Wedding Days at Halesmere House by Suzanne Snow: A Review

I do love reading romance books from time to time. It's that genre where I can just escape, imagine myself ending up with a dream man like in the book (like that'll ever happen) and let my heart feel a little warmth and happiness for a few hundred pages. Recently, I came across the book - Wedding Days at Halesmere House, written by Suzanne Snow. Actually, it's a book from one of my local libraries so it'll be going back soon. However, I'm so glad my Mum's friend picked this one up for me to read!

The book centres around the two main characters, Lizzie and Cal. Twelve years after they had a bad break up, they meet again unexpectedly when Lizzie returns to where she used to live to help plan the wedding of her best friend, Gemma. We see how Lizzie is still feeling bitter (for want of a better word) about Cal and how they ended things. I honestly don't blame her though after the way they did break up.

In the book, we begin with Gemma's wedding planning weekend at Halesmere House. This is where we start to see the awkward interactions between Lizzie and Cal. We also go back to twelve years earlier in one chapter to see how Lizzie and Cal met and what happened during their brief but impactful relationship.

During the book, we see how Lizzie's somewhat icy exterior begins to melt with Cal and how their relationship develops during the book. We also see side plots during the story. From Cal looking for his father who he has never met to Lizzie starting a new job at Halesmere House as an event/wedding planner.

Would I recommend this Wedding Days at Halesmere House?

If you're looking for a simple yet heartwarming romance, this book is for you. It was such a lovely, gentle read and I absolutely loved it! I loved all of the characters in this book, even the bit part characters Bea, Gemma, Stan and Alec. I loved watching how Lizzie and Cal's relationship changes and develops from the start of the book until the end.

When it comes to Suzanne Snow's writing, I love how descriptive she was. The way she described Halesmere House and the surrounding countryside was just lovely. I'm definitely going to read more of her books in the future!

Let me know what you think of this review! Have you read this book before?

  1. I never would have picked this type of book before getting married, but now it seems appealing to me knowing how stressful a wedding is to plan haha!
