I'd love to go to one of those lodge houses for a weekend with my blogger friends to do photo sessions and just inspire each other to create cracking content, who's with me?! 🙈📸— Lucy Taylor (@LucyMaryTaylor) July 31, 2019
I kind of think this title is misleading, I haven't been to a blogger retreat recently! That's the stuff only blogger's dreams are made of, or in this case, mine. However, this got me thinking - what would be the perfect blogging retreat? What place could blogger's and influencer's go to where they can write, have photo sessions and inspire each other to create cracking content?
Blogger Retreat |
Before I really delve into this post, I don't want to paint a stereotypical blogger image for all you non-bloggers and bloggers alike, this is just a fun idea I came up with while sweating my buns off on the recumbent bike at the gym (as you do). I don't need too much backlash off the back of this, I'm a new (cat) mother now, I have responsibilities.
Anyway, so the perfect blogging retreat. I'd love to go to, for example, a lodge in the Cotswolds, a beach house on the Devon coast or a large eco friendly house in the country. As long as it met Insta-worthy criteria. I'd go with my blogging friends and just have a couple of days where I can learn and be inspired off the blogger's who's posts I love reading. Also having photo sessions where we can write posts based off the photo's we captured. A place just to get to know each and learn off each other.

Let's think about this, what would constitute as an ideal blogging getaway location?
INSTAGRAMMABLE LOCATION
This is definitely a must, whether it be a hotel or like I said previously, a lodge in the Cotswolds or somewhere else in the countryside, it's got be idyllic as well as Insta worthy. Even though I do like the hustle and bustle of a city, I do like the peace and quiet of the country. Sometimes that peacefulness is great for your mindfulness and mental health. I also think writing somewhere where the view outside is maximising Mother Nature in all it's beauty can allow you to create your best content. Also an Insta worthy location means amazing photo sessions, whether it's overlooking a lake or on a balcony overseeing the sunrise/sunset (whatever your preference).
GOOD WIFI CONNECTION
Well, how are we supposed to update our Insta stories and send tweets without a good WiFi connection?! Also if you're someone who likes to jot down their ideas almost instantaneously after they pop into your head, then you need to have your laptop at the ready to get it typed down before the idea disappears. Now, if you haven't got a laptop with you at hand, you can always tap it on your Notes on your phone. But if you're like me and you like to do things the old fashioned way, you may need these instead...
NOTEBOOKS
Oh come on, what blogger doesn't love a notebook?! I had a love for stationary when I was a kid, the love for it has heightened even more when I became a blogger. Every time I'm in a store such as Tesco or Home Bargains, I can't help but be drawn to the stationary aisle to see if they have a new range of notebooks on show. But if you're away and you need to jot down ideas, actually grasping a pen or pencil in your hand and writing your ideas down on paper is still just as good as using your laptop or phone. You can't always rely on technology, especially if you forget one important thing that comes with them...Blogger Retreat |
SPARE CHARGERS FOR PHONES / CAMERAS
Have you been in that situation where you have a mini heart attack because you've left your charger at home when you're going away somewhere?! I did that last year when I went to Liverpool and thank the Lord my bestie let me share her charger. If you want to create content, you need to keep your devices topped up!
BLOGGING PROPS
Where would blogger's be without props for their photos? Whether it be geeky glasses, rose gold items, fake flowers, jewellery, confetti, mugs with our initial on them, we need props to make our flatlay's pop out or something to carry when we're doing an outside photography sesh.
TRIPODS
Now, I have grown to become reliant on my tripod to do my bedroom pictures as there is no one else I can ask to do them! If you're not comfortable in asking someone to take photo's of you, then a tripod is definitely your best choice for getting your photo's. It could be that your blogger friends are asleep and you want to get a picture of yourself watching the sunrise. Yep, a tripod would come in handy.
ROLL TOP BATHS
My aim in life is to get a picture of myself in a roll top bath. Well obviously I would be facing away from the camera! I've seen Em Sheldon even create her own hashtag as she has taken so many pictures of herself in hotel baths! I think I've got to a point that when I look at hotels around the UK now, I look to see if the rooms have roll top baths or not. As you can see, my mindset has completely changed since I became a blogger.
What would constitute as the perfect blogging retreat for you? Let me know of your ideas!

ReplyDeleteBecky | Uptown Oracle
Perhaps we should put labels on them so we know who's is who's?!
DeleteSooo this sounds actually incredible haha! I've always wanted to do something like this as it's so much easier to have a full photoshoot or get creative with your writing when you're around other people who get it! Also I have a stack of notebooks I'm yet to touch so this sounds like the perfect excuse, haha!
ReplyDeleteBeth x Adventure & Anxiety
Please bring those notebooks with you! You can't beat a notebook! x
DeleteA blogging retreat would be SO much fun! Having all my fave creators in one house for a weekend would be absolutely incredible. I'd love to different creators lead workshops and things depending on their niche, I think that'd be such a fab idea. You could do someone do a beauty masterclass, someone doing a craft workshop or yoga class, flatlay workshop, I would DEFINITELY sign up for that haha! And lots of yummy food - food is always important!

DeleteThis reminds me of the YouTube channel yoga with adriene where she does an At Home yoga retreat, specially because it's more accessible and affordable for most people this way, everyone can get involved. Loved reading this blog, think the act of imagination and visualising it can be powerful, too! You've inspired me to give myself a little more time on a slow Sunday to write /be more creative and have my own little retreat (in hospital, I should add! I'm calling it a spa break haha) x
ReplyDeleteAww thank you Chloe! This comment means so much, I hope you make your escape from hospital soon! x
DeleteThis sounds like an absolute dream! I would love a week/ weekend somewhere with my favourite bloggers with lots of creativity. The imagine in my head is sooo good right now, I'm gonna be sad when my brain wakes up and realises this isn't my reality x
