/faux fur coats
It's a definite no to animal fur coats. Faux fur coats, on the other hand, I can just about accept. They look cute on some women, but I just look like I'm an extra in the video 'Stay Another Day' by East 17. I do remember being bought a faux fur jacket for Christmas when I was a kid, I think I barely wore it even back then!
5) Severely ripped jeans
I don't mind a ripped jean, but you know the ones where you see more skin than denim. Those are horrible, I'm sorry, you may as well not wear any bottoms at all.
6) Micro bags
They are cute and chic, but in terms of functionality, they're completely useless. What's the point of using a bag so small when it means you have to carry everything in your hands?! I like to put my phone in my bag when I'm walking around to keep it safe. So micro bags are a no for me.
7) Peplum tops
Oh my word, remember these? Not just tops, dresses and skirts too. I remember these became a huge thing when I was in college in 2010. I did own a couple of peplum tops, but they never really suited me. I just bought them because every girl in my class owned one. I noticed that recently they've come back into fashion. Some things are just better left alone, aren't they?
These are the fashion trends I just cannot get on board with!
I'd love to know your thoughts on this, do you agree with any of these? Or are there ones I forgot to mention and you think they should be included in this list!
I’m a crocs convert, but I just wear them when I’m camping on holiday or around the house. They’re so handy to nip in the garden in. I totally agree with the jumper over the shoulder thing, reminds me of rich elderly people ðŸ¤. Plus I’m one of those women who love to cart everything but he kitchen sink around with them so a micro bag is a big no no for me.

That's fair enough Olivia! I think they have a better function for wearing around the house than outside! A micro bag is a definite no-no from me, it's just not functional!
DeleteCrocs are most definitely better suited for children, not adults. Like you, I don't find them functional at all!
ReplyDeleteI agree with so many of these - especially the micro bag trend! If it doesn't fit at least my phone, then I don't know what the point of it is! Thanks for sharing! :)

I like my bags to be practical Melissa!
DeleteI agree with you on a lot of these! I've never been a fan of Crocs, and I prefer high-waisted jeans without holes! Also, I've never understand the point of micro bags. Where are you supposed to keep your wallet, phone, keys, and any other necessities!?
ReplyDeleteI always prefer high-waisted jeans as they hide my tum!
DeleteI completely agree with you lovely, micro bags have no function whatsover!
I have to agree with all of these! Haha. The jumper over the shoulders thing baffles me. Like what purpose is it serving?

I get why people do the jumper thing, I just think it would drive me nuts having it draped over my shoulders! I would be so self-conscious about it falling off while walking! x
DeleteFor me I cannot stand severely ripped jeans, low rise jeans and faux fur coats, the others I think I can pull it off.

Severely ripped jeans are the worst, you may as well wear no jeans at all!
DeleteI cannot understand the micro bag trend. I would rather have a full sized bag that I can throw my necessities in rather than have a bag that can only fit a single lipstick.
ReplyDeleteI’ve also been wanting a pair of crocs, but only for running errands. I feel like they’re good for something quick and easy when you don’t want to get properly dressed or for comfort at the airport or on an airplane.
I totally agree with you on the micro bag trend, I like to have a bag which can fit my essentials in!
DeleteThat's fair enough what you said about crocs Winnie, they're just not the type of footwear I can see myself wearing!
I completely agree about each of the trends you've mentioned. I used to wear peplum tops the first time round but now I know they would just never suit my shape.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I did own a couple of peplum tops as they were flattering, but not so much any more!
DeleteI agree with you on most of these except peplum tops and crocs! I keep a pair of crocs by the back door to slip on when gardening or walking in the garden, and they are so useful when camping or going to a swimming pool :)
ReplyDeleteI get the use of crocs just for around the house, but not for walking around in public!
DeleteI agree with all, but I think peplum tops and dresses can be cute when styled right. However, peplum isn't practical in many ways, it gets in the way of layering and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think I've always disliked peplum tops because they never suited me. I used to own a couple of peplum tops when they were really popular years ago. Looking back at those old photos, I don't know why I ever thought I looked good in them!
