Christmas is ultimately the busiest and most frantic time of the year. We're all running around like headless chickens trying to get everything done for the big day on the 25th. I do love the hustle and bustle at Christmas, even though we're all running up and down the aisles trying to find the perfect gift, we all have an aura of festive happiness about us which in turn, makes me happy.
However, Christmas, for quite a few of us, can cause a lot of stress and tension. I'd love to say that I'm as calm as anything at Christmas, but, me being me, I stress about who I need to buy for and what in the hell I'm going to buy them! There's always that one person you don't have a scooby doo what to buy them, they seem to own everything on the planet.
Or it could be that you're the one set the monumental task of cooking the Christmas dinner, which is incredibly stressful in itself. I'd never want to take on the responsibility of cooking the biggest roast dinner of the year, knowing me I'd burn the turkey or forget to buy the pigs in blankets! (an absolute essential for any Christmas dinner).
Like I said at the start, there are so many other pressures relating to the lead up to Christmas which can result in lack of sleep and stress. Don't get me wrong, I adore Christmas, it's my favourite time of the year, but prior to the 25th, some of us let the pressures of it override the happiness of it all.
With the help of Bed Guru, I'm giving you some well needed tips on how to achieve a less stressful Christmas and help you get the much needed night's sleep you deserve!
WRITE A LIST
There's nothing worse than lying in bed and you're overthinking the things you're already overthinking about. It completely sets your mind into overdrive and you struggle to doze off. If you feel that you have a long list of things to do for the festive season, then write down all those things on a to do list for the next day/week. Doing that can allow you to switch off at night and there's no greater satisfaction than ticking off all the things on your list one by one! There's that sense of achievement and more importantly, the stress of Christmas seems to ease itself.
MAXIMISE YOUR SLEEPING HOURS
What I mean by this is that you need to make sure that you get your minimum amount of sleep. Whether it be 6 or 8 hours, you need to get yourself off to bed early as often as you can over the festive period. However, that can be quite difficult to grab that early night with all the events taking place in your diary in December. From Christmas markets, to carol concerts to the Christmas works do. When you think you can take advantage of getting an early night, take it!
PLAN A SECRET SANTA
Like myself, I work with quite a few colleagues and get on with most of them. I want to buy them all Christmas presents, but then I look at my bank account and I think it would shake it's head profusely and disapprovingly. Ask your work besties if they would like to do a Secret Santa and then you only have to buy for one person! It doesn't sound tight, it's just stopping yourself for getting into debt!
PAMPER YOURSELF
Well, you should pamper yourself 365 days of the year anyway! But especially during the festive period. It's hard to remember to take a step back and just breathe. So please, make sure you pop the kettle in, make a hot chocolate and just sit down and chill! Every little bit of rest helps!
Hopefully putting this tips into practice can allow to have a stress free Christmas and a good nights sleep, dribbling and all.

DeleteThese are really good tips! Stress is the worst, but stress during the holidays - definite no go! I'm a big believer in lists. I think sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to take care of ourselves so you're totally right, pampering and ensuring you have enough sleep is so important.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your tips doll!

It is the worst when you get stressed during the festive season! I'm glad you enjoyed the post Des!
DeleteI love that these are more self care orientated. We're all so busy running around like crazy in December it's nice to take a minute or 20 for yourself. We always make lists try to get everything prepped by mid-December to make things a little easier x

DeleteIt can be so awful to feel stressed through the festive period no matter what the cause is. When you're forced to socialise and be present when sometimes you just need some time to yourself, it can really drive you insane. The important thing is definitely to remember to put your own health first through it all :) Love these tips!
