Stubbornness - A good or bad trait?

Let's face it, we all have a bit of stubbornness within us. It's how we choose to show that defines us as a person.

Being stubborn does get a bad reputation in society. You can be seen as being cocky, self-centred and defensive.

But honestly, is being stubborn such a totally bad thing? I mean, think about it, being cocky can mean being confident, right? Sometimes you have to be stubborn to get the things you want in life. You can make it a good, personal asset. Here are a few of the ways stubbornness can be seen as a positive trait:

Stubborn people don't know the meaning of quit. I'm the same, I persevere with Cystic Fibrosis because I won't let it beat me. I'll persevere with the tons of daily medication and physiotherapy if it means staying as well as I can. Nothing wrong with that is there? It's the same for dreams and ambitions, you want to strive for the best in life, so why quit and give up?

We've all been there, you know what will make you happy in life, whether it's changing your career or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. You think it seems impossible to achieve those goals, so you immediately give up, sit down with a cuppa and ponder the next dream. But why should you give up?! If it's something you really want, then go for it! Nothing is impossible!

Stubborn people tend to be straight to the point and are very decisive about what they want. We're not trying to be rude or anything, but there's no point in just umming and arring about a decision that needs to be made. I prefer people who are like that, it makes life so much easier, especially in work. You don't want a boss or supervisor who can't make a decision, it effects everybody else.

I won't be easily swayed by somebody else, if I don't agree with what they're saying or it goes against my principles and values, I won't be for it. It doesn't mean I'm being self-centred, it's just that I won't go against what I believe in to please other people.

By having a 'never say quit' attitude, you're already inspiring others. By having the determination to keep to your goals, that's inspiring others.
See, having a stubborn trait isn't so bad is it? Sometimes the traits you have, you can turn into a positive.
