The Ultimate Guide to Christmas Party Dressing with Very

The festive season is upon us, and it's time to think about our festive outfits for any Christmas parties we've been invited to. As it's Christmas, there are plenty of sequins and glitter galore and a faux fur coat thrown in for good measure when looking online for something to wear. And as it is Christmas, why shouldn't you dress up and add a little sparkle and glamour to our festive party outfit?! Thanks to Very, they have helped me achieve THE perfect party outfit for the festive season!

The dress

Firstly, we need to take a moment for the dress. This Embellished Square-Neck Mini Dress features exquisite embroidery with beads and sequins. The mini dress has a square neckline and is incredibly flattering. I also love the split hem detail on my right leg. This dress just screams festive and is ready for any Christmas party!

The jacket

This Fringe Jacket makes a statement; it's the perfect way to finish this outfit. When it comes to going out around this time of year, not many of us want to carry or wear a huge, chunky coat as it can really overshadow a look. This cropped jacket is super soft and fluffy and compliments this dress really well. Whatever dress you're wearing, whether it's a black mini or a black midi dress, this jacket will make a statement along with it!

The shoes

I find slingback heels are a very flattering shoe, and they're so incredibly versatile. Tights or bare legs, slingback heels are a classic shoe to elevate any outfit. These Schuh black patent slingbacks are a staple for any wardrobe and are a lot more comfortable than they look! I never thought I could wear heels this high again, but these slingbacks have given me some hope back!

The bag

I didn't want to opt for a black clutch to complete the look. I wanted a metallic bag that would complement this entire outfit. So I opted for this New Look Drew Lizard Top Handle bag. It adds that pop of colour and that lovely hint of gold complements the dress well. This bag also comes with a strap if you want to drape it over your shoulder like a crossbody bag. But I much prefer holding it like a top-handle bag.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this Christmas party outfit from Very!

I cannot wait to wear this look to any Christmas party I go to this December. It's an outfit I will wear again and again! The black dress and faux fur coat are a timeless combo that works for every occasion, not just Christmas. Very has it all when it comes to festive fashion and beauty essentials, and it's the perfect place to shop for your festive outfit!

If you're struggling to find a festive outfit for that Christmas works do or party, here is a quick guide to Christmas party dressing:

1) Don't be afraid of overdressing

Christmas is about overdoing it, whether it be on the food or the presents, what you wear should be included in that. Don't be afraid of sequins or glitter, the festive season is about dressing glamorous for your Christmas party - so don't be afraid of overthinking you're overdoing it with your outfit - I'd rather stand out in my outfit at Christmas than not!

2) One statement piece is key

I may be slightly contradicting myself here, but if you're really not confident in overdoing your outfit, then wear one statement piece and keep the others basic. For example, wear a sequin skirt and a simple white shirt or basic top with it. For longevity, buy a sequin piece that blends well in your wardrobe, something which will guarantee you will reach for it again in the future.

3) Play with textures

Sequins, velvet, feathers and faux fur are the different textures I generally see on the rails in stores during the festive season. Find a fabric and texture you feel comfortable in and that looks stylish. Mix and match and see what works for you, you'd be surprised of what textures work well together.

4) Accessories, accessories, accessories

Did someone say accessories? I mean, accessorising is a must for any outfit you wear. But when it's your Christmas party look, you want to go all out with the accessories. Statement jewellery, bags and even tights - make a statement this festive season.

I'd love to know if you are Christmas party outfit ready!
