Autumn

It's time to say goodbye to the shorts, sandals and sun screen and say hello to scarves, socks and slippers. Autumn is upon us. Today marks the first day of Autumn (September 22nd).

I really do love Autumn. It's a pleasant reminder that Halloween (even though it's not my favourite day of the year), Bonfire Night and more excitedly, Christmas is on the way. As much as I love the summer and being able to wear my nicest, most vibrant clothes, I do like the colder months too. I love the idea of wrapping up warm, even though I sometimes look like the Michelin Man with the amount of layers I adorn!

Here are some of the other things that I love about Autumn:

As long as I wrap up warm, I love going for my Autumn/Winter walks, even though the cold air can play hell on my lungs. I'll sound like a child for writing this but I love walking through the autumnal leaves that have fallen off the trees. I think I like the crunching sound they make as I trod on them! Walking through my local park and seeing all the leaves in the ground just makes my day!

I always find that you get your best pictures during Autumn. I'll most probably see the standard 'standing in leaves with knee high boots on with a Starbucks cup (filled with Pumpkin Spice Latte) in one hand' picture on my Instagram timeline at some point soon. I'm sure I'll be one person to attempt the photo before long. The colours of Autumn are just beautiful too. All the yellow, orange and red colour tones of this season make amazing photos.

And of course our favourite reality or talent shows make a return to our TV screens. The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing (my all time favourite!) have already made a comeback to our TV schedule and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is just around the corner. These TV programmes take over our weekends and end up being the main talking points in the staff room in work come Monday lunch time.

I absolutely adore Guy Fawkes night. This is probably one of my most favourite days of the year. I get excited when I start to see fireworks being showcased in the glass case in the Range. The bigger the box of fireworks the better! Of course the best thing about Bonfire Night is the sparklers. Who doesn't love sparklers?! When you were a kid you used to have one in your gloved hand and write your name in the air, even if it could only be seen for just a few short seconds.

The colder weather means the return of cold weather favourites such as stew, soup and of course, hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows on top. Yum. Ooh, I could go for a Costa hot chocolate, or even better, a Hotel Chocolat dark hot chocolate.

Yes, I'm one of the small minority of people who loves the early, dark nights. It makes me want to rush home from work, run upstairs, turn the heating on, quickly change into my onesie or pyjamas and cwtch down in the living room ready to watch a whole evening of TV. Bliss.

The baggy jumper will be adorned again for another cold season. But seriously, who doesn't love a baggy jumper or cardigan? I need to get some jumpers or cardigans, I haven't got enough. I need to make a visit to New Look or Primark to buy some more.

There we have it, my favourite things of Autumn.

What are your favourite things about Autumn
