Sustainable period pants have become more popular due to their sustainability and comfort. I've tried period pants before and have become a complete period pant convert since I first tried them. I've been looking for new sustainable period pants to try, so when WUKA came to me about trying their period pants, I was so excited! Let's delve into this brand and its products -

Who are WUKA?

WUKA (Wake Up Kick Ass) are a sustainable menstruation brand who were founded in 2017, making it the UK's first-ever reusable and leak-proof period underwear. WUKA believe that periods shouldn't cost the Earth, and rightly so! WUKA's mission is to ensure that sustainable lifestyles are accessible to all. WUKA uses sustainable fabrics to make their period pants. The brand changed the law last year and has made all of their period pants VAT-free.

What kind of sustainable menstruation products do WUKA sell?

WUKA sell period pants in all different styles to suit you. As well as that, they sell period pants for teens, pants for women who are in menopause, incontinence pants and even swimwear! Their newest release is the Stretch Cotton period pants.

What are the benefits of using WUKA products?

As I said before, sustainable menstruation products are gaining popularity by the day - and WUKA are leading the way in sustainable period care. WUKA sell period pants in a range of sizes, colours and styles. They also sell pants in terms of flow eg super heavy, heavy, medium and light. WUKA want to make your periods as comfortable and easy as they possibly can.

How do WUKA period pants work?

The keyword for how WUKA period pants work is layers. The layers in the pants make sure you get a long-lasting feeling of dryness while wearing them. Every pair includes a super absorbent gusset which consists of many layers. The middle layers absorb and lock in the blood whilst working with the outer layer helps to make sure you stay dry throughout the day!

How do I wash WUKA period pants?

With period pants, you have to take care of them and wash them differently from what you would your normal laundry routine. WUKA have some recommendations which will help to make your product last longer -

1) After use, handwash and rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. This is best to do immediately after removing.

2) When putting the pants in the machine, turn them inside out and make sure you wash them with darker garments on a 40-degree wash. Don't use fabric softener!

3) Once they've been washed, hang your pants out to dry or indoors on the airer. Do not tumble dry!

It's also advised to wash your products as cold as possible as it will prolong the life of the pants!

Does WUKA have any new products being released?

Yes, they do! The new Stretch Cotton pants are their newest release and they have many key features which make them stand out from any other period pants:

  • 1 pair fits four sizes and there's no VPL.
  • You can wear these for up to 12 hours with no wet feeling or odour.
  • They're made with BCI-certified cotton, so they feel soft on your skin.
  • They will last for up to two years of wear and washing.
  • One pair of these replaces 200-single uses of tampons or pads!

Now, you're probably wondering what BCI-Cotton is. Well, BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) is grown using practices that promote sustainability and ethical textile production. BCI is kind to the skin and allows the skin to breathe. BCI is really great for those who have eczema-prone or sensitive skin. This material is also recommended by gynaecologists as the breathable nature of the material can prevent infections such as thrush or UTIs.

Would you recommend WUKA period pants?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to experience the pants on my period yet. However, there are so many aspects of WUKA and their pants that I love!

The comfort of the pants is up there with some of the comfiest period pants I have ever worn. These period pants I am wearing in the photos fit so perfectly and I know that I will be more than happy to wear them once my next menstruation cycle starts. Also, because they're seam-free, they are so comfortable and I love that the waistband is quite thick, it sits so nicely on the hips.

I have no doubt that when my next period comes around, wearing these will fill me with ease knowing I don't have to worry about any "Oops" moments. I want to be wearing period pants that can make me relax when I carry out my daily activities such as exercising, running errands and even going out-out!

Since I made the swap to period pants, I don't reach for any pads anymore. Period pants are the way forward. If you're still unsure, I recommend you try WUKA's period pants first, you won't be disappointed!

Do you want to start looking and feeling better about yourself? If so, then you have come to the right place. This guide will show you what steps you can take to improve your outfits without making any mistakes.

Are you making these critical fashion mistakes?

Desperation Shopping

If you have a wedding to go to, or a special birthday looming then you need to make sure you plan. Don’t go to a shop you can’t count on and don’t assume you have something in your wardrobe that will do. The last thing you want is to have a last-minute shopping spree that overwhelms and stresses you out. If this happens then you will probably end up coming home with something that you are never going to wear again, which is the last thing you need. If you want to do something about this then as soon as you get an invite, schedule time in your calendar so you can figure out what it is you want to wear.

When you assess your clothes, remember that adding thrifted, borrowed or rented accessories can be a great problem-solver. If you are certain that you don’t have anything right then look on used websites. This is a great way to get what you are looking for, without pressure.

Markdown Prices

Sales and even special offers make it easy to lose your mind. Common sense and budgeting will help you out a lot here. Make sure that before you buy something impulsively, you reflect and pause. Is it the thrill of a bargain that you are actively responding to? If it was full price, would you still want the item?

Imagine what you would like to wear the item with and then take note of the occasions it is suited for. Ask yourself what items in your closet can also serve the same purpose. If you can do this then you will soon find that it becomes easier to come to the right decision.

Phobia of Cobblers

Preventative maintenance can go a long way here. Spare yourself and your wallet stress by taking your shoes to the cobblers from time to time. Buy some water-repellent spray and give your shoes a good spray before you wear them out. You should do this every week. You should also see this as being like a moisturizer for your shoes.

If you notice that you have spots on your suede shoes then you can remove these with a special eraser. If you have leather-soled boots then give them to your cobbler and they will add a thin layer of rubber to protect it. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you want out of your fashionable clothing and that it looks better for longer. If you don’t have any boots then buying online is the way to go. You can buy size 4 boots from numerous retailers if you have smaller feet, and when you do, you can feel confident knowing that you will always have something that makes you feel good.

Closet Piling

Piling a ton of tops onto one hanger and over-stuffing your drawers can be a huge mistake. You may also find this to be very overwhelming. The solution here would be for you to carve out an off-season storage area. You don’t have to be perfect here, but you do need to make sure that you have some standards that you hold yourself to. If you can, you also need to make sure that you are using the right hanger for the task. Sturdier hangers are good as they help you to maintain the shape of your coats and your blazers. If you have a heavy-knit sweater then this will stretch if you hang it. Protect your trousers by hanging them from the bottom, as this is the best way for you to stop those tell-tale creases.

Purse Consideration

Another thing you need to do is swap and use the purses you have. Carrying your everyday bag to a wedding or slinging a weekend tote is not what you should be doing. You need to give some thought to the bags and purses that you have and you also need to swap what you have, depending on the occasion. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you are going for, while boosting your fashion game in more ways than one.

Let me know your thoughts! Are you guilty of doing any of these?
