Why I'm Hoping To Get The Travel Bug Back In 2021

*There are PR products in this post. Please read the end of the post for more details.

At the back-end of 2019, I had so many travel plans, I planned to visit at least six different parts of the UK in 2020. Then what happens, a pandemic takes over the world and completely blew mine and so many other people's travel plans out of the water.

I don't whether it's just me, but while we were all in lockdown, I felt the urge to want to travel everywhere! Maybe being locked up in the house for almost six months like a caged animal didn't help much. I'm hoping to keep the travel bug feeling until 2021 when (hopefully) it'll be safer to travel again.

My first trip booked for 2021 is in Liverpool in March (a trip I've rearranged twice) and I'm praying my arse off that things will have calmed down to some degree by that point! I want to go to my happy place without feeling edgy or nervous of being within six-foot of the public.

I'm aiming to travel to just Liverpool next year, I want to go to other places but I want to wait until Covid infections rates are extremely low before I book to go anywhere else.

At the end of 2019, I fell in love with travelling solo. I loved the feeling of independence, the feeling of travelling and staying somewhere new, finding new places to explore and just doing my thing. It's just nice to spend that bit of time to myself and just experience new things and make memories.

I hope that when it comes to going to Liverpool in March next year, I hope that being a part of a year like 2020 won't knock my confidence for travelling too much. I'm gutted that 2020 has robbed so many of us of travelling and making memories, but you know, it's just the way it goes. Obviously pandemics don't occur very often, but you know. Like I said, I really caught the travel bug in 2019 and it would be so frustrating if I started feeling nervous about doing something that I enjoy doing. Travelling has given me a lot of confidence and I feel I don't have to worry about much when going somewhere else.

Next time I travel anywhere, there will be a sense of angst around it as I have become a lot more aware of people and whether they are asymptomatic to Covid or not. I'll probably pack a load of face masks, plenty of bottles of hand sanitiser and walk around with a six foot pole so people can socially distance from me. I got a feeling I wouldn't fit that in my suitcase though. Maybe there's a fold up pole I can buy on Amazon? I'd find it hilarious if there was one!

I know some people I follow on social media have been abroad since the first lockdown ended and have experienced travel through a tough time, but for those who haven't, I hope you get to hop on a plane or train or jump in the car and travel somewhere to make memories and have a fabulous time!

Where is THE place you want to travel to when all this is over? Let me know below!

  4. I really hope you're able to go to Liverpool next year and don't have to rearrange. I had a lot of trips that had to be canceled this year too, but I really don't fancy travelling abroad anytime soon as it just doesn't feel like it'll be the same xx

  7. I was meant to go to Canada this September but ended up going to Scotland and did North Coast 500 instead - still had a great time! But I have a flight voucher for Canada, so I'm really hoping I can do that in 2021. I also have eurostar vouchers from cancelled trips, I really want to use those before they expire.

Overall, I just really want to get back to normal, like everyone. I probably would travel, maybe not with the quarantine list, they were changing it so often last time. But if everything opened back up, I would go for it.

I definitely wouldn't travel to a place on the quarantine list, it just wouldn't be safe, then you would have to self isolate when you got home!

  8. I so hope you get to visit Liverpool again next year Lucy! If you need any suggestions for places to visit I'm your gal haha. I think top of my list for post-covid travel is Malaga, Spain. It's become my happy place since I visited a few years back for my 21st. x

  9. Oh I hope you will be able to visit Liverpool without having to rearrange again! Loads of travel plans have changed, havent they? We have rearranged a few trips, one being my friend's wedding in Spain. Keeping all my fingers crossed that this will still go ahead in June 2021! Liek you, I haven't really wanted to travel during this time, and working in healthcare I wouldn't want to put my patients at risk, nor would I want to put work through covering my quarantine time after!
    Thanks for sharing Lucy!

  12. I really hope you get to go to Liverppol and the other places that were on your initial list. It all feels so far away right now. I was supposed to be going to Italy in early April and initially thought MAYBE late September would be doable. Then that became maybe next March/ April and now I'm honestly not sure when I'll happily go anywhere but kind of want to jump on literally every single flight possible x

I must admit that Covid has made me very reluctant to travel abroad - which is such a shame given that I'd only just gotten into it - but I'd certainly love to do some more travelling around the UK.
