I’ve sort of found my rhythm with travelling in 2019, and I want that rhythm to continue in 2020. I visited Liverpool (obvs) twice, Brighton and Birmingham. All lovely cities, but all visited for different reasons.
I’ve grown a real likeness towards travelling solo these days. I love the thought of not having to follow anyone else’s routine and I can just go about things in my own time and way.
I’ve grown to love exploring new places, even if it’s in the UK. I love the anticipation of getting on the train knowing it’s going to take me to my destination (delays and cancellations permitting) . I adore walking into a hotel room and sleeping on a bed with crisp sheets and knowing I can have a (in Uncle Bryn’s voice) ‘power shower’ (I haven’t got a working shower at home, so I bath it all of the time)
I want to make people see that the UK does have a lot to offer as well as going abroad. Cause there is a lot to see, I promise you.
Ok, rather than me wittering on, here are the places that are on my travel hit list for 2020 -
COTSWOLDS
I've seen quite a few blogger's go to the Cotswolds and it's such a beautiful and picturesque place. I'd love to visit the heart of the Cotswolds, after all it's an AONB (area of natural beauty) and explore as it seems like a peaceful and tranquil place. I've been looking at staying in an Airbnb on my visit there hopefully around April time. It would make a nice change to stay in an Airbnb rather than a hotel.
BATH
Not far from the Cotswolds is the city (is it a city?) of Bath. Another place that has been on my travel wanderlust list for a while. I'm hoping to go to Bath Christmas Market in the next week or so, so I shall get a little taste of what Bath has to offer. I would love to make a trip to the Roman Baths, if you have been to Bath before, please let me know if it's worth the visit or not! Bath is such an Instagrammable place, definitely a place where I can take enough photo's for good supply of Insta content. Bath is on my travel rota for me to visit about May/June time.
LIVERPOOL
It wouldn't be a perfect travel plan without a visit to Liverpool now would it? Well, for me it wouldn't anyway. I've already booked a trip to my happy place for the end of March which I'm already bouncing about! I'm hoping to visit Liverpool again next Summer, possibly a little earlier. I love going up in August, but it's nice walking round Liverpool during quieter periods aka not in the Summer Holidays. I'm hoping to go back in July and possibly make a trip up in December next year too. Three visits in one year - I've done it before, I can do it again!
SOUTHAMPTON
Now, I made a quick trip to this place twice on a detour to and from Brighton. Well, let's be more specific, I only ventured in the train station waiting area (which was like an oven). I can't even give you a proper reason why I want to visit - it just seems appealing! I think walking along the front and breathing in the sea air sounds amazing - plus the sea air is good for my lungs. Kill two birds and that. I'm planning a visit around August time, it seems the best time for me to go.
TENBY
This is a place I'm still thinking about. Purely because I'm trying to find somewhere I'd like to stay. I'd like to stay near Tenby harbour, purely so I can sit on the beach (weather permitting) with a good book and just chill. If anyone has been to Tenby and can recommend a place to stay, give me a heads up yeah?! I plan to visit either in June or August. It's quite an easy place to get to, well, being and living in Wales, it should be!
What's on your travel hit list for 2020? Let me know!
We are in The Cotswolds quite often. It's so lovely! Another idea: Amsterdam. I wrote a handy shopping guide for visitors https://ionimage.nl/fashion-shopping-in-amsterdam/ -Jenni at I on Image
ReplyDeleteAmsterdam is definitely a place for me to visit in the future! x
DeleteI'd love to visit Bath as well, it sounds like such a lovely place! Three trips to Liverpool sounds like a solid plan too haha :) x

Haha I've got a good plan in place, hopefully I can follow it all through! x
DeleteThe Cotswolds is one of my favourite places in the UK, it’s just so picturesque.
ReplyDeleteTenby is beautiful we were there this summer but we camped just outside. Always go for luxury x
It really does look picturesque! Haha I'll go for luxury then! x
DeleteThis is so exciting to read. Everyone always talks about exploring outside of the UK but I agree that there's so much to offer here as well. I would love to be able to explore more of the UK more, especially the northern parts. Would love to do a week away in Yorkshire and see the peak district! Northern Ireland is defo on the list as well - looks so beautiful there! However, being a student, it's all just a dream inside my head at the moment!
ReplyDeleteThe Peak District sounds so lovely and I know a few people who have visited and said that they've loved it! I would love to visit Belfast! x
DeleteAlthough I lived in the UK for two years and got to travel around a lot, I never made it to the Cotswolds or Liverpool! My work allows me to take a few months (or as long as I want really) off at a time, so next year I hope to do my dive master training in Honduras and come back to Europe, including the UK! Best of luck x

DeleteThis is such a lovely blog post and the places you want to visit sound so lovely! I haven’t visited any of those before but hope to do so soon!
ReplyDeleteAyse x
I hope you visit them soon Ayse! x
DeleteSo many amazing places! I'm planning on booking a last minute trip to Liverpool for my boyfriends birthday, and I'm excited it seems like an amazing city. I hope you're able to visit everywhere xx

I hope you manage to book the trip to Liverpool with your boyfriend! Liverpool is an incredible city! xx
DeleteBath is such a stunning city to visit and there's so much to do! If you do visit in May I would recommend paying a visit to the San Francisco Fudge Factory which is near the Abbey - the fudge is AMAZING! I would also highly recommend the Cotswolds too, we got married in Stow on the Wold and explored some of the nearby towns and they're so pretty. The Model Village in Bourton on the Water was a particular highlight! Xx
ReplyDeleteOh I will definitely add that to my list of things to do in Bath, I love fudge! Thanks for the recommendations Amy! xx
DeleteHaving lived in The Cotswolds all my life, I love it when bloggers mention it. :-) There are so many lovely towns and villages to explore here. I'd also recommended nearby Bristol and of course, Bath, which you mentioned (yes it's a city) and you should definitely check out the Roman Baths. I'm hoping to explore more of the UK next year too. Brighton and Liverpool are top of my list.
