What's In My Prescription Bag This Week? - 2.10.2017

I seem to writing this mini series every two weeks at the moment when it was meant to be written in weekly instalments. The reason being is that I went another week without needing to order anything from my repeat prescription!

So that meant that once again this week's order was a biggie. I needed seven items this week. They were Colomycin, Itraconazole, Saline (for the Colomycin), Calceos, Vitamins A + D, Symbicort and Menadiol (aka Vitamin K).

Here are what some of them are for:

Well, these used to be called Calichew until they changed the name. These are to help my bones and to treat or prevent osteoporosis or a Vitamin deficiency. I do have thinning of the bone in my lumbar spine and hip (can't remember which side) so these are important to keep on top of. I chew one of these twice a day. I can't stand the taste of them. It's like chewing chalk. When I first started taking these the nurses said "It's like eating Sherbert". I was led down the wrong path and I believed them. Any 12 year old would. It's safe to say I was bitterly disappointed the first time I chewed one. Bleh!

Menadiol (or Vitamin K) is one medication I really don't see the point in taking. It hasn't done me any favours! I started taking it when I told my consultant I was bruising really easily. If someone pokes me in the arm That's due to the steroids thinning the skin. But, honest to God, they haven't done a single thing to help that. Well, they have stopped the bruising from getting any worse.
S Y M B I C O R T
One of my main inhalers. I inhale two puffs of this twice a day. It's used to improve breathing, well, like all inhalers are intended to do. It is literally the first thing I inhale in the morning and the last thing I inhale at night. My day starts with Symbicort and ends with it.
 V I T A M I N  A + D
Another one of my vitamins. I take two of these once a day, usually in the morning. They help with fat absorption. So in a way, they double up with the Creon to help absorb the fat in my food to help with the weight gain.
That's the third instalment of this mini series complete!
