Blog Reads of October

How is it that we are days from dusting off our Halloween decorations and buying makeup to look our goriest best?! It's almost the end of October, Autumn is in full swing, the clocks are going back this weekend and the early nights await us.

The end of a month also means something else to me - another 'Blog Reads Of' edition! With the weather quickly turning cooler, it means me wrapping myself up like a cocoon in a blanket reading dozens of blog posts through Bloglovin' or Twitter blog threads.

I've read quite a few amazing posts this month, from travel ones to even Christmas themed ones. Are we already thinking about Christmas? Well, I've seen Christmas stock being sold in my local Home Bargains so I would say we pretty much are!

Let's crack on with things, here are my favourite reads from October (in particular order):

1) Tips For Embracing The Darker Mornings and Early Evenings | Samantha. J
I do have a little confession - I do like the early evenings! But - I only like the early evenings leading up to Christmas, when January comes, I'm begging for Spring/Summer to make a return. With a lot of people suffering with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) it can be really difficult to adjust to the change in terms of daytime light etc. I'm thankful I don't get SAD during the colder months, but I know it can have a significant impact on people during the winter. This post I loved from Samantha because it gave me new ideas of how to embrace the darker mornings/early evenings. From getting into a routine, to exercising and prepping for the next day the night before, this post will certainly help fix those winter blues!

2) I Don't Want To Go Home | Beth Sandland
If you haven't been following Beth's incredible travel journey on Insta, then where hella you been?! Her Insta has shown her incredible journey in Australia and Asia and I've thoroughly enjoyed her posts and absolutely loved her content. You can tell Beth has embraced everything about travelling out of a backpack! In this recent post of Beth's, I adored her honesty about being anxious about returning to London in the next few weeks. I can't imagine how she's feeling but I hope she knows that she's inspired so many people to get out there and travel to so many different places. Such an inspiration to all us blogger's, travel niche or not.

3) Why It's Not a Bad Thing To Get In The Mood For Christmas Early | Nourish Your Glow
As I said in the beginning of this post, I have already seen Christmas stock being sold in October. Many people say that it's too early to even begin thinking about Christmas, mince pies and Quality Street tins - but is it? Hayley has written some positives about getting into the spirit of Christmas, from starting your present budget to even buying better purchases now than in December. Hayley has made some great points here, does it do us any harm to get in the mood for Christmas? I think not! As Hayley says, Christmas is not only a joyful time of year, it's an expensive one too. Start putting money aside for the season NOW!

4) Instagram Hashtags for Bloggers | Of A Glasgow Girl
I've been moaning to myself about Instagram lately. I don't want to moan about it online as I don't want to come across as a moaner or whiner! But my engagement has been so shit lately that I've started to dislike the app. I read Jordanne's post about hashtags to use on Insta to increase engagement or if you fancied just changing things up a bit. I always thought that changing hashtags on posts regularly would increase engagement and I was in dire need of some new ones to use. So I started using some form Jordanne's list and I am so excited to say that my engagement has increased dramatically because of her post of hashtags! Thank you Jordanne!

I was asked by Elin to talk about my experiences of having an invisible disability and I couldn't say no! After reading other's talk about their experiences with being blind or having a disability really does make you feel like you're not alone. This post is such an inspiration to us all and I really hope that it can reach across to so many people. The message I hope that Elin has got across to people is that you shouldn't be so judgemental about disabilities and basically think before you speak!

6) The Best UK Christmas Markets in 2019 | The Lifestyle Blogger UK
Ok, this post has literally made me want to go to every Christmas market that is on this list that Becky has made. I made a little promise to myself that I would visit Bath Christmas Market this year. I was going to do an overnight stay as well but hotels in Bath during the Christmas Market spell are quite expensive. Now after reading this list, I want to go to every single one after searching them on Google. Hmm, how many should or could I try and visit?

7) Luscious Locks, Tips For Healthy Hair | Luv and Lifestyle

This post from Kirsty literally blew my mind for one fact alone - the key to clean and healthy hair is to shampoo your hair twice. MIND BLOWN. I, like probably the entire United Kingdom always thought the norm was to shampoo your hair just once to clean it. Just reading the shampoo paragraph in Kirsty's post alone completely blew my mind! The rest of her post gives some great advice about hair care and the best ways to keep your hair in a gleaming condition. If only I could get rid of the never-ending split ends...

Now November is upon us and it's almost time for Bonfire Week - sorry, Night. Let's face it, we're all going to be hearing a lot of rockets blasting off and Catherine Wheels spinning around this next week or so!
Which blog posts have been your favourites this month? Let me know!

What a good idea! And thanks for introducing me to Beth; I'm excited to check out her travels and journey. And definitely agree that the Christmas spirit is awesome to start early!
